The response should not be to cower in fear, but to recognize that this is a war and act accordingly. France has just suffered a fresh attack in a war that is being fought by people in service of an ideology that France, like other Western countries, refuses to acknowledge even exists.

The reason why Obama offers these condemnations now after each jihad massacre is because he treats each as if it were an isolated incident, not as if it were one more battle in a long war. And he offers help in an investigation for the same reason: if U.S. officials do end up helping the French with an investigation of this latest jihad massacre, they will like come back with a characteristically Obamoid conclusion: they’re unable to determine the motive of the perpetrator.

The truck was loaded with explosives and hand grenades as it plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France, Thursday night. It was no accident: Nice authorities emphasized that it was a terror attack, which was fairly clear already from the fact that the driver exchanged gunfire with police after he rammed into the crowd.

At least eighty people are dead and 68 wounded, and Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi calls it “the worst tragedy in the history of Nice.” But given the harsh realities of the contemporary world, it probably won’t be the worst for long.

Jihadis have had their eyes on France for quite some time. The Islamic State issued this call in September 2014:

So O muwahhid, do not let this battle pass you by wherever you may be. You must strike the soldiers, patrons, and troops of the tawaghit. Strike their police, security, and intelligence members, as well as their treacherous agents. Destroy their beds. Embitter their lives for them and busy them with themselves. If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be….If you are not able to find an IED or a bullet, then single out the disbelieving American, Frenchman, or any of their allies. Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him….

Yes, “run him over with your car.”

Then again from the Islamic State in May 2016:

“The French must die by the thousands…. Towards paradise, that is the path….Come, brother, let’s go to paradise, our women are waiting for us there, with angels as servants. You will have a palace, a winged horse of gold and rubies….With a little rocket-launcher, you can easily get one of them… you do something like that in the name of Dawla (Islamic State), and France will be traumatised for a century.”

The French are already traumatized. The BBC reported last week that “more than 5,000 French police will be deployed at key venues in and around Paris ahead of the Euro 2016 football final between France and Portugal,” and that “there will be no victory parade if France wins.” Why not? For fear of jihad terror attacks.

The Bastille Day jihad massacre demonstrates that the answer to jihad attacks is not to curtail one’s activities and cower in fear. Even if free people do that, the jihadis will strike anyway. Even without a victory parade, the jihadis struck yet again in France. The response should not be to cower in fear, but to recognize that this is a war and act accordingly. France has just suffered a fresh attack in a war that is being fought by people in service of an ideology that France, like other Western countries, refuses to acknowledge even exists.

France, even as it is under serious attack by the warriors of jihad, continues to pursue policies that will only result in the arrival of still more Muslims to France – and with them will come jihad terrorists, and many, many more jihad massacres like the one on Bastille Day in Nice. French curtailing their activities for fear of being struck by jihadis did not save them. The Bastille Day jihad attack should be the last to take place under the regime of politically correct fantasy that forces law enforcement and intelligence officials to pretend that the threat is other than what it is, and that the remedy is to apply, one more time, policies that have failed again and again and again.

Bastille Day should be a day for the releasing of prisoners. In the war against the global jihad, the truth has been prisoner for too long. It is time to set it free – before it, too, becomes irrevocably a casualty of this war against an enemy no one dares name.

“On behalf of the American people, I condemn in the strongest terms what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack in Nice, France, which killed and wounded dozens of innocent civilians,” Obama said.

Question: did Franklin Delano Roosevelt, on behalf of the American people, condemn in the strongest terms every German and Japanese strike during World War II? Did he add that the U.S. administration was in touch with Hawaiian or Polish or French or Midway etc. officials and was ready to offer any assistance in the investigation?

The answer is no, because there was no need to offer such condemnations. The world was at war, and the world knew it was at war. The fact was obvious, as was which side each combatant was on. Nor was there any need for an investigation after each battle. Everyone knew what was going on, and why.

