DHS: Hamas-Tied NJ Imam Must Prove Why He Shouldn’t Be Deported

DHS: Hamas-Tied NJ Imam Must Prove Why He Shouldn’t Be Deported, Investigative Project on Terrorism, John Rossomando, December 7, 2016

Evidence being used against him in the Department of Homeland Security’s effort to deport him is the product of torture and is not credible, a Hamas-connected imam testified Tuesday in a Newark, N.J. immigration court.

Mohammad Qatanani is imam at the Islamic Center of Passaic County. Immigration officials have been fighting to deport him since 2006, alleging he failed to disclose connections with Hamas when he applied for permanent residency. When he came to the United States 10 years earlier, he claimed he had never been arrested or belonged to any terrorist groups.

That history makes Qatanani subject to deportation, DHS says.

Tuesday’s hearing centered on Qatanani’s October 1993 arrest and conviction by an Israeli military court on charges he provided support to Hamas. He claims Israeli authorities detained him and never charged him.

“No lawyer prior to 2008 ever told me that I had a conviction,” Qatanani said.

U.S. Immigration Judge Judge Alberto Reifkohl ruled in 2008 that the bulk of the evidence and testimony introduced by the Department of Homeland Security was not credible and granted Qatanani permanent residency, better known as a “green card.”

The Justice Department’s Board of Immigration Appeals sent the case back to Reifkohl in October 2009, finding that he erred rejecting the credibility of evidence and government testimony.

In addition, DHS attorneys bolstered some of the evidence obtained from Israeli officials, including two confessions which include statements Qatanani made about his Hamas connection. Three additional witness statements came from people who told Israeli officials that Qatanani recruited them to join Hamas

Qatanani claims he never was given translations of the Hebrew-language Israeli court records and never knew what they alleged. “There is no confession to my understanding” Qatanani said Tuesday.

He also disputed that the signatures on the documents were his, saying instead they were “similar” to his signature. DHS evidence was able to match the fingerprints on the documents to Qatanani.

He claims he was mistreated in Israeli custody, but never signed any documents he thought were confessions, describing them as “finishing papers.”

The legal standard in immigration court is less stringent than a criminal conviction. This means DHS only needs to show that Qatanani had associations with Hamas that he hid on his visa application. Under immigration law, the Qatanani has the burden of proof to show he is not a terrorist, said Department of Homeland Security Deputy Chief Counsel Chris Brundage.

It’s impossible for Qatanani to get around the fact he lied when he said he never had been arrested, Brundage said.

No ruling was issued before the hearing recessed. It is scheduled to resume next month.

Sometimes the enemy slips up and tells you his agenda.

Keith Ellison had a clear path to heading the DNC. He had the backing of Harry Reid and Schumer. He was the leading prog candidate. Howard Dean dropped out to clear the path for him. But the Investigative Project has stayed on this. It’s released audio of some of his speeches, particularly to Muslim groups, and the content is certainly revealing.

The fundraiser for Ellison’s re-election campaign was hosted by Esam Omeish, a past president of the Muslim American Society (MAS) who was forced to resign from a Virginia state immigration panel in 2007 after an exclusive IPT videotape showed him praising Palestinians for choosing the “the jihad way … to liberate your land.” Omeish was a candidate for Virginia’s general assembly the previous year, and Ellison spoke at a fundraiser for that losing effort.

There are rants about Israel in this one. All the stuff you expect. But there are also revealing comments like these about the larger Islamist plan for America.

Here’s Ellison on ObamaCare

“”Salaam aleikum brothers and sisters. First of all let me tell you, this day, this huge day where the President signed the healthcare bill, should know that the Muslim community was at the very forefront of this effort. There is not 25 Muslim clinics, there is not 30; there is about 35 clinics founded by Muslims throughout the United States. And it seems like every single day there is a new one being formed yet again. We got big ones in Chicago, in Los Angeles, but also throughout Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, Maryland, New York, all through Florida”

“Things are going well because not only this healthcare debate there was a group of Muslim physicians and medical professionals who beat the doors down and talked about to every member of Congress about the need for federally qualified healthcare centers. I mean can you imagine?”

There is a larger strategy to gain and build influence.

