Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday evening ordered security forces to speed up the process of demolition of terrorists’ homes and to continue to use administrative detentions against terrorists.

The directive came following a security assessment held by Netanyahu upon his return to Israel from New York, in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

“I’ve instructed to speed up the demolition of terrorists’ homes, the expansion of administrative detention of rioters, further reinforcement of forces in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and the removal of inciters from the Old City and the Temple Mount,” said Netanyahu.

Israel was “waging a fight to the death against Palestinian terror”, he added.

Arab riots on the Temple Mount began on the eve of Rosh Hashanah and have continued ever since, but in recent days tensions have risen in the wake of ongoing terrorist attacks in the region.

Overnight Saturday, a 15-year-old teenager was stabbed near the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City, suffering moderate-to-serious wounds.

The attack was the second attack in Jerusalem in a few hours. Two people were killed in an earlier stabbing attack in the Old City on Saturday evening.

Rabbi Nehemia Lavi, 41, and Aharon Banita Bennett, 21, were named as the victims of the earlier terrorist attack. The Islamic Jihad terrorist group in Gaza took credit for the murder, perpetrated by 19-year-old terrorist Mohannad Shafik Halabi.

That attack followed the brutal murders of Rabbi Eitam and Naama Henkin in Samaria on Thursday evening. They were shot to death by terrorists while in their car and in front of their four children.

Saudis Mull Launch Of Regional War As Russia Pounds Targets In Syria For Fourth Day

Saudis Mull Launch Of Regional War As Russia Pounds Targets In Syria For Fourth Day

While the US has certainly made some epic strategic blunders in Syria that raise serious questions about just how “intelligent” US intelligence actually is, there’s little doubt that if one were to look behind all of the media parroting, the Pentagon and Langley understand all too well what’s going on in the Middle East.

That is, the significance of the Russia-Iran “nexus” in Syria isn’t lost on anyone in the US military and you can bet there have been quite a few high level discussions over the past 72 hours about the best way to counter Moscow and Tehran’s powerplay before it spills over into Iraq and ends up degrading Washington’s influence in Baghdad.

As we put it on Friday, “if Russia ends up bolstering Iran’s position in Syria (by expanding Hezbollah’s influence and capabilities) and if the Russian air force effectively takes control of Iraq thus allowing Iran to exert a greater influence over the government in Baghdad, the fragile balance of power that has existed in the region will be turned on its head and in the event this plays out, one should not expect Washington, Riyadh, Jerusalem, and London to simply go gentle into that good night.”

Sure enough, some experts now predict Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey will move to counter Russia militarily if Moscow continues to rack up gains for Assad. Here’s The Guardian with more:

Regional powers have quietly, but effectively, channelled funds, weapons and other support to rebel groups making the biggest inroads against the forces from Damascus. In doing so, they are investing heavily in a conflict which they see as part of a wider regional struggle for influence with bitter rival Iran.

In a week when Russia made dozens of bombing raids, those countries have made it clear that they remain at least as committed to removing Assad as Moscow is to preserving him.

“There is no future for Assad in Syria,” Saudi foreign minister Adel Al-Jubeir warned, a few hours before the first Russian bombing sorties began. If that was not blunt enough, he spelled out that if the president did not step down as part of a political transition, his country would embrace a military option, “which also would end with the removal of Bashar al-Assad from power”. With at least 39 civilians reported dead in the first bombing raids, the prospect of an escalation between backers of Assad and his opponents is likely to spell more misery for ordinary Syrians.

“The Russian intervention is a massive setback for those states backing the opposition, particularly within the region – Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey – and is likely to elicit a strong response in terms of a counter-escalation,” said Julien Barnes-Dacey, senior policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations.

As the Syrian civil war has unfolded, Saudi Arabia has been clear about its position, say analysts. “Since the beginning of the uprising in Syria, the view in Riyadh has been that Bashar al-Assad must go. There is no indication what-soever that Riyadh will change this position,” said Mohammed Alyahya, associate fellow at the King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh.

“What is clear to Riyadh and its regional allies is that the recent Russian and Iranian escalation will only create a more unstable region and spill more blood,” he said.

Riyadh has focused support on rebels in the south, say analysts, while allies Turkey and Qatar have reportedly backed northern rebels, including conservative Islamist militias such as Ahrar al Sham.