In reality, there is no need for an investigation, because the jihadi’s motive is obvious. There needs to be an admission that we are in a full-scale war — not just lip-service as French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve offers, but a genuine acknowledgment, followed by a genuine war footing, and an end to the weepy memorials, empty condemnations, and po-faced get-nowhere investigations. This is not crime. This is war.

NEW YORK CITY, New York — Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump will confirm earlier reports that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is his pick for vice president (VP) on Friday, and the two will appear jointly together on Saturday in New Jersey.

Trump originally planned to announce his VP on Friday at 11 a.m. in New York City, but postponed the event due to the terrorist attack in Nice, France.

Reports surfaced on Thursday afternoon that Trump’s VP pick was Pence. Trump had reportedly been choosing among Pence, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — who he all met with earlier this week.

It is yet unclear whether the “Tunisian brother” who carried out the truck-ramming massacre in Nice on Thursday was commissioned by the Islamic State (IS) leadership or acted on his own, a top Salafi jihadist leader allied with IS ideology in the Gaza Strip told Breitbart Jerusalem.

Abu Alayna Al-Ansari, an IS loyalist, said he believes the attack was a “classic lone wolf” operation, inspired by the jihadi Abu Mohammad al-Julani, the IS spokesperson, who called upon young Muslims from around the world to carry out attacks such as Thursday night’s.

Ansari is a well-known Gazan Salafist jihadist allied with Islamic State ideology.  In previous interviews, Ansari seemed to be speaking as an actual IS member, repeatedly using the pronoun “we” when referring to IS and even seemingly making declarations on behalf of IS.

IS loyalists reportedly celebrated the attack on social media. The perpetrator was identified to the news media by French police sources as 31-year-old Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a Tunisian who last visited France two years ago.

Ansari said in his estimation IS will only claim responsibility if it actually commissioned the attack.

“We’ve seen that some weeks ago, in France, when the Mujahed, the hero Abdullah Alaroussi killed the French policeman and his lover after pledging allegiance to IS and to the Caliph Abu Bakr al Baghdadi,” he said. “And also in the case of Orlando, with the Mujahed Omar Mateen, the organization claimed responsibility only after it was clear that the perpetrator had pledged allegiance to IS and its leader.

“These are two cases that attacks were carried out by Mujahedeen with whom the organization was familiar. It did not claim responsibility for other attacks that were carried out in the West, even when it was clear that they were inspired by IS’ ideology and carried out by its sympathizers.”

“An attack against the French while they’re celebrating their national day sends an important message to the infidels, whereby they will not enjoy peace so long as their governments commit crimes against Muslims around the world,” he added.

French President Francois Hollande’s pledge to continue fighting against IS “indicates that he failed to get the message, and that it is incumbent upon our brothers to continue sending him similar messages, in their own way, until he gets it.

“Hollande, in effect, invited the Mujahedeen to carry out a similar attack to the one that rocked Paris a few months ago. He can rest assured it will happen. Our brothers are currently working on the next major attack in France and the other terrorist infidel states in the world.”

Ansari dismissed any possible link between the attacks and recent IS setbacks in Syria and Iraq.

“For the leadership of the Islamic State, control of territory is not nearly as important as continuing to develop the operational skills of our brothers in the infidel states, to carry out attacks in America which is the number one terrorist and anti-Muslim state in the world, and the other infidel states, in retaliation against the crimes they commit against Muslims,” he said.

Asked how he could justify the killing of women and children, as well as French Muslims, Ansari said: “Islam opposes the killing of women and children, but these families, by virtue of taking part in the French national celebration, express their support for their government’s policy to send thousands of troops to kill Muslims in central Africa, in Iraq, Syria and other places.

“So I don’t understand why people are taken aback when they are hit by our brothers who retaliate against their governments’ crimes. Who said that the lives of these women and children are worth more than the lives of ours? Why should they enjoy peace and security when our women and children don’t? These governments who send troops to fight against terror are the representatives of terror in the world.”

