The Case for Trump + Cruz

March 20, 2016

The Case for Trump + Cruz, American ThinkerJames Lewis, March 20, 2016

There is an atmosphere of doom and despair hanging over the capital of the United States today.  The cause is by far the most competitive and genuinely democratic Republican primary season in many years, with by far the best team of Republican candidates, drawing more viewers to more substantive television debates than ever before.  In history.

Every single Republican candidate has been head and shoulders above any of the rickety Democrats.  Hillary and Bernie look so bad, and their ideas are so out of date that Hail Mary candidate Martin O’Malley, had to start his campaign with a soft-porn photo op showing his bare muscles.  Maybe it was supposed to appeal to the gay lobby, or maybe Obama has set yet another dreadful precedent for the future, but O’Malley flopped like a dead herring.  And he made the Hillary-Bernie show look even more pathetic.

You would think Republicans would take pride in an outstanding field of candidates competing with each other, and actually reaching far outside the usual voter base.  But no, even self-proclaimed conservatives in D.C. sense “a feeling of menace in the air.”

My hero Charles Krauthammer is down-hearted at the sight of Donald Trump leading the pack.  Dr. Krauthammer rightly blames the highly trained, Soros-paid and organized MoveOn.org ruckus-makers who invaded Donald Trump’s meeting in Chicago.  Krauthammer notes, “This was an act of deliberate sabotage created by a totalitarian left that specializes in the intimidation and silencing of political opponents.”

This is exactly correct.

But you know where his column is going.  It’s Trump who is the real menace in the minds of D.C., across the spectrum – which is too Marie Antoinette for words.  Conservatives have been calling for a popular revolt against the neo-Stalinist left for years, and when it shows up in the shape of Donald Trump, the Orange Demon, they join the P.C.  Organs of Propaganda in whipping up hysteria.  Even when Trump issues policy papers taken straight from our leading pundits, it’s not good enough.

This makes me think that Trump’s real sin is his unparalleled vulgarity, as practiced in the outer boroughs of New York.  Yes, our deep thinkers believe in democracy, but they feel an “air of menace” at the real thing, as if the vulgar mob is about to storm the Bastille.

Now, consider that America has barely survived almost eight years of the most radical left, America-sabotaging, and politically inverted administration in history.  Yet D.C. conservatives have come to terms with a racialist-Marxist-Islamophile administration, straight from the Chicago Machine.  Apparently our folks have come to terms with it, because they are shocked (shocked!) at a successful New York businessman actually leading the pack.  There is absolutely zero evidence that The Don has ever stirred up a riot, while the Soros-funded ruckus-makers have trained for years to do exactly what they did in Chicago.

George Soros started in Nazi-occupied Hungary by selling the household goods of Hungarian Jews who were arrested by the brutal S.S. and sent to the death camps, and yet Soros later wrote that it was “the best time in my life.”  Soros is a self-diagnosed narcissist, who funds numerous lefto-fascist groups, who actually do riot and disrupt conservative speakers on campus, as well as enemy politicians in the United States.  Those facts make me feel an “air of menace,” all right, and not just around the heavily fortified city of Washington, D.C.  General Petraeus was physically stormed by leftomaniacs at NYU six months ago, and he had to run for it.  The media barely reported it.  That kind of thing creates an air of menace, all right.  It is supposed to do that.  (See Karl Marx on revolutionary terror.)

Apparently our conservative elites have lost their perspective on things, which is what happens when you sleep with the enemy for too long.

If D.C. conservatives want to do something constructive, they might start making peace between Trump and Cruz, a dream team for real conservatives.  Trump and Cruz have had productive talks with each other, and there is not much disagreement on the fundamentals.  Trump is more of a pragmatist, as you might expect in a business guy.  He will do deals with the Devil if he feels it’s necessary – which is good preparation for dealing with Vladimir Putin.  Cruz has a very skilled legal mind, has shown real political courage in standing up to the GOP mafia in Congress.  Cruz has a passionate belief in constitutionalism.

