Why Hillary Likely to Become Next US President No Matter What

At the current stage of the US presidential campaign a cautious prognosis could be made that Hillary Clinton would win the race. There are several reasons for such an assumption, including the dynasty tradition inherent in the US political system as well as the specifics of the American electoral process.

Here is a quick look on how political dynasties form in the US.

Like Father Like Son

American political dynasties emerged shortly after the United States appeared on the world political map.

John Adams Jr. served as US president in 1797-1801. His son John Quincy Adams served as the 6th President of the US in 1825-1829. Retired general William Harrison died a month after becoming president, on April 4, 1811. His grandson Benjamin Harrison became president in 1889.

Zachary Taylor who was elected president in 1849 was great nephew of James Madison, the 4th President of the US (1809-1817).  Franklin Roosevelt was distantly related to Theodore Roosevelt (president in 1901-1909).Barbara Pierce Bush, the wife of the 41st President of the US, George H.W. Bush, descended from the family of Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the US. She could have become the mother of two US presidents, but her younger son Jeb Bush withdrew from the ongoing presidential race.

Against the Will of Majority

One of the most distinctive features of the US political system is the fact that in the US a candidate can win the presidential election even if he gains fewer votes than his rival.

The most notable case of this occurring is when George W. Bush won the electoral college to be reelected as president in 2004, even though John Kerry won the popular vote. The issue is that citizens of the US do not directly elect the president. Instead, these voters directly elect designated mediators called “electoral voters.” The candidate who receives an absolute majority of electoral votes (currently 270) for the office of president is elected to office.

The Electoral College allows under-populated states to have an equal command with heavily populated states. For instance, Wyoming has a population of nearly 600,000, and three voters while Texas with a population of 27.5 million has only 38 voters.

Another problem is that except for Maine and Nebraska, electoral voters are distributed on a “winner take all” basis. That is, all electoral voters are pledged to the presidential candidate who wins the most votes in the state.

Maine and Nebraska delegate their electoral votes based on a “congressional district method,” selecting one electoral voter for each congressional district won by popular vote and selecting the remaining two electoral voters by a statewide popular vote.

Why Donald Trump Has Little Chance for Presidency

As a whole, the current electoral system is comfortable for the American political elite because it keeps undesirable candidates and politicians away from assuming power. Even if such a candidate runs from one of the leading parties (like flamboyant billionaire Donald Trump in the ongoing race) the system still cannot guarantee success for them.

According to a survey commissioned by the Gallup Institute, 59-62 percent of US citizens would prefer to elect the president directly. However, this initiative was blocked by Senate back in 1970.

Nevertheless, the struggle goes on. Ten years ago, several US states debated the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an agreement designed to ensure that the candidate who wins the most popular votes nationwide is elected president. It has not yet come into effect.

As of 2016, it has been joined by 10 states and the District of Columbia, with their 165 combined electoral votes while 270 votes are needed for the compact to have legal force. However, chances are slim for the agreement to come into force.

Members of the Bush and Clinton families have been president of the United States for a total of 20 years, from 1989 to 2009. Then, ex-first lady Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State during Barack Obama’s term. History of the US political process hint that Hillary Clinton has strong chances to become the 45th President of the United States.

Illegal Immigration up 131% in 2016

And why shouldn’t it be? Obama opened the door with exactly this intention. Enforcement has dropped sharply. The border patrol has been turned into coyotes smuggling in illegals. And here we are.

Through the first six months of fiscal 2016, which ended on March 31, border officials apprehended 27,754 unaccompanied children, the CBP reported — a 78 percent jump from the 15,616 apprehended in 2015, and just shy of the 28,579 apprehended in 2014.

For family units, which consist of at least one child traveling with at least one adult, the increase was even more dramatic. In the first six months of 2016, 32,117 families were apprehended, the CBP reported — an increase of 131 percent from the 2015 figure (13,913) and 62 percent from the 2014 figure (19,830).

Of course this easily backfires into a contribution to the Trump campaign. But the Democrats are counting on transforming illegal migration into a civil rights issue. Quickly followed by legalization and demographic transformation. But a growing sense of crisis at the border could easily turn things around very sharply.

10 Mortar Attacks in Two Days by Gaza Terrorists Betray Hamas Fears of Tunnel Discoveries [video]

The Hamas military website ‘Al Qassam’ claims this tank is firing shells at Gaza. But the colors on the tank resemble those of the flag of the Palestinian Authority, so the claim is questionable at best. Perhaps these fighters were part of the group aiming the shells at southern Israel instead…

For the third day in a row, Gaza terrorists continued to shell southern Israel on Thursday afternoon.

The tenth mortar attack in two days was fired at southern Israel at about 4:45 pm, again targeting the IDF soldiers as they operating along the security fence in southern Gaza.

No injuries were reported, and an IDF tank fired back in the direction of the mortar fire.

The ninth and tenth attacks came after the IDF announced the discovery of a second cross-border attack tunnel penetrating into Israel territory from Gaza.

Moments ago mortar rounds were fired at forces during operational activity adjacent to the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip,” said the IDF Spokesperson in a statement.

“No injuries have been reported. An IDF tank responded and fired towards the threat.”

A Hamas terrorist involved in the terror organization’s tunnel network was also arrested in a combined IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) operation, according to a brief statement late Thursday afternoon by the intelligence agency.

