Following the rise in terror attacks across Israel, the legal defense organization Honenu is calling on Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) to fix the bureaucratic procrastination in his Ministry and in the police over gun licenses.

Honenu has been dealing with the issue for years and is finding more and more cases in which citizens, including members of emergency response teams and reserve officers in the IDF’s special forces units, are struggling to receive gun licenses, or lose their licenses for strange reasons. When they try to fix the problems, they are confronted by delays and barriers.

In most cases Honenu is able to restore the gun licenses, though doing so requires navigating through a complex bureaucratic process.

The organization states that most of the cases result from the opening of a criminal case, even if it’s over a minor issue unrelated to violence or if the file is immediately closed. Even these cases can result in a citizen losing his or her gun license due to a clerk’s decision.

Only a few weeks ago, a member of a local emergency response team approached Honenu after being informed that his personal gun license was being revoked due to a four-year-old criminal case that had been opened and immediately closed.

The case dealt with the man’s actions when someone infiltrated his community. Ultimately it was determined that he acted responsibly and the file was closed. Four years later, though, his license was revoked because of the existence of a police file on the man.

Honenu adds that the weapons are often returned, though it is a complicated process that can last for months, despite the fact that all those involved know that there is no reason to revoke the license.

“Bureaucracy is an annoyance that affects many citizens in all fields. But in this issue of gun licenses, it can truly endanger lives,” says Honenu director Shmuel Medad.

“We see, again and again, how armed civilians save lives, and where there are no weapons it can lead to serious damage. We call on Minister Erdan to shake up the system, to come to grips with what is happening and to make sure that there will not be a situation in which a gun license is revoked or delayed for no real reason. It’s not acceptable for an emergency response volunteer or officer in an elite unit to be disarmed during a time in which attack follows attack, only due to bureaucracy.”

Yariv Oppenheimer, leader of the Peace Now organization, condemned terror victim Yonatan Azarihab, who was wounded in a stabbing attack on Tuesday, for killing his assailant in the course of the attack.

Oppenheimer took to Twitter on Wednesday, blasting what he termed the “execution” of terrorists who were killed while carrying out violent attacks on Tuesday in Jaffa and Petach Tikva.

Oppenheimer’s comment referenced the attacks which left Taylor Force, an American tourist and US Army veteran dead and 10 others wounded in Jaffa, and the attack in Petach Tikva which left Azarihab, a haredi resident, seriously injured.

Azarihab was stabbed in the neck, but managed to remove the knife from his own body and use it to kill his attacker.

“This is how it goes from neutralizing terrorists to execution without trial”, Oppenheimer wrote about the incidents.

He blasted the media for ignoring what he describes as extra-judicial executions, saying “In the present atmosphere, no one in the media dares to report and deal with the issue.”

OMG: Dinesh D’Souza’s trailer for ‘Hillary’s America’ is simply astonishing

OMG: Dinesh D’Souza’s trailer for ‘Hillary’s America’ is simply astonishing

Dinesh D’Souza is a man who has paid a heavy price for his political activism, yet it has not slowed him down in the slightest. And now, as America stands at risk of seeing Hillary Clinton assume the power of the presidency, D’Souza is back to remind us not only of what motivates Hillary to seek power, but what has motivated the Democratic Party throughout its entire history.

The trailer for his new film is astonishing. Take a look:

The common thread through all this is that Democrats always take the position that maximizes their own political power. When that meant supporting slavery and opposing civil rights, that’s what they did. When times changed and they were able to amass more power by supporting civil rights, then they changed with the times – but only because it benefited them.

Today they maintain power by keeping as much of the population as possible dependent on government for their basic needs. I know we’ve been critical of Mitt Romney in recent days but he was right on the mark back in 2012 when he talked about the 47 percent of Americans who are reliant on government, and thus will always vote for the part of government reliance. Romney caught heat for it, but the truth is that the Democratic Party has made this happen on purpose. If you depend on them, then you will always vote for them. That’s why they favor every expansion of government and oppose any attempt whatsoever to curtail government – because that’s how they stay powerful.