Put those two powerhouses together, and we might get a break from the relentless assaults of the left.  At least we will be able to answer back, which is very important.  Young people today have never heard a president speak about constitutional government.  They will never hear it from Hillary or Bernie, but Trump and Cruz could penetrate some heavily indoctrinated skulls.

So let’s leave the hysteria to the socialist Democrats, who know how to run around tearing their hair off anyway.  The sooner GOP frontrunners unite, the better.  They are far more effective than Bob Dole and Lindsey Graham, with all due respect.  Trump brings in the Reagan Democrats, while Cruz can talk to the constitutionalists.

There isn’t a better team in politics to clean up D.C. after two terms of Marxist-Islamist-racialist abuses of power.  Remember the stakes in this election.  After a power-hungry Obama and a sex-obsessed Bill Clinton, consider a Trump+Cruz team compared to the alternative.  Americans are optimistic by instinct.  This is no time for conservatives, of all people, to scare the horses.  The left will do that all by itself, and we don’t have to help them spread delusional panic.

Washington (CNN)Several groups of rabbis and Jewish religious leaders are planning to protest Donald Trump’s speech to a major pro-Israel conference in Washington on Monday, accusing the presidential candidate of encouraging hatred.

Trump is scheduled to address the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference Monday night, and several groups are organizing boycotts of the speech.

Rabbis David Paskin and Jesse Olitzky organized one such campaign, called Come Together Against Hate, a play on the conference’s theme of “Come Together.”

The pair and their allies have created a website and Facebook group to organize a protest that they say is not designed to disrupt AIPAC but to signal their condemnation of Trump.

“This is not about policies, this is not about parties, this is about one particular person, Donald Trump, who has encouraged and incited violence at his campaign rallies,” said Paskin, a rabbi in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. “We are against the hatred, the incitement of hatred, the ugliness that has engulfed this political season.”

Paskin has organized a group of more than 300 rabbis, cantors and Jewish voters and professionals who plan to signal their distaste for Trump on Monday. He estimated that almost all of those individuals will be at AIPAC.

AIPAC is a pro-Israel lobbying group focused on energizing Americans around strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship and encouraging members of Congress to support its agenda. The annual conference is a key stop for politicians seeking an audience with the influential group and is the largest pro-Israel policy gathering of the year.

An AIPAC spokesman wouldn’t comment on the planned protest, but said the group has a “longstanding policy” to invite all the active presidential candidates to its conference during election years as an opportunity to hear from them on the U.S.-Israel relationship.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Other groups have also spoken out against Trump’s attendance at AIPAC, though they haven’t officially announced plans to protest.

The Union for Reform Judaism, representing the largest Jewish denomination in America, put out a statement slamming Trump.

“At every turn, Mr. Trump has chosen to take the low road, sowing seeds of hatred and division in our body politic,” said the URJ while noting that it doesn’t endorse candidates.

The American Jewish Committee, another large Jewish organization, put out a statement condemning “presidential campaign violence,” though it did not specifically name Trump.

“We do not draw analogies to the rise of communism and fascism lightly, but both of those tyrannical movements rose to power replacing democratically elected governments, by virtue of threats of, or actual, violence against their opponents,” the AJC said.

Come Together Against Hate’s plan is to either skip the speech altogether or silently walk out after Trump is introduced, then assemble outside and study Jewish scripture about what Paskin called the “opposite” of Trump — love and decency.

“We’re hoping thousands of people will join us in that protest,” Paskin said. “We’re going to be providing the antidote, we believe, to what Donald Trump is espousing.”

Paskin said he has reached out to another rabbi, Jeffrey Salkin of Hollywood, Florida, who is planning a similar protest.

Salkin confirmed to CNN that he’s organizing a boycott of Trump’s speech and calling for rabbis to simply be absent from the room.

He said that while he wants to show that AIPAC is bipartisan and welcomes politicians of both parties, that having Trump speak does not mean the group condones his message.

Citing in part Trump’s statements on immigrants, women and refugees, another Israel advocacy group, J Street, put out a statement Thursday declaring that “these factors in our view render Donald Trump unfit to be President of the United States.”