Trump’s Secret Weapon: Ivanka

Trump’s Secret Weapon: Ivanka, BreitbartMeg Meeker, May 5, 2016

Call him unpredictable, a brilliant businessman, rude, refreshingly bold, or egregious, but there is one thing we should call Donald Trump: a good father. And this counts for a lot.

After hearing Ivanka talk about her father in multiple interviews, there is no question that this young woman respects and feels very close to her father.

She credits him with much of her professional success, which is quite impressive. During an interview at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference, Ivanka praised her father for being a good listener and leader. She said that she is the highest female executive at his business and that her professional success proves that her dad champions women.

She has a point. As a pediatrician of thirty years, I’ve studied fathers and their relationships with their children—especially their daughters. And from what Ivanka displays, it appears her father did a lot of things right.

Here’s what we know about fathers. Toddlers who have engaged fathers are better at solving puzzles. Children with fathers at home are more likely to succeed in school, are less likely to get into trouble, and endure depression or anxiety, and are more likely to have higher self-esteem. And that’s just the beginning.

Much of a girl’s sense of value comes from her father, and we know that the best way to elevate a girl’s self-esteem is to have her father show her more affection. Forget piano lessons, an ice-hockey trainer or personal soccer coach. These make her feel that she can perform well, but they don’t insure that her self-esteem will go up. Affection from her father does.

The hallmarks of good fathers are warmth, availability, concern with a child’s character, patience, and commitment to their children. In an interview with Daily Mail, Ivanka stated that her father was always available to her and described him as warm.

She remembers feeling that she and her siblings were the most important things in her father’s life. She played in conference rooms while he held meetings and sometimes interrupted them to attend to his children. When she was six years old, he told her about a real-estate transaction he was finishing and that he couldn’t wait until she grew up and joined him in his work.

This is important because it shows us something about Trump’s character. Raising a strong daughter requires deep character in a father. He taught Ivanka to work hard, and he believed in her ability to excel in the professional world. Any daughter will tell you that when her dad says she is capable, then she is. Gospel truth.

She believes that she is smart and can accomplish anything that she sets her mind to do. Mothers tell us we’re strong, smart, and capable and we believe them. But—we feel that our mothers have to say these things. When our fathers express belief in us, it sinks deeper.

One might conclude that Donald had to encourage Ivanka to rise to the upper echelon of business because she was his daughter. Not so. Many fathers with bright daughters don’t do this. They focus more on the success of their sons or themselves. Fathers who push daughters to succeed do so because down deep, they champion women the same way they champion men. That’s why it’s hard to see Trump as chauvinistic.

Ivanka also describes her father’s relationships with his ex-wives as amiable. She says that all of her step-siblings get along well and that Trump fostered this by maintaining good relationships with his ex-wives.

While none of us knows what kind of husband he was, the fact that the exes and siblings get along is remarkable. Many fathers forget that daughters and sons need healthy relationships with their mothers. When a divorce occurs, fathers often get caught up in hurt and anger with their ex-wives, and this causes terrible suffering to the children.

Many in America claim that our children are in dire straits because our schools are poor. The answer: hire better teachers. Build better buildings and offer more services to the kids.

Others claim that the bigger problems children face are related to drugs and gang violence. The answer? Send more police to inner cities to stop it. Clamp down on drug dealers. Many mothers in the African American communities are overwrought. They work multiple jobs to care for their children, and still many find their sons lured into brotherhood by gangs. Of course, other ethnic groups similarly struggle, but the truth is a sobering 70 percent of African American children grow up without a father in the home.

We can create programs, change school systems, and find more money to help those in need, but if we stick to these changes alone, we miss the bigger picture. The answer to many of our children’s problems is men.

Good fathers who care for their children. If every father were encouraged to engage his children and stay committed to them, we would live in an entirely different country. Our schools would be safer. Gangs would disintegrate because the older men in the communities would stand up to them. Our neighborhoods would be less violent, and children could actually pay attention in school because they wouldn’t be worried about home. Our jails would empty, and far fewer kids would turn to drugs or gangs to have their needs met.

Why is it that in a country educating the brightest men and women on earth, we completely overlook our most valuable assets—fathers? Call him what you will, but as far as I see it, Donald Trump may well lead the way in this regard.

I don’t know if Donald Trump is the right man for president, but if I were in charge of his campaign I would get Ivanka on the stage as frequently as possible. Because when she opens her mouth to speak, no one can claim that her father missed the boat regarding his most important job: being her dad.

Limbaugh: Trump Beats Hillary in Landslide

Limbaugh: Trump Beats Hillary in Landslide

Wednesday on his radio show, on the heel of Donald Trump’s victory in the Indiana Republican presidential primary and his opponent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) suspending his campaign, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh said he anticipated Trump to beat his next likely Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by a “landslide.”

Partial transcript as follows:

My instinctive feeling right now is that Trump is gonna win, beat Hillary badly, that it could be landslide proportions.

I still don’t think people understand why Trump won this.  I don’t think they understand at all the reason people support Trump.  And the deeper people are entrenched in politics, and the more they are accustomed to the templates and the handbooks and the theories and the playbooks, the less they’re gonna understand it.  The more they try to plug Donald Trump and his campaign and his personality into the professional politician candidate playbook that they use, the farther and farther from the truth they are going to get.