The reason so many Democrats support Hillary in spite of her obvious flaws is that they don’t care about the flaws. They care about having someone in the White House who is part of this racket and will make a priority of maintaining it.

Dinesh D’Souza has a very compelling way of cutting through all the political nonsense and getting right down to just what it is that politicians are after with their rhetoric and the policies they put in place. And he’s not afraid to tell you the real history they would prefer for you to forget.

By the way, if you find that image up top – which was taken from the trailer – to be absolutely horrifying, good. You should. Like D’Souza, we’ve used many photos here that give you a chance to look into those eyes and get a sense of the person America could make the very big mistake of putting in power. I’m sure that’s not the image the Democrats will use when the time comes for her coronation, but they’re still trying to maintain power by presenting a celebrity Hillary whose image is quite different from the real person.

Don’t be fooled. When the full film hits theaters in July, you’ll have a chance to see what D’Souza calls “the secret history of the Democratic Party.” Before we let them maintain power for another four years, and foist Hillary on the rest of us precisely because she will play ball, you should know that history.

I know I’ll be there to see it. How about you?

Deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said on Wednesday that Israel’s “collapse” was near and that it had ten times more missiles than Hezbollah’s 100,000.

“The Zionist regime will collapse in the near future. When Hezbollah has stockpiled over 100,000 missiles, it means Iran has tens of times more than that. Iran is in possession of different classes of missiles, and this power is unstoppable,” said Brigadier General Hossein Salami, Fars News Agency reported.

“We have a large stockpile of ballistic missiles in different ranges. They are ready to hit enemies and targets from different parts of the country,” he said on the second day of IRGC missile tests.

Salami asserted that international sanctions on the country boosted the domestic production of missiles.

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC’s aerospace division, said on Wednesday that the country’s missiles fired during drills are “Iran-made and belong to the Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi nations, as well as all the oppressed people of the world.”

Separately, the spokesman for Iran’s atomic energy agency, Behrouz Kamalvandi, said the country needs nine nuclear power plants in the next 10 years for its energy needs, the official IRNA news agency reported.

He estimated that between 8 to 12 percent of the country’s electricity should be generated by nuclear power and there is a good possibility for the construction of two new power plants.

In the post-sanction era the idea has been warmly received, noting that there are a number of countries competing for the opportunity, asserted the Iranian official.

Russia warns North Korea over threats of nuclear strike

Russia has warned North Korea that threats to deliver “preventive nuclear strikes” could create a legal basis for the use of military force against the country, suggesting that even Pyongyang’s few remaining friends are growing concerned about its increasingly confrontational stance.

The Russian foreign ministry statement, which follows a North Korean threat to “annihilate” the US and South Korea, also criticises Washington and Seoul for launching the largest joint military drills yet to be held on the peninsula.

“We consider it to be absolutely impermissible to make public statements containing threats to deliver some ‘preventive nuclear strikes’ against opponents,” the Russian foreign ministry said in response to North Korea’s threats.

“Pyongyang should be aware of the fact that in this way the DPRK will become fully opposed to the international community and will create international legal grounds for using military force against itself in accordance with the right of a state to self-defense enshrined in the United Nations Charter,” continued the statement, translated by Itar Tass news agency.

Washington and Seoul launched their annual joint military exercises on the peninsula on Monday, stepping up the manoeuvres in response to North Korea’s fourth nuclear test in January and rocket launch in February.

But while the statement said Moscow was opposed to the tone of North Korea’s response, it also said the scale of the American-South Korean joint exercise put “unprecedented … military and political pressure on Pyongyang”.

“Naturally, as a state, which is directly named as an object of this kind of military activities, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) cannot but feel reasonably concerned for its security,” the statement said.

Pyongyang had said the drills, which are set to run to the end of April, are rehearsals for invading.

Russia has historically had close relations with North Korea, making its warning that the country may be laying itself open to military action particularly notable.

But one observer said Moscow’s response could be expected, given the tone of North Korea’s recent public statements.

“Pyongyang should be learning that the types of threats they continue to make will have consequences,” said Daniel Pinkston, a Seoul-based North Korea researcher at Troy University.