The statement added, “Trump and his campaign, driven by racism and hate, are beyond the bounds of acceptability for the vast majority of Jewish Americans.”

Trump has been a lightning rod of criticism throughout his campaign for comments he’s made and policies he’s espoused, including calling for a temporary ban on all foreign Muslims entering the U.S. and blocking Syrian refugees. He’s also had a tense relationship with the American Jewish community at times, delivering an awkward address in the fall to the Republican Jewish Coalition and holding positions that have rankled the pro-Israel crowd, such as refusing to pledge that Israel will keep Jerusalem as its undivided capital.

Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, is married to a devout Jewish man and observes Jewish customs, which Trump has mentioned on the trail.

Some protesters at his events have begun wearing yellow Stars of David, a reference to the labels forced upon Jews in Nazi Germany leading up to the Holocaust.

The GOP Sellout Continues

Perhaps they think the country isn’t paying attention to what’s happening on Capitol Hill because everyone is focused on the presidential race. (Photo: Kevin Dietsch/UPI/Newscom)

To watch the recent happenings on Capitol Hill, you would think this was just another typical presidential election year—a few bumps here and there, but no sign of a major shake-up, no indication voters were in revolt, nothing to suggest business as usual in Washington was perhaps falling out of fashion among the American public.

What else explains the lackluster, uninspiring, and, I would suggest, “sell out your base” agenda of GOP congressional leadership?

But at least the GOP is going to put up a fight on government spending, right? No, actually, they aren’t.

For example, the Senate GOP sold out its base on the issue of Common Core this week. Despite the fact Republicans have a majority in the Senate, seven members of the GOP joined a majority of Democrats to confirm President Barack Obama’s nominee, John B. King, Jr. as education secretary. King is an avowed supporter of Common Core and other top-down, government-knows best, education policies.

But at least the GOP is going to put up a fight on government spending, right? No, actually, they aren’t.  Apparently House and Senate leadership have decided the budget deal former House Speaker John Boehner and Obama agreed to last year is such a good one that they will keep it. That’s right, despite the fact Congress passed a Budget Control Act, supposedly to control the budget, Boehner and Obama blew through it, adding another $30 billion. And despite the fact that Boehner’s compliance in this matter is one of the primary reasons he is no longer in Congress, the current leadership is taking the same path. Their reasoning? Obama will fight us if we try to “cut” spending.

Instead of fighting Obama, GOP leadership would rather fight its conservative members who refuse to go along spend along based on promises of future reforms. They apparently believe you’re supposed to try and do what you told voters you would try and do. Ultimately, this means it’s unlikely the GOP will fulfill its promise to pass a budget this year and once again Congress will kick the problem further down the road.

Then there is the ongoing issue of judicial nominations. Republicans ran in 2014 on a platform promising to put a stop wherever possible to Obama’s executive overreach. One way of doing that is putting a halt on Obama’s judicial nominees—especially those for lifetime positions.

While Republican senators, thus far, have committed to not even hold hearings on a new Supreme Court Justice nominee to replace the late Antonin Scalia, their track record is more mixed in the case of several less publicized openings for federal and district level judgeships, also lifetime appointments. Obama nominees, including Wilhelmina Wright who once accused President Ronald Reagan of “bigotry,” were confirmed just last month, and four more are on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s schedule this week.

None of these appointments are necessary to protect the security of the country. A president, who has repeatedly usurped the power of Congress, should not be rewarded by Congress with judges who will no doubt rubber stamp his reckless view of the separation of powers.

All of these areas are issue areas where the GOP could have taken a stronger stand in order to make the case that its policies will make life better for all Americans.

As opposed to approving a nominee who supports Common Core, how about using the opportunity to explain and laud the benefits of more educational choices for parents and children?

As opposed to continuing Washington’s spending spree, why not lay out a budget that would rein in spending and reduce the debt all while keeping our military strong and improving our ability to help those in need? And for those who think such a budget just isn’t doable, check out Heritage’s Blueprint here.

Perhaps they think the country isn’t paying attention to what’s happening on Capitol Hill because everyone is focused on the presidential race.