That group, in alliance with the al-Qaida affiliate Jabhat al Nusra, recently reached a local ceasefire deal with Assad in the north. Its success in taking on government forces is thought to have been one trigger for the Russian bombing campaign and put them among the jets’ first targets.

“Most probably, the coming efforts will focus on boosting the effectiveness of major coalitions, co-ordination and co-operation between the most influential and effective groups in Syria,” said regional analyst Ali Bakeer.

Of course that isn’t going to work.

Say what you will about how successful guerilla/urban warfare can be when it comes to bogging down a conventional army (examples of this include Vietnam, the Soviet-Afghan war, and Somalia during the Black Hawk down debacle), but the disorganization of the Syrian resistance combined with the fact that Iran has its own well-armed militias on the ground that, in combination with Hezbollah, are providing the ground support for Russian airstrikes, means the situation is all but hopeless for the various Riyadh- and Doha-backed groups operating in Syria.

The only way to turn the tide here would be to intervene directly.

But just as Iran is unwilling to risk direct intervention on behalf of the Houthis in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Qatar will likely be unwilling to risk direct intervention on behalf of their proxy armies in Syria. The problem for Riyadh and Doha: Syria is a lot more strategically important than Yemen. Here’s The Guardian again:

Saudi Arabia and Qatar are already embroiled in an expensive and bloody war in Yemen that may limit both their military and financial resources. They have also so far deferred to western bans on transferring hi-tech weapons – including missiles that could take down aircraft – over fears that they might change hands in the chaos of the war and be used against their makers.

“The uncertain question today is the degree of power combined with efficiency that regional powers will be willing to bring to the table,” said Barnes-Dacey. “Do the Saudis now try to take matters decisively into their hands, including by providing rebels with sophisticated weaponry long denied them?

“The new [Saudi] king [Salman] has shown a willingness to be much more assertive and take measures into the kingdom’s own hands. If the Saudis see the situation slipping out of their hands, and there is a real sense that the Iranians are consolidating their position in Syria, you could see much stronger response.”

And speaking of a “strong response,” Russia continued to hit anti-regime targets for a fourth consecutive day on Sunday, making good on the Defense Ministry’s promise to step up strikes. Here’s Reuters:

Air strikes by suspected Russian jets hit targets around the town of Talbiseh in western Syria on Sunday, residents and a group which monitors the civil war in Syria said, a day after Russia promised to step up its air campaign.

Ambulances rushed wounded people to hospital in Talbiseh, north of the city of Homs, and one resident said at least five bodies had been recovered from the western part of the town.

“So far there are seven or six raids in the town,” said Abdul Ghafar al Dweik, a former government employee and volunteer rescue worker.

He said he believed the raid was carried out by Russian jets. “They come suddenly… With the Syrian planes, we would get a warning but now all of a sudden we see it over our heads,” he said.

We have said time and again that there’s no question Russian airstrikes will contribute to human suffering in Syria. After all, when you drop bombs on populated areas you’re bound to kill civilians (including women and children) no matter what Moscow says. However, the highlighted passages above shouldn’t come as a surprise. If you want your airstrikes to be effective, you’re not going to warn anyone about them beforehand unless of course you’re dropping a nuke in which case you can tell civilians to leave ahead of time because you’re reasonably sure the destruction will be so vast as to make the element of surprise a non-factor.

As for the effectiveness of the strikes, The Kremlin is out again claiming that ISIS is on its heels. Via Bloomberg and the Russian Defense Ministry (translated):

  • Russian warplanes have made 20 sorties, attacked 10 ISIS targets in Syria in past 24h, Russian Defense Ministry says on website.
  • Air force has attacked militant training camps in Raqqa, Idlib provinces; destroyed explosives workshop
  • Warplanes destroyed at least 4 ammunition depots, several command posts
  • Russian forces have broken “the management and logistics of the terrorist organization” and caused “significant damage to the infrastructure used for preparation of terrorist attacks”

And here’s David Cameron repeating the Assad “butcher” accustations (again, via Bloomberg):

Russia is “backing the butcher Assad, which is a terrible mistake for them and for the world,” Cameron told BBC Television’s “Andrew Marr Show” on Sunday. “It’s going to make the region more unstable, which will lead to further radicalization and increased terrorism.”

Cameron continued: “I would say to them change direction, join us in attacking ISIL but recognize that if we want to have a secure region we need an alternative to Assad,” using an alternative designation for Islamic State. Assad “can’t unite the Syrian people.”