Regarding potential Muslim victims in Nice, Ansari said: “Our belief says that what Muslims felt in their hearts when they died is what counts. If they celebrated, their death was their punishment. And if they were passersby, they are martyrs. However the most important thing is that the Crusader, infidel countries know that there’s a price for the killing of Muslims by the US, France, Germany and other countries. These countries will continue to pay a price for their participation in crimes against Muslims.”

The Obama Factor (8)

July 15, 2016

The Obama Factor (8), Power LineScott Johnson, July 15, 2016

After the horrifying massacre in Nice last night we are at risk of misdirecting our anger. The perpetrator seems to be another in the line of those inspired by ISIS. ISIS must be destroyed.

ISIS grew in Iraq in the vacuum that followed our withdrawal. Our withdrawal is attributable directly to the deepest wishes of President Obama. He was proud of it. It was nevertheless a mistake for which he and his Secretary of State and others bear direct responsibility.

Obama also holds a sophisticated attitude toward the phenomenon of ISIS that has fostered our lax response to its depredations. Perhaps the most dispiriting element of President Obama’s 2015 Vox interview with Matthew Yglesias was Obama’s likening of terrorism to a problem of domestic law enforcement. Obama drew an analogy between terrorism and crime control. We need to keep the lid on and do our best to reduce it. But we’re not in a war where the enemy is recognized or the object is victory. Terrorism is one of those things we have to learn to live with.

Where did that come from?

Obama’s thinking echoes that of former senior CIA officer Paul Pillar in the ill-timed book on terrorism that he published just before 9/11. Indeed, Obama’s Middle East foreign policy generally echoes Pillar’s thinking, including its patent hostility to Israel and wishful thinking about Iran. (I have wondered whether Pillar’s thinking might not represent an unconnected dot in Michael Doran’s tour de force on Obama’s secret Iran strategy.)

Shortly before 9/11 Pillar took a leave from the CIA to write Terrorism and U.S. Foreign Policy. Gabriel Schoenfeld took a detailed look at the book in the Commentary essay “Could September 11 have been averted?” Schoenfeld’s subsequent exchange with Pillar and others in Commentary’s letters to the editor is accessible online here.

In the book Pillar argued most famously that counterterrorism efforts were properly to be likened, not to a “war,” but rather to “the effort by public-health authorities to control communicable diseases” or the effort to improve “highway safety,” where regulators “can reduce deaths and injuries somewhat” by taking action on a variety of fronts but without any false idea of “defeating” the problem. Although Schoenfeld found the book “both authoritative and exceedingly well-informed,” he observed in the light of September 11 that the book’s conclusions “seemed not just wide of the mark but almost risible.”

As with Pillar, so with Obama. Obama’s attitude toward the ISIS phenomenon is one of high-minded complacency. With his characteristically bad timing, he fatuously disparaged ISIS as the junior varsity just as they began their resurgence in Iraq. This PolitiFact column usefully explicates Obama’s comment with background and links while finding the White House guilty of lying about it.

Only this past March Obama put it this way: “Groups like ISIL can’t destroy us, they can’t defeat us. They don’t produce anything. They’re not an existential threat to us. They are vicious killers and murderers who perverted one of the world’s great religions. And their primary power, in addition to killing innocent lives, is to strike fear in our societies, to disrupt our societies, so that the effect cascades from an explosion or an attack by a semi-automatic rifle.”

As Paul suggests, it seems to me that this is the attitude reflected in the policy that leaves us where we are today.

I had the sick feeling this would happen; here’s how we MUST respond…, Allen B. West, July 14, 2016

Earlier this year I had the sick feeling the enemy knew this year was their last year, their chance to inflict levels of carnage unseen. And if we do not make the correct decision come November 2016, –and let me remind you, it was Hillary Clinton who stated “we must empathize with our enemies” — this will only escalate further.

We need to identify the enabler groups that are effectively well-dressed suit-wearing stealth jihadists and shut down their operations. Funny, there are Muslim nations that have declared the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) as a terrorist group, along with the Muslim Brotherhood, and we fail to do it?