“We need to have so much goods and services going back and forth between this country and the Muslim world that if we say we need this right here, then everybody is saying, OK. Do you understand my point? If you, I mean you’ve got to be strategic. And these things are not overnight, they’re not a one and done. It takes time to build these relationships and they got to be built.”

“These business relationships can be leveraged to say that we need some, a new deal politically. Do you understand what I am trying to say? And so, and bring some of your, you know, friends who may not be Muslim along too.”

“I’m telling you now, with some of the money that you give to me, one of the things I do is I make sure that in Minnesota that whoever I’m supporting wins. And I tell them, this is the hard-earned dollars of Muslim-Americans. OK, so they know.”

The larger goal is influence and domination.

” Sometimes people run for office and I always tell them, brother you remember when you were running, I say you know what, you may not win, but you run like you’re going to win. Right? Because only Allah knows who’s going to win and sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose the first time, win the next time. You know what I mean [audience – yes, yes]. So we gotta keep on running, cause I lost the first time I ran. But what I am saying is we can decide whether we are going to fight hard, right? And I am telling you, that with your help, we are able to take Muslim presence on Capitol Hill from zero to a real player. And this is what we’re trying to do and we got to do it in every state house in America, we got to do it in the Capitol Hill.”

“The message I want to send to you is that what you’re doing by donating to this campaign is positioning me and positioning Muslims in general to help steer the ship of state in America. You understand what I am saying? [Another person says, “Yes”] Steer it in a direction that makes sense”

“CAIR has not fallen, they are fighting and struggling every day. Right? I am telling you that every Friday my brother calls the adhan in the Capitol. Is that right? [Male replies ‘Alhamdulillah.’] Under the Capitol dome. [Male says, ‘Yes sir.’] And whenever, is that right? [Replies of “yes” and “Alhamdulillah”].”

Along with bursts of triumphalism.

” Do you know that there is a Muslim brother about to buy the Los Angeles Rams? [One guys says ‘Saint Louis.’] Saint Louis Rams. [Laughter and commotion over few words] Rams, but the Rams. Muslim guys getting ready to buy the Rams. [Male says, “not Rush Limbaugh] Not Rush Limbaugh. [Laughter.] You know those players said we will not play for that racist, we will not play for that racist. But they’ll say, we’ll play for the Muslim guy. [Laughter, someone claps.] You know alhamdulillah. So, so, and do you know that Ethan Allen, owned by a Muslim, right? ”

“If you measure progress by the day, you might not see it. If you measure progress by the week you may not see it. But if you measure progress by the year, in two years, in three years, in 10 years, in 20 years, it’s unmistakable progress, unmistakable, unmistakable progress”

Habitat for Humanity’s Terror-Linked Friends

Habitat for Humanity’s Terror-Linked Friends, Front Page MagazineJoe Kaufman, December 2, 2016

The Islamic Circle of North America stains a good cause.

For decades, Habitat for Humanity (HFH), a Christian charity, has been building homes for those who are less fortunate in society, regardless of religion. Because of this truly noble undertaking, the organization has garnered much praise around the world, including from leaders of nations. However, recently, the group has been doing something to lose that respect and sully its reputation. It has been allowing itself to become affiliated with groups associated with international terrorism. One of these groups is the Islamic Circle of North America or ICNA.

ICNA is the American affiliate of South Asian Islamist group Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). JI’s militant wing, Hizbul Mujahideen, owned the Pakistani compound where Osama bin Laden was hiding out and where he was eventually killed by US Navy Seals. ICNA, itself, has been linked to terrorist financing and has used the web to promote different terrorist groups, including Hamas, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and the Taliban.

ICNA conducts its annual functions with the Muslim American Society (MAS), which, in November 2014, along with al-Qaeda and ISIS, was designated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government a terrorist organization. The National Executive Director of MAS, Mazen Mokhtar, was a US-based administrator for qoqaz.net (‘Jihad in Chechnya’), an al-Qaeda recruitment and financing site, and has been quoted as calling Hamas operations “heroic” and suicide bombings “an effective method of attacking the enemy and continuing jihad.”

The main charity of ICNA is ICNA Relief. In August 2006, ICNA Relief was the top donor and partner to Pakistani charity Al Khidmat Foundation (AKF), at the same time AKF took a delegation to Syria to hand deliver nearly $100,000 to the global head of Hamas, Khaled Mashal, at his then-Damascus residence. Today, Mashal operates out of Qatar. Mashal thanked the group and said Hamas would continue to wage “jihad” (war) on the “Zionist yoke” (Israel).

