Artist turns Kassam rockets into flowers and mezuzahs

September 14, 2018

I am proud to say that I own a piece of this artist’s work.

See pics below.

I am always walking around with a physical reminder of the creativity and life-affirming nature of the Jewish people, and of the destructiveness and death-loving nature of the followers of Mohammed.

Artist turns Kassam rockets into flowers and mezuzahs

Instead of therapy, Gaza area artist Yaron Bob turns Hamas rockets into mezuzot, flowers, and birds.

Holding aloft a missile fragment, Gaza-area artist Yaron Bob explains to a Kann interviewer that not long ago the projectile had penetrated an Israeli car.

“The incredible Iron Dome is Israel’s missile defense system. When rockets are fired into Israel, the Iron Dome shoots a missile to intercept the rocket, preventing destruction and the murder of innocent lives,” says the description of one item on Bob’s website.

“Bring Israel’s heavenly protection into your home with this limited-edition Mezuzah made from an actual Iron Dome missile!”

“I cut it into rectangles, polish it, and craft the mezuzot. My mezuzot get grabbed up all over the world. They cost between $150-200.”

Asked how much profit he can extract from a single Kassam missile, Bob makes a quick calculation and answers “About $2,000 per Kassam.”

A tour of his storage area reveals a representative variety of the weapons constantly aimed at Israel’s children: “Here are rockets that fell a month ago; this one’s a 120mm, this one’s a Grad. Wanna see a whole Grad?” he asks deferentially, and lifts one from the pile. “Made in China,” he says. “This one here fell in Dimona.”

The interviewer asks Bob,”How do you have all these types?” and Bob retorts, “How do they?”

His website, Rockets into Roses, describes other works of Bob: “Be in awe of this exquisite Menorah with seven branches, designed from actual rockets fired into Israel,” says another item description. “From the Hebrew and English inscriptions of ‘beat their swords into plowshares’ at its base to the intricate detail of each branch and candle-holder, this Menorah is absolutely extraordinary. Display this in your home and be inspired by what it represents – turning terror and darkness into peace and light, in a very literal sense!”

“Beautifully designed Rocket Rose sculpture, this handmade piece is made from Kassam rockets that fell in Israel. It features four beautiful long-stemmed roses coming out of a rocket, symbolizing the idea of growth emerging from destruction.”

From Hanoi Kerry to Tehran Kerry in 50 Short Years

September 14, 2018

Former secretary of state and failed Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry has been trying to salvage Obama’s awful Iran Deal – by going around the Trump administration and holding meetings with Iran. Who elected Kerry?

FOX News reports:

“John Kerry slammed for ‘shameful’ shadow diplomacy after admitting to meetings with Iran”

Former Secretary of State John Kerry is being slammed for conducting shadow diplomacy with Iran after admitting to multiple meetings with Iranian officials behind the backs of the Trump administration — including over the scrapped nuclear deal.

An administration official on Thursday told Fox News Kerry’s meetings are “shameful,” pointing out what Iranian-backed militias are doing to kill and injure people in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

Other Republicans suggested it may not even be legal.

“John Kerry is out giving advice to Iran about how to maneuver around what Donald Trump is doing, it’s insidious,” Ari Fleischer, the former White House press secretary for George W. Bush, said Wednesday on Fox News’s “Special Report.” “I don’t know if it’s legal or illegal, I don’t care about that side of it. It’s wrong.”…

Later Wednesday, during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino,” Kerry did not deny the suggestion he’s telling the Iranians to wait out Trump until there is a Democratic president again.

“I think everybody in the world is talking about waiting out President Trump,” said Kerry, who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2004 and who has not ruled out a 2020 bid.

As Ari Fleischer points out in the video below, Kerry had no business doing this:

Michael Rubin of the Washington Examiner says Kerry deserves jail for this:

John Kerry deserves jail for secret Iran diplomacy

In a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, former Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that he’s been working behind-the-scenes to salvage the Iran nuclear deal. “What I have done is tried to elicit from him what Iran might be willing to do in order to change the dynamic in the Middle East for the better,” he explained. Kerry’s backchannel with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif has not been a one-time deal. “I think I’ve seen him three or four times,” Kerry said, and acknowledged that his talks were occurring without the Trump administration’s approval.