Yes, Assad “can’t unite the Syrian people”, because clearly that’s what this is all about, which explains why the West has been doing anything and everything to promote disunity among Syrians for the better part of a decade, and on that note, we close with the following excerpt from a leaked diplomatic cable penned by then-Deputy Head of Mission in Syria William Roebuck in 2006 which shows just how concerned the West is with Syrian “unity”:

— PLAY ON SUNNI FEARS OF IRANIAN INFLUENCE:  There are fears in Syria that the Iranians are active in both Shia proselytizing and conversion of, mostly poor, Sunnis.  Though often exaggerated, such fears reflect an element of the Sunni community in Syria that is increasingly upset by and focused on the spread of Iranian influence in their country through activities ranging from mosque construction to business. Both the local Egyptian and Saudi missions here, (as well as prominent Syrian Sunni religious leaders), are giving increasing attention to the matter and we should coordinate more closely with their governments on ways to better publicize and focus regional attention on the issue.

“450 militants turn themselves in to Syrian authorities”

Reports say hundreds of militants have turned themselves in to authorities in southern Syria.
State news agency, SANA reported that about 400 and 50 gunmen gave up their arms and handed them over to officials in Dara’a province. 200 and 50 wanted people also did the same as part of the government’s national reconciliation efforts. The weapons handed over include rocket launchers, machine guns and sniper rifles. Many militants have in the past broken ranks with their groups and joined Syrian forces fighting terrorist groups.

This is what Muslim morality looks like. And it’s not the worst of it. Back before Israel’s War of Independence, Muslims sold photo postcards of murdered Jews.

On Sunday afternoon Adelle Banita-Bennett 22 years old, widow of Aharon Banita-Bennett, who herself was seriously injured in the stabbing attack Saturday night in Old City of Jerusalem, woke up from medical coma she had been placed under in order to enable doctors to treat her.

Among the first people she spoke to was Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi David Lau, whom she told in detail about the attack.

The widow told Rabbi Lau that she attempted to escape from the terrorist after the stabbing began.

“I ran for dozens of meters with a knife in my shoulder, bleeding. Arabs in the area who saw this horrible scene clapped and laughed, and told that they hoped for my quick death. I felt I was about to faint,” she said. “I tried to hold on to someone who passed by, and they just shook me off and kicked me, and said ‘die.’”

“I did not understand what was happening to me. I felt someone on my back and then I saw my husband begin to confront him. Aaron punched him hard in the face. He really fought him.”

Suddenly the terrorist left her husband and began attacking her. He began stabbing her and then returned to her husband. “There were many Arabs (Muslims) around who watched it happen. They only laughed and grinned. I begged them for help. “Help me. Help me.”…

“I told them I was wounded and my husband and kids were back there.

“All the way that I ran, I heard curses, shouts. They were like animals. I felt it was organized.”

Adelle’s husband was a Haredi Orthodox corporal in the IDF. Here’s what happened in this latest racist Muslim terror attack on Jews.

Mohannad Shafik Halabi from Al-Bireh near Ramallah in Samaria of Islamic Jihad drew a a knife and attacked the Bennett family near Lions’ Gate as they were making their way to the Western Wall.

Hamas issued a statement that praised the “heroic operation.” The Islamic Jihad terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, calling the terrorist “one of our sons.”

The victims were identified as Rabbi Nehemia Lavie, 41, of Jerusalem, and Aharon Bennett, 22, of Beitar Ilit. Bennett’s wife was in serious condition after undergoing surgery in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

Adelle Banita, who is being treated in Hadassah Medial Center, will be reunited this evening with her two-year-old daughter who suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg.

This is the constant reality of living next door to Islam. Islam is a fundamentally racist supremacist creed. That is why it’s in conflict with Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews and even itself.

Coexistence with Islam is made impossible by Islamic hatred and violence.

Trump: Middle East would be more stable if Saddam, Gaddafi still in power

Trump: Middle East would be more stable if Saddam, Gaddafi still in power

Source: Trump: Middle East would be more stable if Saddam, Gaddafi still in power – Middle East – Jerusalem Post

US Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said on Sunday the Middle East would be more stable if Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein were still in power in Libya and Iraq, saying it’s “not even a contest.”

Trump mentioned the countries in comparison to current efforts to drive Syrian President Bashar Assad out of power.

“You can make the case, if you look at Libya, look at what we did there, it’s a mess,” Trump said on NBC.