ICNA Relief continues to work directly with AKF overseas. In fact, the President of AKF’s Central Board of Management, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor, is a former Secretary General of ICNA.

On October 15th, ICNA Relief partnered with the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at Florida International University (FIU) for a Habitat for Humanity event, in Pompano Beach, Florida. Attending were both leaders of their respective Muslim groups, the President of the FIU MSA, Sara Haroon, and the Secretary of ICNA Florida and ICNA Relief USA Florida, Abdul Rauf Khan.

ICNA’s Khan has used his Facebook page to post videos dedicated to Nation of Islam leader and anti-Jewish fanatic Louis Farrakhan and Egypt’s banned Muslim Brotherhood. He has been photographed wearing Muslim Brotherhood garb, himself. Khan also posted a video on his Facebook site glorifying a member of Hezbollah as a “hero,” and he posted a link to an anti-Semitic video labeling comedian talk show host Bill Maher, “Zionist Jew Bill Maher.”

Listed on the flyer – which contains both the ICNA Relief and Habitat for Humanity logos – as the contact for the Habitat event is Taha Qureshi, the Outreach Coordinator for ICNA Relief USA Florida.

Qureshi likes sharing controversial posts on his Facebook page. In October, he shared a post stating, “Don’t worry about Trump. Abu Lahab has always existed – We just need more Abu Bakrs.” When Muslims refer to someone as an Abu Lahab, who was the half-uncle of Muhammad, they are calling him/her an enemy of Islam.

In August, Qureshi shared a Facebook post with his readers referring to English as a “shit language.” And in February, Qureshi shared a post praising the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al-Banna, as “a legend” who “feared none but his Lord” and memorializing the anniversary of his death in 1949.

This is not the first event ICNA Relief has done with Habitat for Humanity. They have done a number of them, in Florida and other parts of the country. In January, the two came together, also in Pompano Beach, Florida. Attending that event as a volunteer for ICNA Relief was the imam of Masjid Jamaat Al-Mumineen (MJAM), Izhar Khan.

In May 2011, Khan was arrested and spent the next 20 months in a federal detention center in Miami on charges of terrorism. According to the indictment against him, “Izhar is a Pakistani Taliban sympathizer who worked with [his father Hafiz Muhammad Sher Ali Khan] and others to collect and deliver money for the Pakistani Taliban… Izhar… provided and attempted to provide material support and resources… knowing and intending that they be used in preparation for and in carrying out… a conspiracy to murder, kidnap, and maim persons in a foreign country.”

Other radical Muslim outfits have participated in similar projects with HFH, including the Hamas-related Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Are these the types of groups and individuals Habitat for Humanity wishes to represent their cause? Does HFH really want a support network for terror and bigotry to be associated with their name and their logo?

It is obvious these organizations are cynically exploiting Habitat’s name and humanitarian endeavors for their own sinister purposes. If HFH wishes to preserve its integrity – and its donors – it must cease working with groups which promote a violent Islamist agenda.

The website for Habitat for Humanity contains the following message of thanks: “We are deeply grateful to the many partners who help Habitat for Humanity build decent and affordable housing in the United States and around the world.”

But how could anyone ever be thankful towards those who spread violence and hate?

“President-elect Trump must reconsider some of the selections he has made as top advisers to his administration,” asserted Brenda Abdelall of Muslim Advocates. “Otherwise, the selection of individuals like Steve Bannon (White House counselor), Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (National Security Adviser) and Sen. Jeff Sessions (Attorney General nominee) indicates that the bigoted and divisive rhetoric that we saw in his campaign will continue as a matter of policy and practice in the White House.”

************************

A coalition of self-described “civil rights groups” tarring GOP President-elect Donald Trump and his advisers as “white supremacists” unleashing “hate crimes” against Muslims and other minorities is made up of Democrat activists who endorsed or donated heavily to Hillary Clinton, federal records show.

The group — comprised of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Muslim Advocates, The Leadership Conference, National Council of La Raza and the American Federation of Teachers — says it formed to protect minorities from the “hate-filled” and “bigoted rhetoric” of Trump and his supporters. But it has a decidedly partisan political agenda that includes trying to derail key Trump appointments to his Cabinet.