Perhaps Kerry believes he is not violating the Logan Act of 1799 which states that: “Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”

What would have happened if someone from the Bush administration decided to go around Obama in this way while he was president?

Trump administration adopts new definition of anti-Semitism in schools

Trump administration adopts new definition of anti-Semitism in schools

President Trump is going to change the way the U.S education department investigates anti-Semitism, to include delegitimizing Israel or holding Israel to a double standard that would not be expected from any other democratic nation. This is fabulous news. Anti-Israel and pro-BDS activity is raging on campuses all over the United States. As a result, pro-Israel Jewish students are being terrorized on college campuses.

“Palestinian” and pro-BDS groups criticized the decision harshly, claiming that their free speech rights are being violated. They’re lying. It is the free speech rights of pro-Israel Jews (on college campuses) that have been violated by the supporters of the BDS movement and other radical left-wing groups.

Pro-“Palestinian” groups refuse to allow civilized debate on the Israel-“Palestinian” conflict, because they know they can’t win. Instead, they bully, marginalize, intimidate, humiliate, and assault pro-Israel Jewish students, making it next to impossible for pro-Israel Jews (and non-Jews) to exercise their freedom of speech rights. President Trump’s decision was not only a victory for pro-Israel Jewish students, but also for Americans who care about freedom of speech.

President Trump has quite simply been a godsend for Israel and the Jewish people. President Trump has done more for Israel in less than two years than AIPAC has done in 50. Significantly more. Sadly, President Trump can expect to receive only 25 percent of the Jewish vote in 2020, at best.

“Trump administration adopts new definition of anti-Semitism in schools,” by Michael Stratford, Politico, September 11, 2018:

The Trump administration is changing how the Education Department investigates allegations of discrimination against Jewish students, backing an approach that is favored by pro-Israel groups but that critics worry will stifle free speech and criticism of Israel on campus.

The policy change was outlined in a letter last month by Kenneth Marcus, who leads the department’s Office for Civil Rights, in which he re-opened a 2011 investigation into Rutgers University in connection with alleged discrimination against Jewish students. The letter was obtained by POLITICO.

Marcus wrote in the letter that the Education Department, in its investigations into discrimination, would use the “working definition” of anti-Semitism that is “widely used by governmental agencies” including the State Department.

That definition includes examples in which delegitimizing Israel, or holding it to a double standard not expected of other democratic nations, are deemed anti-Semitic.

That meant the Office for Civil Rights for the first time was using a definition of anti-Semitism that some Jewish activists have long sought as a tool to curb discrimination on campuses. But some civil liberties organizations and advocates for Palestinian rights believe that the definition is so broad that it would label criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic.

Education Department spokeswoman Liz Hill denied that the administration had made a change. “The Department has not adopted a definition of anti-Semitism,” Hill said in an email.

“Secretary DeVos has made clear that OCR will look at the specific facts of each case and make determinations accordingly,” she added. “The facts in the Rutgers case, many of which were disregarded by the previous administration, are troubling.”

First US F-35 planes deployed to Gulf & Red Sea. Marines drill unblocking Hormuz and Mandeb – DEBKAfile

US naval, air and Marine forces have launched a war game from Djibouti,  off the Horn of Africa coast opposite the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea – their first drill for a potential regional clash with Iran, whether full-scale or limited. They are focusing on the simulated Iranian blockage of the region’s two vital chokepoints, the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea’s Straits of Bab al-Mandeb, DEBKAfile’s military sources report.

Taking part are 4,500 US troops of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit carried on the decks of EssexAmphibious Ready Group vessels. This group consists of the Essex amphibious assault ship, the Anchorage amphibious transport dock and the Rushmore dock landing ship. They are practicing confrontations with Iranian naval and air forces in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, and testing their rapid response capabilities in an emergency, coastal landings by the Marines, fast rescues of US fighter pilots whose planes were shot down, as well as their ability to function in waters sown with sea mines.
Also taking part in the exercise are the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211, which is made up of F-35Bs, the seaplane version of the advanced stealth plane. It is capable of vertical takeoff from US aircraft carriers or from the big Marine landing craft.