I’ve tried to help. During the course of this entire campaign, I’ve gone to great lengths to try to explain to people what it is about Trump, why he has his supporters, why they support him, and what you have to do to separate them from Trump.  Basically, you can’t.  That’s the bottom line.  There’s nothing any professional politician can do.  They’ve done everything that they knew how to beat a candidate. They threw everything they had at Trump.  I mean, the negative ads that they ran against him, these #NeverTrump guys and their PACs in all these states?

In indiana alone the amount of money spent on negative ads against Trump? And it didn’t work.  And in their world, negative ads always work.  So they’re out there scratching their heads today.  You’ve got #NeverTrump people saying, “I said I was never gonna vote for Trump, and I’m never gonna vote for Trump — and I mean it.”  You’ve got some people thinking about looking for third-party candidate.  Others, it’s a matter of honor, a matter of principle, to never vote for Trump.  But they’re caught between that and Hillary Clinton becoming president.

We’re back to, “Well, let’s just let Hillary win so people will find out how bad it is.”  I’m tired of that.  We already know how bad it is. We know how bad it is with Hillary. We know how bad it is with Bill Clinton. We know how bad it is with Barack Hussein O. We know how bad it is with the American left.  We don’t need any more destruction. We don’t need anymore lessons. And, by the way, leaving it to the American people to figure out hasn’t worked out well, either, has it?

Somebody’s gonna have to tell ’em how bad it is.  I mean, they instinctively know things are not great. But look at the Millennials.  My point is, the millennials think the country’s seen its best days.  They don’t blame the Democrats for it ’cause nobody tells them. Nobody explains to them that the reason they are in great suffering and have (in their own minds) no future is because of Democrat Party left-wing policies. But nobody tells ’em that.  So they are left to assume that America is flawed.

“America was flawed from its founding, and all these flaws — and all this racism, bigotry, self-hatred, all that — is coming to the fore now, and America has caught up with itself.” This is, sadly, what some of these people think.  So a guy comes along and tells ’em he’ll make America great, identifies problems, and then proposes solutions; doesn’t hold back. It’s not hard to figure any of this out.  Against a message like Trump’s, if your counter message is, “I’m the most conservative guy running,” that’s not going to work.

Even if you are, and even if you’re good at it, it’s not gonna make a dent.  Because none of this is about ideology right now.  That’s why everybody’s talking about populism having over taken conservatism.  That hasn’t happened, but at this moment of time it looks like it. In this particular set of circumstances it looks like it.  Any number of things that 17 people tried — and Hillary Clinton is next up, and we shall see.

Migrant Rape Epidemic Reaches Austria

May 5, 2016

Migrant Rape Epidemic Reaches Austria, Gatestone InstituteSoeren Kern, May 5, 2016

♦ A 20-year-old asylum seeker from Iraq confessed to raping a 10-year-old boy at a public swimming pool in Vienna. The Iraqi said the rape was a “sexual emergency” resulting from “excess sexual energy.”

♦ Those who dare to link spiraling crime to Muslim mass migration are being silenced by the guardians of Austrian multiculturalism.

♦ According to data compiled by the Austrian Interior Ministry, nearly one out of three asylum seekers in Vienna was accused of committing crimes in 2015. North African gangs fighting for control over drug trafficking were responsible for roughly half of the 15,828 violent crimes — rapes, robberies, stabbings and assaults — reported in the city during 2015.

♦Austria received 90,000 asylum requests in 2015, the second-highest number in the EU on a per capita basis, but this pales in comparison to what may lie ahead. Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka warned last month that up to one million migrants are poised to cross the Mediterranean from Libya to Europe.

The brutal gang rape of a woman by three Afghan asylum seekers in central Vienna on April 22 has shocked the Austrian public and drawn attention to a spike in migrant-related rapes, sexual assaults and other crimes across the country.

The migrant crime wave comes as the anti-immigrant Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) has surged in opinion polls. The party’s candidate, Norbert Hofer, won the first round of Austria’s presidential elections on April 24, and is on track to win the presidency in the second round, run-off election scheduled for May 22.

The three Afghans — two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old — followed the woman, a 21-year-old exchange student, into a public restroom at the Praterstern train station, one of the main transportation hubs in Vienna. One of the migrants held the woman down while the other two took turns raping her.

A passerby called the police after she heard the woman screaming. By the time police arrived, the men had gone. The suspects, who were arrested as they were attempting to flee the station, do not speak German. Through an interpreter, the migrants told police they were drunk and do not remember carrying out the crime.

If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of seven-and-a-half years in prison. Due to the lenient nature of the Austrian judicial system, however, they may end up spending only two years behind bars, according to local observers.

It is also unlikely that the migrants will be deported: according to European law, sending them back to Afghanistan would be a violation of their human rights. Instead, observers say, the Afghans will qualify for Austrian social welfare benefits — €830 ($950) per month plus free healthcare — and probably for the rest of their lives become wards of Austrian state.