“The security dilemma dynamics that the behaviour and rhetoric set in motion are making Son’gun Korea less secure, not more secure,” he said. “This is the flaw in their national security strategy, and it will continue to be exposed in the future.”

Another North Korea watcher said the statement might be better viewed as a warning to Pyongyang of what others might do, rather than Russian actions in particular.

“Russia is pointing out to North Korea that its inflammatory rhetoric risks giving its opponents – primarily South Korea and the US – just cause to pursue military action against it,” said regional expert Christopher Green.

Inter-Korean relations have worsened significantly in recent weeks, with Pyongyang showing particular sensitivity to the UN sanctions agreed last week.

Police Issue Warning in Sweden to Women: Don’t Go Out Alone

Police Issue Warning in Sweden to Women: Don’t Go Out Alone, Clarion Project, Meira Svirsky, March 9, 2016

Much to the consternation of the city’s mayor, police in Östersund, Sweden have begun to warn women not to go out alone.

Officers first advised women not to walk alone at night after a rash of reports of violence against women by migrants.

“Now the police are going out and warning women against travelling alone in the city [altogether]. We have seen a worrying trend,” said regional police chief Stephen Jerand. “This is serious, we care about the protection of women and that is why we are going out and talking about this.”

Prior to the warning, women in Östersund, a picturesque, lakeside town in central Sweden, were subjected to six (recorded) attacks in the two weeks following Feb. 20. All the attacks were perpetrated by gangs of foreign men, ranging from violent assaults while attempting to rape women on the city’s streets to a groping attack of a group of 10-year old girls waiting at a bus stop.

Sweden took in 163,000 migrants last year alone, the highest percentage of migrants per capital than any other European country. The country, which offers one of the best packages of benefits to the newcomers, just recently imposed regulations to limit the number of immigrants pouring through their borders

In a heated and politically charged atmosphere, pitting the mayor, government officials and even women’s rights activists against the police, the officers said they “have a responsibility to tell people what is happening.”

“Police have previously been criticized for not going out and informing people. I am thinking of the example of the criticism over the ‘We Are Stockholm’ festival,” said Jerand, referring to an event last summer where police failed to protect women who were sexually assaulted en masse at a music festival. Police subsequently covered up the incident for months, saying that they did not want to incite a backlash by far-right activists in the city.

A news outlet reported that women’s rights advocates opposed the warning to due to “concerns that Sweden’s hard fought gender equality is being undermined by a blind obedience to the dogma of multiculturalism.”

For her part, the city’s mayor Ann-Sofie Andersson said she wished police had told her that they had intended to issue the warning before calling a press conference. “The solution can never be to not go out because of such a warning … It’s wrong if it calls on women to adapt to the criminals. It risks leading people the wrong way, if the victims must adapt to the perpetrators.”

All that may be true in the theoretical realm, but, unfortunately, in Sweden – as well as in other countries that have indiscriminately opened their borders to mass immigration from countries with histories of dominating women through violence – it is beyond that.

While staying home for women is obviously not a long-term solution, subjecting oneself to the possibility of rape is not either.

As the police have said, “We are not limiting anyone’s freedom. This is purely factual information.” Women would be wise to listen to this warning while they, along with the rest of the population, put pressure on their politicians to come up with a solution that doesn’t make the victims “adapt to the perpetrators.”

As we have warned before, failure to act by legitimate government will necessary push the solution into the hands of indiscriminating, far-right vigilantes.

That outcome will not be pretty.

Iran: The Deep State Endures

March 9, 2016

Iran: The Deep State Endures, Gatestone InstituteLawrence A. Franklin, March 9, 2016

♦ Western governments need to accept the harsh reality that the Islamic Republic of Iran remains a revolutionary regime. The IRGC has responsibility over all ballistic missile programs and research and development. The West also needs to internalize that all decisions over ballistic missiles and associated delivery systems, the pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability, export of the revolution, aggressive support of the Shi’a ascendancy in the Gulf and militant acts of inhumanity towards their own people are made by the deep state.

♦ In short, the Iranian regime is much more Islamic than a Republic. The regime’s most reviled and inveterate enemies remain Israel and the United States.