It is the first time that the US has introduced the F-35 for combat duty in these regions. This US F-35 fleet, together with those flown by the Israeli Air Force, now cover a vast area – from the Strait of Hormuz, through the Gulf of Aden, the Bab al Mandeb Straits, the Red Sea and up to the Syria coast.

Senior minister threatens Iran with attack if it continues nuclear development

Israel Katz says Islamic Republic had better accede to Trump’s demands or face ‘direct threat from the US and its allies’

If Iran chooses to continue pursuing a nuclear program it will face a “military” response, Intelligence Minister Israel Katz warned Wednesday.

Katz was responding to the Iranian nuclear chief’s statement that the Islamic Republic’s program stands ready to build advanced centrifuges and further enrich uranium.

Ali Akbar Salehi told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Iran wouldn’t be deterred by US President Donald Trump’s sanctions and withdrawal from the global nuclear deal.

But Katz said that if Iran presses forward it will face a “direct threat from the United States and its allies.”

The US withdrawal from the deal in May has already badly shaken Iran’s economy, crashing its currency, the rial. Katz said Iran could either cave to Trump’s demands or watch its economy collapse.

Salehi had said he hoped the atomic deal would survive, but warned the program would be in a stronger position than ever if not.

In a veiled threat to Israel, Salehi said the consequences would be “harsh” if there were any new attacks targeting Iran’s nuclear scientists. A string of bombings, blamed on Israel, targeted a number of scientists beginning in 2010, at the height of Western concerns over Iran’s program.

Israel never claimed responsibility for the attacks on the scientists, though Israeli officials have boasted in the past about the reach of the country’s intelligence services. “I hope that they will not commit a similar mistake again because the consequences would be, I think, harsh,” Salehi warned.

Israel earlier this year removed tens of thousands of documents and other materials from Iran’s secret nuclear weapons program archive, stealing them from under the regime’s nose in a Mossad operation in Tehran. The material proved that Iran lied when claiming it was not seeking to build a nuclear weapons arsenal, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, and showed that it intends to resume its nuclear weapons program if it can.

Salehi also said that Trump’s decision to withdraw America from the 2015 accord “puts him on the loser’s side” of history. He added, “That deal could have paved the way for building the trust and the confidence that we had lost.”

The 2015 accord, struck under then-president Barack Obama’s administration, saw Iran agree to limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions.

Salehi also spoke about Iran’s efforts to build a new facility at Natanz’s uranium enrichment center that will produce more advanced centrifuges. Those devices enrich uranium by rapidly spinning uranium hexafluoride gas.

For now, the nuclear accord limits Iran to using a limited number of an older model, called IR-1s.

The new facility will allow Iran to build versions called the IR-2M, IR-4 and IR-6. The IR-2M and the IR-4 can enrich uranium five times faster than an IR-1, while the IR-6 can do it 10 times faster, Salehi said. Western experts have suggested these centrifuges produce three to five times more enriched uranium in a year than the IR-1s.

While building the facility doesn’t violate the nuclear deal, mass production of advanced centrifuges would. Salehi, however, said that wasn’t immediately a plan.

“This does not mean that we are going to produce these centrifuges now. This is just a preparation,” he said. “In case Iran decides to start producing in mass production such centrifuges, (we) would be ready for that.”

In this frame grab from Islamic Republic Iran Broadcasting, IRIB, state-run TV, three versions of domestically-built centrifuges are shown in a live TV program from Natanz, an Iranian uranium enrichment plant, in Iran, June 6, 2018. (IRIB via AP)

Salehi suggested that if the nuclear deal fell apart, Iran would react in stages. He suggested one step may be uranium enrichment going to “20 percent because this is our need.” He also suggested Iran could increase its stockpile of enriched uranium. Any withdrawal ultimately would be approved by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

While the UN repeatedly has verified Iran’s compliance with the deal, Trump campaigned on a promise to tear it up. In May, he withdrew the US in part because he said the deal wasn’t permanent and didn’t address Iran’s ballistic missile program and its influence across the wider Middle East. But Trump meanwhile has tweeted he’d accept talks without preconditions with Tehran.