The assault in Praterstern is one of a growing number of migrant sex crimes in Austria (other migrant rapes and sexual assaults are included in the appendix below):

  • A 20-year-old asylum seeker from Iraq confessed to raping a 10-year-old boy at a public swimming pool in Vienna. The Iraqi said the rape was a “sexual emergency” resulting from “excess sexual energy.” The man, who left his wife and child behind in Iraq, said he had been unable to control his libido because he had not had sexual relations since arriving in Austria in September.
  • An 18-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan was sentenced to 20 months in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman in Traiskirchen. “First he beat the woman black and blue, then he raped her, and then he took her underwear as a trophy,” local police said. In addition to a lenient sentence, the man will be allowed to remain in Austria and, after he leaves prison, collect social welfare benefits.
  • A 20-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan was arrested after he coerced 13-year-old girl from the town of Korneuburg repeatedly to have sex with him. The man, who was living in an asylum shelter in Hollabrunn, first established contact with the girl over the Internet. Each time they met in person, he verbally threatened her until she agreed to have sex. The man was arrested after the girl told her parents about the relationship, which had been going on for more than three months.
  • Mobs of Arab migrants sexually assaulted dozens of women in Vienna, Salzburg andInnsbruck on New Year’s Eve. The sex attacks, known in Arabic as taharrush (“harassment”), were similar to those carried out that day by North African migrants in Cologne, Germany and other cities. Police initially denied that the attacks had taken place, but later admitted to lying, purportedly to protect the privacy of the victims.

Those who dare to link spiraling crime to Muslim mass migration are being silenced by the guardians of Austrian multiculturalism.

In April, for example, the Austrian Press Council (Presserat) — a group that enforces a politically correct “code of ethics” to ensure that Austrian media outlets toe the line of state-sanctioned multiculturalism — censured the left-leaning magazine, Falter, for “blanket discrimination” against Muslims.

The magazine’s editors — otherwise faithful proponents of European multiculturalism — appear to have had enough of migrants raping their way through Europe with virtual impunity. For the January-February 2016 edition, Falter’s cover featured a black and white drawing of five “light skinned” European women surrounded by large numbers of “dark skinned” Arab males. The image evoked images of the taharrush assaults in Cologne.

In a three-page “decision,” the Presserat ruled that the image violates the “code of ethics” because it amounts to “blanket slander and discrimination” against Arab men:

“The men are all portrayed with the same fierce-looking facial expression, dark hair and noticeably dark eyebrows. In this way — in the context of the attacks in Cologne — the artist is constructing a prototype of men from North Africa, i.e., the Arab world. The uniformity of the image suggests that, rather than portraying individuals, it depicts a homogenous group whose members all behave in the same way.

“Therefore, readers could be left with the impression that the sexual assaults in Cologne were not the acts of individual persons or person groups, but that such conduct is typical for men from North Africa, i.e., the Arab world. The image could leave the impression that all North Africa men who are here in Europe fail to conduct themselves correctly vis-à-vis women.”

The editors of Falter defended themselves against accusations of racism:

“The fact is that North Africans were overwhelmingly responsible for the assaults in Cologne. This is what took place and we should be allowed to represent it as such.”

Vienna is the epicenter of migrant crime in Austria. According to data compiled by the Austrian Interior Ministry, nearly one out of three asylum seekers in Vienna was accused of crimes in 2015. Of the nearly 21,000 officially approved asylum seekers in the capital, 6,503 were known to have committed crimes in 2015, a jump of nearly 50% over 2014. The data shows that 2,270 of the criminals were under the age of 20, a 72% jump over 2014. Seven were under age nine, while 31 were under age 13.

According to Vienna Police Chief Gerhard Pürstl, North African gangs fighting for control over drug trafficking were responsible for roughly half of the 15,828 violent crimes — rapes, robberies, stabbings and assaults — reported in the city during 2015.

The area around the Praterstern station, where the exchange student was raped, has become overrun by shiftless migrants from Afghanistan and North Africa who are selling drugs, fighting turf battles and assaulting female passersby. Police were dispatched to the area a total of 6,265 times in 2015, or an average of 17 times a day, according to local media. But local authorities appear unable or unwilling to restore order to the area.

1585 (1)The area around Praterstern train station in Vienna is overrun by shiftless migrants from Afghanistan and North Africa who are selling drugs, fighting turf battles and assaulting female passersby. Police were dispatched to the area 6,265 times in 2015, or an average of 17 times a day.

The head of the Austrian Police Union, Hermann Greylinger, estimates that Vienna needs around 1,200 more police officers in order to establish order in the capital:

“If we are allowing in our country 111,000 migrants, few of whom have had background checks, then clearly the police must be massively increased. Almost all asylum claimants are moving to Vienna. We now have more migrants than the population of the city of Salzburg, the fourth-largest city in Austria.”

Austria’s migrant crime problem is being exacerbated by an extremely lenient criminal justice system. On May 4, for example, a 21-year-old migrant from Kenya randomly killed a 54-year-old woman on a busy street in Vienna by hitting her over the head with an iron bar. It soon emerged that the Kenyan was well known to city police: since arriving in Austria in 2008, he had committed at least 18 previous crimes — including dealing drugs, attacking police officers and hitting someone over the head with an iron bar — but he has repeatedly been set free.

Given the growing insecurity, it comes as no surprise that Austrian voters are looking for a change in political direction.

In what amounts to a political earthquake, Freedom Party (FPÖ) candidate Norbert Hofer won 36% of the vote in the first round of Austria’s presidential election on April 24. Hofer — who has campaigned on a platform calling for strict limits on immigration and tough rules for asylum seekers — defeated all of the other candidates, including those from the two governing parties, the Social Democrats and the Austrian People’s Party, which have dominated Austrian politics since the end of World War II.