No more just moving on after we bury our dead and have 96 hours of intense media coverage. No more insidious “sit-ins” about gun control by petulant left wing progressive socialists. Alexander the Great said, “I would not fear an army of lions if led by sheep, but I would fear an army of sheep if led by a lion.” It is time to select lions to lead this nation — men and women of courage and resolve, not petty apologists and Islamist sympathizers.

*********************

They are our longest running ally, and it was their version of Independence Day — Bastille Day. Sadly, the country that gave us the Marquis de Lafayette, whose portrait is displayed in our House of Representatives chamber, has once again been attacked. Attacked again by Islamic terrorism, jihadism, and we send, once again, our condolences to France.

But, I have to ask, when are we going to stop sending condolences? Friday evening I will be in Chattanooga for the “American Heroes Dinner.” It was not too long ago that an Islamic jihadist fired on a military recruiting station and then killed five Marines and Sailors, who were unarmed, at the Naval Reserve Support Facility there. Nothing. San Bernardino, nothing. Orlando, nothing. Charlie Hebdo, nothing. Paris Islamic terror attack: declaration that it meant war, then nothing. Brussels, nothing. Istanbul airport, nothing. Bangladesh, nothing.

Well, let me correct that statement, there are speeches, rhetoric and false narratives about gun control and statements of containment. For some that is something. To the enemy it is nothing.

Americans are beheaded and it’s off to play golf. Americans are abandoned to fight for their lives against Islamic jihadists, and we have a president, and a wannabe president, lie. And what happens to them? Nothing. We keep hearing about bringing those responsible to justice — as if this is about knocking on a door, apprehending them, reading them Miranda rights, and then trying them — well, just releasing them, since detaining them is the nexus of their recruitment to kill us.

Who among you are sickened by the abject weakness displayed by Western elected officials? As I am writing this, there are some 77 dead, close to 100 who are wounded, and the death toll could go higher.

We throw ourselves into gyrations about measured responses, restrictive rules of engagement, and reduction of collateral damage. In other words, we are providing the enemy sanctuary because of our reticence to unleash hell upon them. The people in Nice were not considered for collateral damage; they were brutally and savagely run down and shot — just as in Orlando, Paris, Brussels, San Bernardino — and the list goes on.

Upon Neville Chamberlain’s return from Germany with the Munich Accord, and his statement of “peace in our time,” Winston Churchill chided him stating, “you had a choice between dishonor and war, you chose dishonor and we shall have war.”

This is where we are, and this is where Barack Obama and the progressive socialist left have taken us. We are being dishonored, killed, and we are told that actions are being taken to avoid war — hardly so. This 21st century battlefield of non-state, non-uniformed belligerents, Islamic fascism, has come to our shores and is killing our citizens. And these leftist cowards are telling us here in America that this is all about more gun control. This is their narrative, as ISIS is all over social media once again celebrating. And as I shared with you earlier today, our aviation maintenance crews are scouring aircraft boneyards for our combat aircraft readiness.

This MUST end, and it must end now — sadly, there will be no replacement of leadership at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue until next year January. Sadly, we do not have a parliamentary system where a vote of NO CONFIDENCE can be taken and we get a new Prime Minister.

But we can start to prepare to rectify this travesty and lay the plans to begin the crushing of militant Islamic jihadism and fascism. And if you like your coexist bumper sticker, fine, just stay out of our way.

We must rebuild our military from the ground up, while reducing the bureaucratic overhead. We must prepare for strike operations and not nation building. This is not about launching some cruise missiles. This is about a concerted global effort with a dedicated coalition to eradicate any and all sanctuaries.

We must find the ISIS centers of gravity and surround Raqqa and reduce it, along with Mosul. At home, we must pursue any and all clerics and mosques that are proselytizing radical hatred and deport them. We must enact stringent immigration measures against single military-age Muslim males and focus on any country that has Islamic terror operations. We must declare war against Islamic fascism and define it in very specific terms and not provide any cover for seditious speech on our shores.