Asked what he personally would tell Trump if he had the chance, Salehi chuckled and said: “I certainly would tell him he has made the wrong move on Iran.”

Report: Iran has 3,000-4,000 working centrifuges

September 12, 2018

Source: Report: Iran has 3,000-4,000 working centrifuges

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says number of active centrifuges Islamic Republic currently has at its disposal is still within limit allowed under its nuclear deal with world powers, which allows Iran to operate up to 5,060 first-generation centrifuges at its Natanz plant and 1,044 at its Fordow plant.
Iran has between 3,000 and 4,000 active centrifuges, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Wednesday, according to the Tasnim news agency—still within the limit allowed under its troubled nuclear deal with world powers. The rare announcement of specific data on the nuclear program came days after Iran’s nuclear chief said it had completed a facility to build advanced centrifuges—Tehran has said it will increase its capacity to enrich uranium if the nuclear pact collapses following Washington’s withdrawal in May.

Under the terms of the 2015 deal, Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

The deal allows the Islamic Republic to operate up to 5,060 first-generation centrifuges for 10 years at its Natanz plant and 1,044 first-generation centrifuges at its underground Fordow enrichment plant. Before the deal, Iran had 20,000 centrifuges installed at Natanz and Fordow, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The remaining signatories to the deal—Russia, China, Germany France and Britain—are trying to salvage the accord.

“America and Israel have a program against Iran and they scrapped a deal they requested,” Larijani said, according to Tasnim.

“After America withdrew, European leaders asked that Iran not give a quick reply to this action and they asked for time, which is passing now,” he added.

The remaining powers say the deal is the best hope of preventing Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. Iran says its atomic program is for electricity generation and other peaceful purposes.

Iran’s nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi told the Associated Press on Tuesday that he hopes the atomic deal between Tehran and world powers survives, but warns the program will be in a stronger position than ever if not.

Salehi also said that President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw America from the 2015 accord “puts him on the loser’s side” of history.

He added: “That deal could have paved the way for building the trust and the confidence that we had lost.”

Netanyahu: 17 years after 9/11 attacks, Europe appeasing Iranian terror

Netanyahu took European leaders to task for “appeasing Iran,” something he said “helps the unending attack on the values and security of free societies.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

As the world marks 17 years since the 9/11 attacks in the United States, the time has come for western governments to take part in “the strong and clear effort of the Trump administration against the terrorist regime in Tehran,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the the start of the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu took European leaders to task for “appeasing Iran,” something he said “helps the unending attack on the values and security of free societies.”

Netanyahu again noted the irony that on the same week in June that an Iranian terror cell tried to carry out an attack against an Iranian opposition group in Paris – an attack that Israeli intelligence helped to thwart – European leaders were trying to “appease” Iran and looking for ways to soften the fallout from the US withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal.

Al-Qaeda, the terrorist group that carried out the September 11, 2001 attacks, has “passed the torch” of extremist Sunni terrorism on to Islamic State, while the extremist Shia variety of terror is being led by Iran, the premier said.

“They both have the same goals: to destroy the free societies as we know them, to destroy Israel, and also to destroy the west and others. The time has come for the world to unite in a struggle against the terrorist organizations. It did so to a certain degree in the attack against Islamic State, but has not done it against Iran – the opposite is the case,” he said.

Netanyahu also used the start of the cabinet meeting to praise the Trump Administration for its decision on Monday to close the PLO offices in Washington.

Netanyahu called this the “right decision,” saying that at a time when the Palestinians refuse to negotiate with Israel and are attacking it in international fora,  the American decision makes clear to the Palestinians that their tactics not only fail to promote peace, “but are also certainly not good for the Palestinians.”