Hofer, who says that as president he will be the “protector of Austria,” is now on track to defeat the Green Party’s Alexander Van der Bellen, a 72-year-old economist who is opposed to limits on immigration, in a run-off ballot to be held on May 22.

Hofer’s meteoric rise is focusing the minds of the establishment parties. On April 27, just three days after Hofer’s electoral victory, the Austrian Parliament adopted what may be one of the toughest asylum laws in Europe.

Under the new law, Austria will declare a “state of emergency” on the migration crisis. This will allow Austrian authorities to assess asylum claims directly at the border. Only asylum seekers with immediate family members already in Austria, or those who can prove they are in danger in neighboring transit countries, will be allowed to enter the country. Other migrants will be turned away. The new law also limits any successful asylum claim to three years.

Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka said the new law is needed to stem the flow of migrants and refugees: “We cannot shoulder the whole world’s burden.”

Austria received 90,000 asylum requests in 2015, the second-highest number in the European Union on a per capita basis, but this pales in comparison to what may lie ahead. In a radio interview on April 28, Sobotka warned that up to one million migrants are poised to cross the Mediterranean Sea from Libya to Europe.

Appendix

Sexual Assaults and Rapes by Migrants in Austria, January-April 2016.

Gatestone Institute has reported about the migrant rape epidemic in Germany and Sweden. The problem has now spread to Austria. Following are a few cases from the first four months of 2016:

April 29. A 35-year-old migrant from Algeria attempted to rape a woman at a bus stop in Linz. The man beat the woman unconscious, but not before she broke his nose. He was arrested after he went to a local hospital seeking medical attention. It later emerged that the Algerian has a long criminal record, including other attempted rapes, but cannot be deported because Algeria will not take him back.

On April 25, Kronen Zeitung, the largest newspaper in Austria, reported that an “Arabic-looking man” attempted to rape a 27-year-old woman at a bus stop in Vienna. “All he could say was sex, sex, sex,” the woman said. The man pulled a condom out of his pants pocket and then dropped his trousers. “I screamed as loud as I could,” the woman said, “until the man ran away.” She said that city police have been wholly uninterested in her case: “They have not even asked me for my name.” After local media reported on her case, police issued an apology and blamed their failure to take her seriously on a “regrettable misunderstanding.”

April 24. An unidentified migrant raped a 19-year-old woman in Eisenstadt.

April 22. Three asylum seekers from Afghanistan gang-raped a 21-year-old woman at a train station in Vienna.

April 22. A 17-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan attempted to rape a 20-year-old woman in Graz.

April 21. A 17-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman on a train in Grieskirchen. The train’s conductor intervened after he heard the woman scream. The Afghan told police that the woman was lying and demanded an apology.

April 20. Two North African migrants sexually assaulted a woman in front of the main train station in Salzburg. When a 26-year-old passerby attempted to intervene, the migrants punched and kicked him so hard that he was rushed to a nearby hospital. One of the attackers is a 31-year-old asylum seeker from Morocco. The other suspect remains at large.

April 15. A 42-year-old migrant from Slovenia was arrested for attempting to sexually assault two 18-year-old women in Leibnitz.

April 13. An “Arab looking” man sexually assaulted three women at a bus stop in Vienna.

March 24. Two Afghan migrants were arrested for raping a 20-year-old woman in Wels.

March 21. A migrant from North Africa assaulted a 27-year-old woman on a packed subway train in Vienna. The man began touching the woman on her hands. When she got up to find another seat, the man grabbed her and began kissing her on the mouth. Police told the woman there was nothing they could do because kissing does not qualify as sexual assault.

March 12. A 16-year-old asylum seeker from Libya attempted to kidnap and rape two women inVienna. After the three met on a subway train, the Libyan promised to take the women to a nightclub. He took them instead to an apartment where he attempted to lock the women in the basement and rape them. One of the women escaped and called the police.

March 8. A 20-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan was observed pointing to his genitals in front of a seven-year-old girl at a public swimming pool in Vienna. The pool director and a swimming instructor held the man until police arrived. The police let him go.

March 6. A “foreign looking” man sexually assaulted a 37-year-old woman at a public swimming pool in Klagenfurt after she intervened to prevent him from molesting her four-year-old boy.

February 25. A “southerner” sexually assaulted two teenage girls at a shopping mall inInnsbruck.

February 22. An 18-year-old migrant from Afghanistan was arrested for raping a 52-year-old woman in Innsbruck.

February 14. Six migrants sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman on a subway in Vienna. Two of the men, an 18-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan and a 23-year-old asylum seeker from Iraq, were arrested as they tried to exit the station. The other four remain at large.

February 11. A 33-year-old migrant from Iran masturbated in front of female patrons at a public swimming pool in Linz.

February 8. A 22-year-old migrant from Macedonia identified only as Ibrahim J. was arrested inVienna for sexually assaulting more than 20 women in Vienna and other parts of Austria. Among other crimes, the man is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl.

February 6. A group of 28 male asylum seekers sexually harassed female patrons at an outdoor ice skating rink in Stockerau. The migrants then attacked security guards who tried to intervene. Police were needed to restore order.