Considering a recent survey by the American Perceptions Initiative found that 75 percent of Americans agree that “Congress has the responsibility to make sure the president does not skirt the law or overturn the will of the people as reflected in those laws,” a battle over judicial nominations seems like a very good place for the GOP to remind people that Obama, from executive amnesty to rewriting parts of Obamacare, has been doing just that.

Perhaps they think the country isn’t paying attention to what’s happening on Capitol Hill because everyone is focused on the presidential race. What they should understand is that people have been paying attention all along and a presidential race no one in Washington expected is a direct result.

Serious Concerns Over ‘Shocking’ Irregularities And ‘Fake’ Complaints In Geert Wilders Free Speech Case

The Netherlands’ best-selling newspaper has presented damning testimony that the criminal trial against anti-Islamification campaigner Geert Wilders is flawed, with many complainant declarations “fake”.

Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders’ trial for supposed hate speech started this morning, but the quality of the government prosecutor’s case has been called into question. Earlier this week De Telegraaf published a leaked report suggesting many of the 6,400 plaintiffs in the case were not Dutch speakers and hadn’t even been aware they were signing statements.

The report from the weekend edition stated: “The charges [against Wilders] were often pressed by ignorant, non-Dutch speaking and sometimes even illiterate elderly immigrants who had no idea what they were doing”. In total the Dutch government received some 15,000 complaints of discrimination.

The actual reasons behind the majority of the 6,400 complainants may never be known, as the judge presiding over Wilders’ case refused the defence the opportunity to investigate the plaintiffs. It was only after “much pleading” he was finally given access to just 15 of the 6,400.

One complainant told Mr. Wilder’s defence lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops that outsiders had come to his mosque with papers, claiming they were ballot papers. Doing what he was told, the man duly “voted” for Mr. Wilders, or so he thought. When pressed by the defence lawyer, the Muslim was shocked to hear Mr. Wilders was to go to court because of the paper he had signed, he had no idea what it was or who Mr. Wilders is.

One of the other witnesses spoken to by the defence lawyer was also given already filled-out papers at his mosque. He said he saw other people doing the same, and believed that at just one mosque as many as 1,200 people complained against Mr. Wilders.

Another witness said he had been walking through the market and a group of men pressed a complaint paper into his hand and told him he had to sign it. He agreed because he didn’t want a fight but explained he didn’t know what he was signing — the man professed to being illiterate.

When pressed by the lawyer, the man said far from feeling discriminated against he felt Mr. Wilders had the right to say what he wanted, as long as that right was also extended to others.

On my way to court in police escort. No one will silence me. No terrorist, no prime minister and no court either.

These questionable practices extend well beyond Dutch mosques. One complainant spoken to by lawyer Mr. Knoops reported when he went to a police station to make a complaint, the officers there said they also felt “uncomfortable” about Mr. Wilders’ words. The officers filled out the complaint forms out on behalf of the men, which they couldn’t read as an interpreter was not present. The man remarked “I was told to sign the document”.

While the way in which the prosecution was brought may cause concern, ultimately it may not interrupt the prosecution of Mr. Wilders, as the court may judge his call for “less Moroccans” to be a criminal offence in any case.

The case now underway relates to comments Mr. Wilders made in March 2014 at an electoral rally where he asked supporters whether they wanted more or fewer Moroccans in the country. As they chanted “fewer, fewer” in response, Mr. Wilders replied: “We’ll organise that”. The case is now being seen as a major test on the limits of freedom of speech in the Netherlands.

Mr. Wilders has previously been acquitted on making anti-Islam statements, but he is now being charged with “insulting a group” and inciting hatred and discrimination. He has called the present trial “politically motivated”, a point of view apparently supported by a Turkey-based Dutch-Moroccan Al-Jazeera journalist who today boasted about her role in brining Mr. Wilders to court:

In 2014 my team & I asked people to report ‘ hate speech against Dutch-Moroccans. 6,000 reports laters we finally have a trial.

Once today’s procedural hearing is complete, the case will resume in August, with a judgement expected in November.