♦ Those Iranians opposed to the existing order have been broken physically and psychologically by a combination of regime cruelty and lack of support from the world’s democracies.

Despite the voluminous and biased reporting about the conclusions that should be drawn from Iran’s recent Majles (Consultative Assembly) elections, the results signify next to nothing.[1] Hundreds of candidates are disqualified from running by the Council of Guardians (COG) if they are judged to be opposed to the current Islamic regime, or on grounds of “moral turpitude” and other reasons that would be irrelevant in a true democracy. When given the limited choice from a thoroughly vetted set of pro-regime candidates, all of whom favor Islamic rule, the people will always vote for the more “liberal” of the alternatives. This is hardly surprising in a country where the existing martial, theocratic order remains highly unpopular.

Whatever the balance in the Majles between hardliners and those members who may be a bit more flexible on some economic and social issues, it matters little. There will always be a significant number of deputies who are former IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) men, and who will hector a President’s cabinet members and political allies about decisions which run afoul of “deep state” institutions.[2]

The political superstructure of Iran’s government is much like that of the former Soviet Union. The office of the President, the Majles, and the Civil/Criminal Court System have little real decision-making power in the Islamic Republic. They are more for show, for the people to let off steam, and for foreign observers who might imagine that from there, the seeds of democracy might take root.

Similar to all of the illusions and wishful thinking of the past, the Rouhani era will not usher in an Iran which will conduct itself like a conventional member of the nation-state system. The aforementioned superstructure institutions will remain superficial. Indeed, they serve as screen for the deep state institutions, which will not evolve. The unelected leaders of Iran’s deep state institutions are even more powerful today. No election has resulted in diminution of their power. These substructure institutions — the Council of Guardians, the Assembly of Experts, the Ministry of Information and Security (MOIS), the IRGC’s Intelligence Bureau, the Special Courts, and the Office of the Supreme Leader — remain largely insulated from external pressure and domestic transitory moods.

Western governments need to accept the harsh reality that the Islamic Republic of Iran remains a revolutionary regime. The IRGC has responsibility over all ballistic missile programs and research and development. The West also needs to internalize that all decisions over ballistic missiles[3] and associated delivery systems, the pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability, export of the revolution,[4] aggressive support of the Shi’a ascendancy in the Gulf [5] and militant acts of inhumanity towards their own people are made by the deep state.

In short, the regime remains much more Islamic than a Republic. The regime’s most reviled and inveterate enemies remain Israel and the United States.

Moreover, those Iranians opposed to the existing order have been broken physically and psychologically by a combination of regime cruelty and lack of support from the world’s democracies.[6] The people, though sullen, appear resigned to their fate. The dispirited state of the populace has proven advantageous for the ruling clique of the regime’s Praetorian Guard, the IRGC, the politically reactionary mullahs, and the economy’s kleptocrat-bureaucrats to rule with virtual impunity.

[1] A Majles in Islamic governments is more of a consultative assembly rather than a legislative body. It is more of a sounding board for various political constituencies. In fact, the original meaning of the term referred to a Council of Tribes. “The Oxford Dictionary of Islam” by John Esposito, 2003, p. 187. In Iran, it is the Council of Guardians which (Shuraya-e-Negahban) decides whether any bill passed by the Majles is theologically compatible with the Koran and Islam. Obama Administration: A UN Resolution That Would Divide Israel And Jerusalem Is Back In Play

Obama Administration: A UN Resolution That Would Divide Israel And Jerusalem Is Back In Play

By Michael Snyder, on March 8th, 2016

Source: Obama Administration: A UN Resolution That Would Divide Israel And Jerusalem Is Back In Play

According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House is considering drastic measures to reboot the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.  Among those measures is a UN Security Council resolution that would set the parameters for a two state solution and that would recognize East Jerusalem as the official capital of a Palestinian state.  If Barack Obama makes this move, it will almost certainly be before the election in November.  I had previously reported that France was ready to introduce a similar UN Security Council resolution back in September, but at that time the French backed off because they did not have full support from the Obama administration.  But now that Obama is approaching the end of his term, he suddenly seems more willing to make a bold move.