“If you look at Saddam Hussein with Iraq, look what we did there, it’s a mess. It’s going to be the same thing” in Syria, he said.

Asked by NBC’s Chuck Todd if the Middle East would be more stable with Gaddafi and Saddam in power, Trump replied, “Of course it would be.”

Trump, who leads the field of Republicans seeking the presidency in the November 2016 election in public opinion polls, has said he supports Russian efforts to fight Islamic State militants, even though Russia has backed Assad.

Trump said last week Assad might be replaced by someone worse if he were ousted.

The White House opposes both Islamic State and Assad, blaming him for attacks on civilians that have radicalized the opposition. President Barack Obama warned Russia on Friday that its campaign in Syria would pull Moscow into a “quagmire.”

Taliban claims to recapture large parts of Kunduz city –

Taliban claims to recapture large parts of Kunduz city Armed group says it controls most parts of city after it was briefly taken by government forces backed by US strikes.

The Taliban has reportedly regained control of large parts of the northern city of Kunduz, after days of intense fighting against Afghan troops backed by US air strikes, Al Jazeera has learnt.

Earlier on Sunday, government forces, which have been trying to take control of the city, said they had made gains, but those appear to have been shortlived.

Al Jazeera’s Qais Azimy, reporting from Puli Khumri just south of Kunduz, said that at around 1200 GMT, Taliban fighters launched counter-attacks, driving back government forces from the areas, where they had earlier made gains.

Residents in Kunduz have told our correspondent that more than 100 people have died, but exact figures are hard to arrive as those dead and injured are stuck in their homes due to the fighting.

Images also showed streets of the city strewn with dead bodies.

“It is a very fragile situation. Afghan security officials are telling us that they are suffering from lack of leadership and coordination,” he said.

Even with the deployment of 7,000 troops, our correspondent said, the government is still unable to retake the strategic city.

In a big jolt to the government of President Ashraf Ghani, the Taliban launched an attack and captured the northern strategic city on Monday.

“They are also telling us, that they are moving slowly, because they claim the Taliban fighters are hiding in residential areas. They said, they want to avoid civilian casualties, so they have to do door-to-door search.”

A Kunduz residents, who just escaped the city to Puli Khumri, also confirmed to Al Jazeera that Taliban fighters have taken over civilians homes, and have refused to let residents leave.

Independent probe

The news comes as the medical charity group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced that it had withdrawn from the city, after an apparent US air strike that killed 13 of its staff and 10 patients.

Kate Stegeman, the communications manager for the group known for its French acronym MSF, said all critical patients have been referred to other health facilities and no MSF staff are working in the hospital.

“Some of our medical staff have gone to work in two hospitals where some of the wounded have been taken.”

In a separate interview, Bart Janssens, MSF director for operations, said that as of Sunday, there is “still no explanation why this attack happened”.

“Our building has been completely destroyed,” he told Al Jazeera.

Late on Sunday, MSF General Director Christopher Stokes issued a statement calling for an independent probe.

“Under the clear presumption that a war crime has been committed, MSF demands that a full and transparent investigation into the event be conducted by an independent international body,” he said.

RELATED: US investigates Afghan hospital air strike

MSF has denied that any fighters were present in the hospital, although Janssens said that it is “possible” that some of those who were being treated were wounded fighters.

Aminullah, a Kunduz resident, told Al Jazeera that all of the doctors were moving to Kabul or Mazar-e-Sharif, fearing for their lives.

His three children and wife “haven’t eaten for the past three days. We don’t even have a water supply. My children are falling sick and I don’t know where to take them”, he said.

“Forget about getting medical treatment, no one is able to even provide coffins for the dead bodies in the city.”

The charity said that despite frantic calls to US and Afghan military officials in Kabul and Washington, the attack continued.

In a statement released by the White House on Saturday, Obama offered his “deepest condolences” for what he called a “tragic incident”.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera has learned that at least seven doctors have arrived in Kunduz from capital Kabul, to help with the patients at the regional hospital there.

Earlier on Sunday, Al Jazeera’s Azimy said that only three doctors were taking care of at least 500 patients.

President Bashar Assad said a military campaign by Russia, Syria and its allies will decide the fate of the Middle East, and a year of US-led air strikes against Islamic State militants had only helped the spread of terrorism.

In an interview with Iranian television broadcast on Sunday, Assad said if Syria, Russia, Iran and Iraq unite in battling terrorism their efforts would yield practical results.