Jordanian Parliament Bans Selling, Renting Property to Israelis

Love your neighbors .

A Palestinian tries to dodge rubber coated bullets during clashes with Israeli troops near Ramallah, West Bank, Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015. A pair of Palestinian men boarded a bus in Jerusalem and began shooting and stabbing passengers, while another assailant rammed a car into a bus station before stabbing bystanders, in near-simultaneous attacks Tuesday that escalated a monthlong wave of violence. Three Israelis and two attackers were killed. (AP Photo/Majdi Mohammed)

These are the “moderates.” Now remember that the “moderates” are, contrary to media myth, actually a small minority in a sea of “extremists” who want Israel destroyed and all the Jews massacred.

“Jordanian Parliament Bans Selling, Renting Property to Israelis,” by Ali Waked, Breitbart, March 17, 2016 (thanks to Christian):

JAFFA, Israel – Jordan’s parliament has banned selling or renting property in the Petra area to Israelis following a heated plenary debate.

Lawmakers defied calls to strike down the bill as unlawful because Israel doesn’t have a similar law and approved a regulation that allows the rental of property and land to people of all nationalities except Israel.

“Their claim of bilateralism is void because Israel isn’t a legal entity,” the bill’s sponsors told the Jordanian media. “It is a land-grabbing entity.”

They noted that Israelis might try to bypass the regulation by using non-Israeli straw men or registering their companies in Jordan, the country’s semi-official Al Dustour newspaper wrote, adding that the representatives of the Jordanian people reject normalization with Israel and insist that Palestinian land remain Palestinian.

Some MPs said the bill was necessary because “The Jews claim ownership of Petra and are likely to encroach on the area to fulfill their schemes. We are for encouraging investment, but not at the expense of the holiness of the land. If we let Jews purchase land, we will de facto recognize Israel’s existence.”

Israel has never made any territorial claims on Petra.

In January, Breitbart Jerusalem reported that Jordanian MPs are drafting a bill that would ban Israelis from purchasing land in Jordan.

“Jordan does not allow Israeli ownership of lands and property anywhere in the country,” declared Mouein al-Sayeg, director of the government’s Lands Administration.

“The Jordanian people fear an Israeli takeover of state lands,” al Sayej said. “These concerns are unwarranted and have been addressed by the law.”

“The lands administration monitors the nationality of potential buyers very closely,” he added.

“Foreign buyers are required to reveal their identity, so that we can prevent undesired nationalities from gaining a foothold in our property market.”

Jordan and Israel normalized relations more than two decades ago, but public opinion in the kingdom – more than a half of whose population is of Palestinian extraction – is hostile to the Jewish state.

Europe is betting its future on the proposition that the overwhelming majority of the huge numbers of Muslims it is importing are “moderates” and will become loyal citizens. If that were true, however, why do things like this happen? Why weren’t the Muslims in Molenbeek out cheering the police as they apprehended the Paris jihad murderer Salah Abdeslam? And why hadn’t they already turned him in?

“Violence Breaks Out in Molenbeek After Paris Suspect’s Arrest,” by Abigail R. Esman, Investigative Project,  March 18, 2016 (thanks to Patrick):

The most wanted terrorist in Europe, considered the mastermind in November’s multi-targeted attack in Paris that left 130 people dead, was arrested Friday by Belgian authorities.

But residents in the Molenbeek district of Brussels, where Saleh Abdeslam was captured, didn’t breathe a sigh of relief. Within hours, the district, which has a majority Muslim population, erupted into riots. Dozens of Abdeslam’s fans attacked police with bottles, stones, and other objects, local press reported, angered by the arrest of their “hero.”

The situation is developing.

Worse yet, Belgian newspaper De Morgen reported (subscription only) that “the whole neighborhood” knew where Abdeslam was ever since the Paris attacks.  Nobody tipped off authorities.

The violence and code of silence over Abeslam’s hideout is not as surprising as it might seem. As we’ve noted previously, the Paris attacks were hatched in Molenbeek, in addition to the 2015 attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo‘s offices.