Remember, this is not just some Internet rumor.  This comes directly from an article that was just published in the Wall Street Journal that claims to have top White House officials as the source of this information.  According to those anonymous officials, the Obama administration is now ready to potentially move forward with the kind of UN Security Council resolution that I mentioned above…

The strongest element on the list of options under consideration would be U.S. support for a Security Council resolution calling on both sides to compromise on key issues, something Israel had opposed and Washington has repeatedly vetoed in the past.

The article goes on to say that the parameters of an agreement for a two state solution would be based on the 1949 armistice line but would allow for land swaps so that many Jewish settlements that have been built since 1967 would not be swallowed up by the new Palestinian state.

The Palestinians would be required to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, and East Jerusalem would receive full UN Security Council recognition as the capital of a new Palestinian state.  This is something that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised that he would never agree to.

But Barack Obama appears to be completely fed up with Netanyahu at this point, and that is why the White House is now strongly considering moving forward with a UN Security Council resolution.  Needless to say, this would represent a dramatic change in policy from previous administrations.  Here is more from the Wall Street Journal

Mounting a push for a Security Council resolution would be a significant shift in U.S. policy and one the Israeli government has feared could marshal international sentiment in a way that could make it harder to resist making concessions. Such a move could further strain already tense relations between Messrs. Obama and Netanyahu, who have clashed over U.S. diplomacy with Iran and the administration’s past attempts to forge a Middle East peace agreement.

Last year, the White House threatened to allow action at the U.N. to proceed without objection from the U.S. after Mr. Netanyahu said during his re-election campaign that he wouldn’t support a two-state solution. The Israeli leader subsequently walked back his statement, and the White House didn’t follow through with its threat.

Right now, 136 nations already formally recognize a Palestinian state.  But a Palestinian state has never had full UN Security Council recognition because the United States has always blocked efforts in that direction.

Many people don’t realize this, but if Obama throws his support behind such a resolution, it would be considered binding upon both the Israelis and the Palestinians.  The following comes from Israel National News

A Security Council resolution would be binding upon all parties, unlike General Assembly measures which are non-obligatory recommendations. Such a resolution would remain in force even after the president leaves office next January, effectively shaping the future of American policy in the region for Mr. Obama’s successors.

The resolution would require Israel cease construction over the Green Line and would force Israel to recognize eastern Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

Needless to say, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be absolutely furious if the Obama administration pushes forward with a UN Security Council resolution that would attempt to dictate a solution to the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Perhaps this explains why Netanyahu just cancelled a meeting with Barack Obama at the White House later this month

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declined an offer to meet President Barack Obama at the White House later this month and canceled his trip to Washington, the White House said on Monday, citing Israeli news reports.

Netanyahu’s decision to nix his U.S. visit marked the latest episode in a fraught relationship with Obama that has yet to recover from their deep differences over last year’s U.S.-led international nuclear deal with Iran, Israel’s arch-foe.

Of course there are lots of reasons why Netanyahu would potentially be upset with Obama.  In addition to the ridiculously bad Iran deal, we should also remember that Obama tried to help defeat Netanyahu during the last Israeli election, and the Wall Street Journal has reported that the Obama administration has been actively spying on Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders.

Barack Obama has stabbed Israel in the back over and over again, and so it would be absolutely no surprise if he decided to push for a UN Security Council resolution that would permanently divide the land of Israel and the city of Jerusalem.

Unfortunately, such a move would have very serious implications for all of us.  By dividing the land of Israel and the city of Jerusalem, Obama would be cursing our nation, and that is not something that any of us should want.

If Obama is going to do this, it will almost certainly happen before the election in November.

That means that we are looking at roughly an eight month time period.

Personally, because of how the UN schedule works, I would say that the most likely time for such a resolution to be introduced would be in September or October.  But it is definitely possible that it could come sooner than that.

For a long time, Barack Obama has expressed a desire to see the establishment of a Palestinian state before he leaves office.  Netanyahu has always been his nemesis in this regard, but now Obama seems determined to try to make something happen at the United Nations while he still has the power to do so.

Let us pray that he is not successful.