He was speaking days after Russian jets, based in western Syria, launched air strikes against targets Moscow has identified as Islamic State bases, but which Assad’s opponents say disproportionately hit rival, foreign-backed insurgents.

“The chances of this alliance’s success are big, not small,” Assad said, adding that failure would mean “we face the destruction of the whole region.”

He said a campaign of Western and Arab air strikes against Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria had been counterproductive and terrorism had spread both in terms of territory and new recruits.

Syria’s conflict grew out of protests against Assad’s rule in early 2011, which were put down by force and then turned violent, drawing in regional opponents and supporters of the Syrian leader.

Efforts to find a political solution to the civil war have so far proven fruitless, with most rebel fighters demanding Assad’s departure as a precondition for talks. Western states also say Assad must step aside, though most have softened their stance to say he could play some role in a transition period.

Assad said it was not for outside powers to decide Syria’s fate. “Discussion of the political system or officials in Syria is an internal Syrian affair,” the Syrian presidency’s Twitter feed quoted him as saying in the interview.

Palestinians: Why Our Leaders Are Hypocrites and Liars

October 4, 2015

Palestinians: Why Our Leaders Are Hypocrites and Liars, Gatestone InstituteBassam Tawil, October 4, 2015

  • We contaminate our mosques with our own hands and feet, and then blame Jews for desecrating Islamic holy sites. If anyone is desecrating Islamic holy sites, it is those who bring explosives, stones and firebombs into Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Jews who visit the Temple Mount do not bring with them stones, bombs or clubs. It is young Muslim men who are desecrating our holy sites with their “filthy feet.”
  • These leaders, including Abbas himself, are not willing to send their own children and grandchildren to participate in the “popular struggle.” They are fully responsible for sending the children of others to throw stones and firebombs at Jews. Sitting in their luxurious offices and villas in Ramallah, they demand that Israel be held responsible for cracking down on “innocent” Palestinians. Their main goal is to embarrass Israel and depict it as a state that takes tough measures against Palestinian teenagers.
  • These youths are not taking to the streets to fight “occupation.” Their main goal is to kill or cause grievous bodily harm to Jews. When someone tosses a firebomb at a house or a car, his intention is to burn civilians alive.
  • It is as if our leaders are saying that throwing stones and firebombs at Jews in their cars and homes is a basic right of Palestinians. Our leaders believe Israel has no right to defend itself against those who seek to burn Jews driving in their vehicles or sleeping inside their homes.

While Hamas and Islamic Jihad are continuing to exploit our teenagers in the Gaza Strip by training them to join the jihad against Jews and “infidels,” our leaders in the West Bank are committing a similar crime against Palestinian youths.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, who falsely describes himself as President of the State of Palestine, has been encouraging our teenagers to engage in the so-called “popular resistance” against Israel. But these leaders, including Abbas himself, are not willing to send their own children and grandchildren to participate in the “popular struggle.” As usual, our leaders want the children of others to take to the streets and throw stones and firebombs at Jews.

The “popular struggle” that the PA leadership is spearheading these days is anything but peaceful. In some instances, it has even proved to be lethal. Recently, Alexander Levlovich was killed after losing control of his vehicle in Jerusalem. Investigations showed that at least four Arab youths had pelted his car with stones, causing Levlovich to hit a tree.

During the past few months, hundreds of Palestinian teenagers from Jerusalem have been arrested for throwing stones and firebombs at Israeli vehicles. These teenagers have offered various explanations as to why they decided to take part in the “popular resistance” against Israel. Most of them said they wanted to protest against visits by Jews to the Temple Mount — an act described by our leaders as a “contamination” of Islamic holy sites. Mahmoud Abbas, who is by no means a devout Muslim, recently accused Jews of desecrating Al-Aqsa Mosque with their “filthy feet.”

Abbas and other senior figures in the Palestinian Authority leadership have also been issuing daily threats against Israel in response to perfectly peaceful visits by Jews to the Temple Mount. One of them, Mahmoud Habbash, even went as far as announcing that the visits by Jews to the Temple Mount would ignite a third world war.

It is this type of incitement that prompts our youths to hurl stones and firebombs at Jews. These youths are not taking to the streets to fight “occupation.” Their main goal is to kill or cause grievous bodily harm to Jews. Otherwise, how does one explain the fact that Palestinian teenagers have thrown dozens of firebombs at Jewish homes in the Old City? When someone tosses a firebomb at a house or a car, his intention is to burn civilians alive.