February 4. Six “southerners” assaulted a 53-year-old woman in front of a grocery store in Spittalafter she refused to give them money.

February 3. Three migrants sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl at a streetcar stop in Leonding. One of the men held the girl down while the other two took turns assaulting her.

January 26. A 24-year-old asylum seeker from Gambia raped and murdered a 25-year-old American woman in Vienna. The woman from Colorado, who was working as an au pair (nanny), had given the man, Abdou I., shelter in her apartment. He had fled his asylum shelter because his asylum request was denied and he feared being deported. After the murder, the man fled to Switzerland, where he was arrested after police traced his cellphone. It later emerged that he was wanted in Germany for sexually assaulting an underage girl.

January 23. A migrant from Macedonia attempted to rape a 21-year-old woman in Vienna. The man made eye contact with the woman on a subway and followed her after she got off the train.

January 16. A 21-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan raped an 18-year-old woman at the Prater, a large public park in Vienna.

January 10. A 29-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan tried to molest a six-year-old boy at a public swimming pool in Linz. The mother of the child said: “I noticed six migrants enter the building. Two of them sat down at the edge of the pool for children. One of them began stimulating his genitals while flirting with my youngest child.”

January 1. Mobs of Arab men sexually assaulted at least 24 women in Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck.

Shin Bet gleans vast tunnel data from Hamas member

The Shin Bet Intelligence agency announced on Thursday that it had obtained a treasure trove of information after capturing a Hamas member who snuck into Israel with the intention of killing Israelis in April.

Mahmoud Atauna, 29, of Jabaliya in Gaza, was arrested on April 16 after infiltrating Israel. He was in possession of two knives, and during subsequent questioning, “it emerged that he intended to murder soldiers or civilians that he happened to encounter in Israeli territory,” said the Shin Bet.

The investigation also resulted in much information being gleaned about Hamas’s tunnel activities, the agency added. Atauna was involved in the military wing’s activities, including planting bombs against IDF forces, and mostly, in tunnel activities during recent years.

“Atauna told his interrogators much about the physical features of tunnels in northern Gaza, about techniques used by Hamas in digging them, and the use of private homes and institutions by Hamas, from which it digs the tunnels. He also provided information on the means and materials Hamas uses,” the Shin Bet said.

“During questioning, Atauna pointed to many digging centers, and to tunnel shafts that are supposed to serve the Nuhba (Hamas’s elite unit) operatives for attacks during fighting with Israel,” it stated.

“Atauna said Hamas set up a network of tunnels branching out in Gaza for the passage of fighters and weapons. The tunnel network includes waiting rooms and has showers and dining tables, to improve the living conditions of Hamas fighters,” according to the Shin Bet.

The Izzadin Al-Kassam member provided the names of “many operatives who worked with him in the eastern battalion of Hamas’s northern brigade, and received information on the use of hospitals and civilians for the storage of weapons.” The investigation also revealed that Atauna’s home was a storage center for many weapons, including bombs, assault rifles, and suicide bomb vests, which he was supposed to distribute before a conflict broke out.

“Atauna is one of a series of military Hamas members who are under Shin Bet investigation at this time, and these investigations have revealed a lot of internal information on Hamas’s activities in tunnels,” the Shin Bet said.

Southern District prosecutors have charged the suspect at the Beersheva District Court.

Should the U.S. Build an “ISIS Wall”?

May 5, 2016

Should the U.S. Build an “ISIS Wall”? Gatestone InstituteRaymond Ibrahim, May 5, 2016

♦ “If you really want to protect Americans from ISIS, you secure the southern border. It’s that simple.” — Rep. Duncan Hunter.

♦ The Department of Homeland Security denied Hunter’s claims, called them “categorically false” and added that “no credible intelligence to suggest terrorist organizations are actively plotting to cross the southwest border.” Days later, however, it was confirmed that “4 ISIS Terrorists” were arrested crossing the border into Texas.

♦ Under Obama’s presidency alone, 2.5 million illegals have crossed the border. And those are just the ones we know about. How many of these are ISIS operatives, sympathizers or facilitators?

♦ Securing the U.S.-Mexico border — with an electronic fence, which has worked so effectively in Israel — is more urgent than we think.

Of all the reasons a majority of Americans support the plan of businessman and U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump to “build a wall” along the U.S.-Mexico border, perhaps the most critical is to avoid letting terrorists into the country. Drugs enter, the victims of traffickers enter, but the most imminent danger comes from operatives of the Islamic State (ISIS) and like-minded groups that are trying to use this porous border as a way to smuggle weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) into the United States and launch terror attacks that could make 9/11 seem like a morning in May.

Just last week, “One of the American men accused in Minnesota of trying to join the Islamic State group wanted to open up routes from Syria to the U.S. through Mexico… Guled Ali Omar told the ISIS members about the route so that it could be used to send members to America to carry out terrorist attacks, prosecutors alleged in a document.”

ISIS, however, did not need to be “told” by Ali “about the route.” Nearly a year earlier, ISIS explored options on how it could smuggle a WMD “into the U.S. through Mexico by using existing trafficking networks in Latin America.”