Our men and women in uniform are chomping at the bit to deliver a first rate ass whipping on these jihadis. Sadly, the Obama administration is probably preparing to send John Kerry and James Taylor to sing another duet. It’s almost as if the progressive socialists are aligned with the Islamic fascists in not bringing the full bear of our power against this barbarism…and this is about a religion. It has been so for almost 1400 years and a drone strike here and there is not sending the message.

Report: French Government Covered-Up Torture of Bataclan Victims to Avoid Offending Muslims Victims allegedly had testicles cut off and shoved in their mouth

July 14, 2016

Source: Report: French Government Covered-Up Torture of Bataclan Victims to Avoid Offending Muslims » Alex Jones’ Infowars: There’s a war on for your mind!

Did the French government cover-up details about how victims of the Bataclan Theatre massacre were tortured and killed in order to avoid offending Muslims?

That’s the charge being made by French nationalist Boris Le Lay, whose website points to newly released documents from a parliamentary inquiry into the November 13 ISIS massacre in Paris that claimed the lives of 130 people.

The documents discuss reports of how some Bataclan victims had their testicles cut off and stuffed in their mouth, a common atrocity committed by jihadist militants across the Middle East.

Other victims were “gutted” or “decapitated” while others had their eyes gouged out as Islamists filmed the gruesome scenes.

A father of one of the victims claimed that the Institut médico-légal de Paris told him that his son had had his testicles cut off. When the father went to identify the body, he was only shown the left half of his son’s face, but subsequently noticed that the victim’s right eye had been removed.

François Molins, the public prosecutor for Paris, denies claims that any of the victims were tortured in such a manner, asserting that no bladed weapons were found at the scene.

However, people who escaped the Bataclan later told media outlets said they heard the screams of people being being tortured, with some claiming that ISIS jihadists sliced open the stomachs of their victims.

According to the website that highlighted the documents, the information about how the victims were tortured and killed was withheld from the public “to protect the image of Islam and Muslim masses, both in France and in Europe and beyond.”

If true, the issue wouldn’t be the only facet of the Bataclan attack that has prompted accusations of a cover-up.

As we previously reported, Eagles of Death Metal singer Jesse Hughes, who was playing at the Bataclan Theatre when it was targeted by ISIS jihadists, claimed that he saw Muslims celebrating in the streets after the Paris massacre.

Despite pressure to retract his comments Hughes also re-iterated his belief that security guards who were working at the Bataclan Theatre on the night of the attack were complicit in the massacre.

Saudi Funded Mosque Opens in Nice Before Attack

Saudi Funded Mosque Opened in Nice Two Weeks Before Attack

An Islamic Mosque, funded and owned by a hardline, “fundamentalist” Saudi Arabian cleric, opened in the Nice just two weeks before the Southern French city was struck by a deadly terror attack.

Town Mayor Christian Estrosi had fought a bitter legal battle with the French state in an attempt to stop it opening, claiming the owner, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh (pictured left) “advocates Sharia law and destroyed all the churches on the Arabian Peninsula.”

“Our intelligence agencies are worried about this place of worship,” the mayor said, before warned about “unregulated foreign funding,” according to French news site RTL.

Mr. Estrosi, mayor since 2008, argued that the project, which was initiated under his predecessor in 2002, was unauthorised. He took central government representative Prefect Adolphe Colrat to court but did not succeed.

Mr. Colrat accused Mr. Estrosi, who is a member of France’s centre-right The Republicans Party, of “feeding populism” and scapegoating the entire Muslim community to gain votes, AFP reported.

The Mosque, in an office district of Nice – AFP

The mosque opened at the beginning of this month, and was described as “a real joy” by Ouassini Mebarek, a lawyer and head of a local religious association.

“But there is no smug triumphalism,” he told AFP. “This is recognition of the law, and a right to freely practise one’s religion in France in accordance with the values of French Republic”.