Our leaders, who are fully responsible for sending these teenagers to throw stones and firebombs at Jews, are sitting in their luxurious offices and villas in Ramallah and rubbing their hands with deep satisfaction. Abbas and several Palestinian leaders in the West Bank would like to see our youths rioting on the streets of Jerusalem and in the Temple Mount’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, so that they can hold Israel responsible for cracking down on “innocent” Palestinians. Their main goal is to embarrass Israel and depict it as a state that takes tough measures against Palestinian teenagers, whose only fault is participation in “popular resistance.”

After having incited our youths to engage in violence against Jews, our hypocritical leaders are now rushing to condemn new Israeli measures against stone-throwers. It is as if our leaders are saying that throwing stones and firebombs at Jews in cars and homes is a basic right of Palestinians.

One of the loudest hypocrites is Saeb Erekat, the veteran Palestinian negotiator who was recently elected Secretary-General of the PLO. Erekat, who never dispatched his sons and daughters to throw stones and firebombs at Jews, was quoted this week condemning Israel’s newly approved measures against Palestinian stone-throwers. He described these measures as “inhumane” and part of Israeli “incitement” against Palestinians.

Neither Erekat nor his boss, Mahmoud Abbas, has denounced the violence by Palestinians against Jews. The only time they issue condemnations is when Israel arrests teenagers for throwing stones and firebombs. Our leaders believe Israel has no right to defend itself against those who seek to burn Jews driving in their vehicles or sleeping inside their homes.

If anyone is desecrating Islamic holy sites, it is those who bring explosives, stones and firebombs into Al-Aqsa Mosque in the first place. For the past few months, dozens of Palestinian youths have used the mosque as a launching pad for attacking Jewish visitors and policemen on the Temple Mount. The Jews who visit the site do not bring with them stones, firebombs and clubs. It is young Muslim men who are desecrating our holy sites with their “filthy feet.”

Such reports show that Muslims have no respect for their religious sites. The images of masked youths inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, collecting stones for attacking Jews, also reveal the true intentions of the rioters and those behind them: to harm Jewish visitors and policemen, who anyway have no plans to enter the mosque.

1277Palestinian Arab young men with masks, inside Al-Aqsa Mosque (some wearing shoes), stockpile rocks to use for throwing at Jews who visit the Temple Mount, September 27, 2015.

We contaminate our mosques with our own hands and feet and then blame Jews for desecrating Islamic holy sites. Not only are we lying, but we are also displaying the highest level of hypocrisy and impudence. We plan and initiate the violence on the Temple Mount and elsewhere and then we run to complain to the world that Israel is arresting our youths “for no reason.”

It is obvious that our leaders are once again leading us toward a catastrophe. They want our children to get hurt or killed so that they can go to the United Nations and complain that Israel is using “excessive force” against the Palestinians. Our leaders, of course, do not tell the world that they are the ones inciting these young men to take to the streets and attack the first Jew they run into. Nor do they tell the world that it is Muslims, and not Jews, who are contaminating Islamic holy sites through their violent acts.

(JNi.media) Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior Hamas official, said that the conditions are ripe for a new intifada against Israel, but, unfortunately, the Palestinian Authority prevents it and uses its security forces to block the emerging uprising. In an interview with Hamas’ website, Al-Zahar said that the only way to protect the Al Aqsa mosque would be with the Arabs in Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem taking up weapons, but, as he put it, the sad reality is that these weapons are being used to protect the settlers.

“The image of Palestinians from the West Bank and Jerusalem throwing stones and Molotov cocktails has dealt a blow to the occupier,” Al-Zahar said.

So far, no Palestinian Authority officials have condemned the murders of Jews by Arabs in the past three days in Jerusalem.

Saeb Erekat, one of the Palestinian Authority negotiators of the Oslo accords and chief of the PLO Steering and Monitoring Committee until 2011, told Radio Palestine Sunday, following the lethal stabbing incidents in Jerusalem: “The events remind us of September 2000. Israel’s isolation is causing it to take forceful measures. Experience shows that you cannot deprive the Palestinians of their freedom by force.”

Erekat added: “We are in contact with leaders in the Arab international world, to prevent a large Israeli operation. We are preparing to convene the Palestinian leadership soon to start implementing the declarations stated in the Abbas [UN] speech.”