The Islamic State’s magazine Dabiq last May (issue #9) published the following scenario:

Let me throw a hypothetical operation onto the table. The Islamic State has billions of dollars in the bank, so they call on their wilāyah [province] in Pakistan to purchase a nuclear device through weapons dealers with links to corrupt officials in the region. … The weapon is then transported over land until it makes it to Libya, where the mujāhidīn [jihadis] move it south to Nigeria. Drug shipments from Columbia bound for Europe pass through West Africa, so moving other types of contraband from East to West is just as possible. The nuke and accompanying mujāhidīn arrive on the shorelines of South America and are transported through the porous borders of Central America before arriving in Mexico and up to the border with the United States. From there it’s just a quick hop through a smuggling tunnel and hey presto, they’re mingling with another 12 million ‘illegal’ aliens in America with a nuclear bomb in the trunk of their car.

The ISIS publication added that if not a nuke, “a few thousand tons of ammonium nitrate explosive,” which is easily manufactured, could be smuggled.

Such thinking is hardly new. Back in 2009, a Kuwaiti cleric explained how easy it would be to murder countless Americans by crossing through the Mexican border:

Four pounds of anthrax — in a suitcase this big — carried by a fighter through tunnels from Mexico into the U.S. are guaranteed to kill 330,000 Americans within a single hour if it is properly spread in population centers there. What a horrifying idea; 9/11 will be small change in comparison. Am I right? There is no need for airplanes, conspiracies, timings and so on. One person, with the courage to carry 4 pounds of anthrax, will go to the White House lawn, and will spread this ‘confetti’ all over them, and then we’ll do these cries of joy. It will turn into a real celebration.

Plans aside, ISIS and other Islamic terrorists are based in and coming from Mexico. The evidence is piling up. In August 2014, Judicial Watch reported that ISIS was “operating in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez and planning to attack the United States with car bombs or other vehicle borne improvised explosive devices.” Months later in April 2015, ISIS was exposed operating in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua — eight miles from the U.S.

In October 2014, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif) said, “I know that at least 10 ISIS fighters have been caught coming across the Mexican border in Texas.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) emphatically denied Hunter’s claims, called them “categorically false” and added that “no credible intelligence to suggest terrorist organizations are actively plotting to cross the southwest border.” Days later, however, it was confirmed that “4 ISIS Terrorists” were arrested crossing the border into Texas.

On September 20, 2015, “U.S. Border Patrol nabbed two Pakistani men with ties to terrorism at the U.S.-Mexico border. … Both men … took advantage of smuggling networks or other routes increasingly used by Central American illegal immigrants to sneak into the U.S.”

This is uncomfortably reminiscent of the scenario outlined in the ISIS magazine: after naming Pakistan as the nation from which to acquire nukes — the two men arrested for “ties to terrorism” were from Pakistan — the Dabiq excerpt explained: “The nuke and accompanying mujāhidīn… are transported through the porous borders of Central America before arriving in Mexico and up to the border with the United States. From there it’s just a quick hop through a smuggling tunnel.”

On December 2, 2015, “A Middle Eastern woman was caught surveilling a U.S. port of entry on the Mexican border holding a sketchbook with Arabic writing and drawings of the facility and its security system.” Around the same time, “five young Middle Eastern men were apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol in Amado, an Arizona town situated about 30 miles from the Mexican border. Two of the men were carrying stainless steel cylinders in backpacks…”

These arrests clearly indicate that Islamic terrorists are crossing the border into the U.S. For every illegal person caught, how many are not? One estimate says that at best only half of those illegally crossing the border are ever apprehended. Under Obama’s presidency alone, 2.5 million illegals have crossed the border. And those are just the ones we know about. How many of these are ISIS operatives, sympathizers or facilitators? Border guards cannot even be “especially alert” for terrorists: many easily blend in with native Mexicans.

Three facts are undisputed: 1) ISIS and other terrorist groups see Mexico as a launching pad for terrorist acts in the U.S.; 2) ISIS and other terrorist groups have bases of operations in Mexico; 3) Members of ISIS and other terrorist groups have been caught trying to enter through the border.

In other words, it is just a matter of time. As Rep. Duncan Hunter once put it:

If you really want to protect Americans from ISIS, you secure the southern border. It’s that simple. ISIS doesn’t have a navy, they don’t have an air force, they don’t have nuclear weapons. The only way that ISIS is going to harm Americans is by coming in through the southern border — which they already have.

Just as before 9/11 — when U.S. leadership had received ample warnings of a spectacular terrorist attack targeting the U.S. — this problem may well be ignored until a spectacular attack occurs: San Bernardino was apparently too small, it did not count. Then, it will be more of the usual from the comatose media and many politicians: “shock,” handwringing, and appeals against “Islamophobia.”

Securing the U.S.-Mexico border — with an electronic fence, which has worked so effectively in Israel — is more urgent than we think.

1581The Israeli-built border fence between Israel and Egypt, completed in December 2013, put a complete stop to illegal infiltration from Egypt into Israel. Before the fence was built, many terrorists, traffickers, and drug smugglers crossed the border each year. (Image source: Idobi/Wikimedia Commons)

The UN World Humanitarian Summit Money Pit

May 5, 2016

The UN World Humanitarian Summit Money Pit, Front Page MagazineJoseph Klein, May 5, 2016

UCHA

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is organizing what is being billed as the first ever World Humanitarian Summit, which will take place in Istanbul Turkey on May 23-24 2016. Representatives from UN member states (including a number of heads of state and government), civil society, the private sector, crisis-affected communities and multilateral organizations are expected to attend the summit.