Cleric Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh is perceived to be a strict adherent of Wahhabism – the dominant strain of Islam in Saudi Arabi and the state religion – which has been described, variously, as “ultraconservative”, “austere”, “fundamentalist” and even “extremist”.

The revivalist movement is closely related to the Salafism practices by Islamic State (IS) terrorists, with the two terms – Salafi and Wahhabi – often considered synonymous and interchangeable.

Last night, at least 84 people died in the city, including children, after a lorry slammed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, France’s national day.

Identification papers found in the truck point to a 31-year-old Nice resident that held duel French and Tunisian citizenship. French President François Hollande declared it an “undeniable” terrorist attack.

Finally: Congress Asking UNRWA for Real Number of Palestinian Refugees

Both houses of Congress are at work to modify funding bills for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as part of an effort to investigate the very legitimacy of the decades-old agency, Michael Wilner reported in the Jerusalem Post Friday. Both the House and the Senate want the State Department to, once and for all, define the term “Palestinian refugee,” and while they’re at it, reveal how many are receiving aid from UNRWA.

UNRWA was established in 1948 to assist the 750,000 Palestinians who had left Israel. Since then UNRWA has been a promoter of the Palestinian cause, funding as many as 5 million “refugees,” the majority of whom never left the homes where they were born in the Gaza Strip, the “West Bank,” eastern Jerusalem, or other Arab countries, to the tune of $1.23 billion annually, $250 million of which is donated by US taxpayers.

Many in Congress have been saying, since about 2012, that the majority of Palestinians are permanently settled, and should not be under the jurisdiction of a refugee agency.

Needless to say, Wilner points out, “such a finding would fundamentally change the narrative of the decades-old conflict.”

The first Palestinian census was completed 15 years ago, and the head of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) admitted then that the census was, in effect, “a civil intifada” rather than a scientific survey. In 2011 the Bureau attempted to correct that blatant misrepresentation, claiming that 2.6 million Palestinian Arabs inhabit Judea and Samaria.

But Israeli demographer Yoram Ettinger challenged those numbers, claiming they overstated the real number of Arabs there by as much as 66%. He explained that the PCBS’s total counts 400,000 Palestinians living overseas, and double-counts 240,000 Jerusalem Arabs. It also undercounted Palestinian emigration.

In 2014, UNRWA came up with the figure of 5 million Palestinian refugees living in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, and the US responded by providing hundreds of millions of dollars for UNRWA’s health, education, and social service programs.

“UNRWA is sort of becoming an entitlement program of the Middle East, and the desire is to increase transparency on who actually are refugees relevant to that conflict,” a senior Senate aide familiar with the language told Wilner, suggesting the new bill “goes to the heart of the debate over UNRWA funding.”

Republicans in both houses have launched parallel efforts to compel the State Department to go on the record with who qualifies as a “Palestinian refugee,” and the combined version of the law, once passed, will compel the secretary of state to provide “a justification of why it is in the national interest of the United States to provide funds to UNRWA.”

The bill’s language continues: “Such justification shall include an analysis of the current definition of Palestinian refugees that is used by UNRWA, how that definition corresponds with, or differs from, that used by UNHCR, other UN agencies, and the United States Government, and whether such definition furthers the prospects for lasting peace in the region.”

And, naturally, “the committee directs that such report be posted on the publicly available website of the Department of State.”

Finally, it should be noted that there are two distinct definitions of the term “refugee” in international law.

A refugee, according to the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, is a person who is outside their country of citizenship because they have well-founded grounds for fear of persecution because of their race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, and is unable to obtain sanctuary from their home country or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail themselves of the protection of that country; or in the case of not having a nationality and being outside their country of former habitual residence as a result of such event, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to their country of former habitual residence.

It is rare for a refugee status to extend beyond the lifetime of the original refugee, because normally it is expected that their offspring will have settled someplace else.

Not so regarding Palestinian refugees, according to UNRWA’s definition of the term, which includes the patrilineal descendants of the original “Palestinian refugees,” limited to persons residing in UNRWA’s areas of operation in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.