The summit’s purpose is said to be no less than to provide governments, the private sector, non-governmental organizations and community leaders a global platform to “announce major commitments to action, launch new partnerships aimed at saving lives, and highlight innovations which help reduce suffering and uphold humanity in times of crisis.” One of the most important goals is to inspire the creation of mechanisms for more reliable, multi-year financing for humanitarian and development programs combined. It sounds like OCHA is planning to dig an even deeper money pit for donors at the summit.

UN leaders have talked about a “grand bargain” in which UN organizations across the entire UN system would pledge to work together more cooperatively and to be more transparent in how they spend donated funds in return for enhanced, more predictable funding. “The donor base must clearly expand,” said OCHA’s Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Stephen O’Brien, at a UN event on humanitarian financing last year.

However, when Mr. O’Brien spoke to reporters on May 2nd to highlight the importance of the upcoming summit’s agenda and the so-called “Grand Bargain” it is intended to promote, he inexplicably declined to answer some key questions. This is especially concerning, since Mr. O’Brien had already called into question his commitment to genuine UN reform and transparency. He declared in an interview with IRIN last October, for example, that “the UN doesn’t have to change.”

When asked at his May 2nd press conference how much the two day World Humanitarian Summit and preparations leading up to it are expected to cost, and where the money was coming from, Mr. O’Brien provided no numbers. He praised the host country Turkey for its generous contributions in helping to defray the full cost, without acknowledging Turkey’s self-interest in whitewashing its own abysmal record on two of the issues the summit is supposed to address – forced displacement and gender inequality.

According to OCHA’s 2016 budget plan, OCHA itself will be paying $700,748 towards the summit cost. In light of the recent scandal involving alleged payments by groups affiliated with an indicted businessman to buy influence at the United Nations, the identities and profiles of all donors of monies to defray the cost of the World Humanitarian Summit should be made public. At this point, Mr. O’Brien would not even agree to publicly disclose the heads of state and government whom have accepted invitations to attend the summit.

When asked to provide figures on the proportion of contributions to UN humanitarian programs that actually reach those in need, Mr. O’Brien also declined. There is reason to be concerned with Mr. O’Brien’s lack of transparency here as well. The UN’s Office of Internal Oversight had concluded in its 2012 audit of OCHA’s management of the Haiti Emergency Relief and Response Fund (ERRF) that “OCHA Haiti’s governance, risk management and control processes examined were assessed as unsatisfactory in providing reasonable assurance regarding the sound management of the ERRF and the effectiveness of OCHA’s coordination mechanisms and oversight role for humanitarian activities in Haiti.”

As of August 2011, $86 million had been received in donor contributions, of which approximately $80 million had been programmed and allocated for projects, and about $57.4 million had been disbursed. The UN’s internal audit found “insufficient oversight over $86 million funding made available to OCHA by donors.” The rate of international staff salaries ranged as high as $32,000 a month, while the monthly salary of national staff ranged as high $18,000. Some vehicles were rented for as high as $6000 per month.

This is not an isolated instance that should raise concern about where OCHA-channeled money is really going. According to Nicolas Séris and Roslyn Hees of Transparency International (TI), “The top ten Priority countries featured in OCHA’s 2015 Consolidated Appeal all received very low rankings in TI’s 2014 Corruption Perception Index, scoring less than 25 out of a possible 100.”

OCHA’s total 2016 budget (funded mostly from voluntary contributions, supplemented by an allocation from the regular UN assessed budget) is $323,982,056 million. In addition, OCHA coordinates the donations of hundreds of millions of dollars to specific humanitarian emergency relief programs, such as the much-criticized Haiti Emergency Relief and Response Fund.  OCHA also spends funds to coordinate with politicized pro-Palestinian organizations.

Anyone who is serious about accountable, transparent delivery of humanitarian aid to people truly in need should think long and hard before making any further unconditional funding commitments to OCHA, including at the Turkish government-hosted World Humanitarian Summit.

It was cleared for publication today (Thursday) that a 28-meter (around 90 feet) deep tunnel was located under the security fence. The tunnel apparently leads into Israel. IDF officials stated that this is a violation of Israel’s sovereignty. Hours later, mortar shells were fired into the Eshkol Regional Council. Two falls were located in the area. The IDF responded with tank fire.

“Threats don’t deter Hamas and we will continue operating in light of the present violation of our sovereignty,” Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon stated today. “Since Hamas fired, we responded and we will continue to respond to any Hamas provocation so that an escalation won’t occur and Hamas won’t continue firing.”

The tunnel was located after the IDF increased its activities in the area, while combining technological, operational and intelligence tools in order to quash the tunnel threat. The IDF is currently investigating the tunnel, which will be mapped before it is destroyed.

Yesterday, the Israeli Air Force targeted several terror targets near the Palestinian city of Rafah in Gaza, after Hamas fired a number of mortar shells at IDF forces that were operating along the border in order to detect the tunnels. No soldiers were injured due to the mortar fire. IDF tanks also responded by returning fire.

“Don’t test our patience,” threatened Hamas, after the situation along the border spiraled yesterday. The terrorist organization claimed that it is deciding on how to respond to the “Israeli escalation in Eastern Gaza.”