Earlier this week, the group held a press conference in Washington calling on Trump to “disavow” supposedly “anti-Muslim” policy proposals and “reconsider” Cabinet appointees “who have sent a message that white supremacy and anti-Muslim conspiracy theories are in vogue this days.”

Added Abdelall: “He needs to disavow the dangerous proposals and ideas that single out and demonize Muslims and other communities.”

The George Soros-controlled group bankrolling Muslim Advocates, the Open Society Foundation, gave $9,463 to Clinton and $0 to Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.

White House visitors logs show San Francisco-based Muslim Advocates met with Obama officials at least 11 times, including several times in 2011 to lobby the administration to purge FBI and Homeland Security counterterrorism training materials it deemed “offensive” to Muslims. Muslim Advocates played a central role in the agencies removing in 2012 more than 870 pages of material from some 390 presentations — including PowerPoints and papers describing jihad as “holy war” and portraying the Muslim Brotherhood as a worldwide jihadist movement bent on, according to its own bylaws, “establishing an Islamic state.” Security experts say the purge weakened terrorism investigations and left the US vulnerable to the rash of deadly homegrown jihadists attacks seen in the country starting with 2013’s Boston Marathon bombings.

Top Muslim Advocates officials have spoken at Islamic conferences held by known Muslim Brotherhood front groups and defended a major U.S. Muslim Brotherhood charity convicted of financing terrorism.

Southern Poverty Law Center President Richard Cohen called Trump’s naming of Bannon as his top White House strategist “a very unfortunate sign.” He contended that Bannon “is the alter ego” of American white nationalist Richard Spencer.

“Mr. Trump has been singing the white supremacist song since he came down the escalator in his tower and announced his candidacy,” Cohen claimed, adding that “he needs to apologize to the Muslim community.”

Cohen, who says he was the target of discrimination “growing up as a Jewish kid,” has hired security guards to protect his offices and home in Montgomery, Ala. In the past, he has said that he so feared “white supremacists” that he “had to leave his home and stay in a hotel as a precautionary measure.”

A search of Federal Election Commission records shows that Southern Poverty Law Center directors have given more than $13,450 to Hillary Clinton’s campaigns.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is also backed by the ultra-liberal billionaire Soros, and has supported radical leftists, including unrepentant communist terrorist Bill Ayers, whom the group once called “a highly respected figure.”

The National Press Club event also featured Janet Marguia of the National Council of La Raza, an illegal immigrant advocacy group, who claimed Trump was “threatening” Hispanic children.

La Raza, which means “the race,” refuses to condemn an openly racist affiliate known as MECHa, which claims the Southwest was stolen and should be returned to Mexico and whose slogan is “For the race, everything; outside the race, nothing.”

In the 2016 election cycle, La Raza gave $6,600 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign and $0 to Trump’s campaign.

American Federation of Teachers President Randy Weingarten also took the podium to denounce Trump and his appointments.

“The nomination of Jeff Sessions, the appointment of Steve Bannon and the appointment of Mike Flynn all sent a message that white supremacy and anti-Muslim conspiracy theories are in vogue these days,” she said.

American Federation of Teachers formally endorse Clinton and donated$38,885 to her campaign while contributing nothing to Trump.

“We endorsed Hillary today for the same reasons we endorsed (her) in the Democratic primary. She is a tested leaders who shares our values,” Weingarten said</> earlier this year. “Today, our members made it clear we stand with her.”

During the campaign, AFT made more than 1 million phone calls and knocked on more than 500,000 doors to get out the vote for Clinton.

Leadership Conference President Wade Henderson also laced into Trump and his nominations, claiming they were “racist.”

“We are concerned about the impact of Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, Gen. Mike Flynn or Steve Bannon just a heartbeat away from the presidency,” he said during the press conference.

Henderson charged that Bannon “has supported and embraced organizations that take direct views that are anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, anti-immigrant and racist.” He also alleged that Sessions is “someone whose record will suggest that he will have great difficulty in enforcing civil rights laws, including hate crimes laws on the books.”

In the 2016 election cycle, records show The Leadership Conference donated $8230 to Hillary Clinton and her presidential campaign, while contributing $0 to Trump. All told, the conference gave $81,800 to Democrat candidates for federal office in 2016 vs. $0 for Republicans.

In addition, FEC individual donation records reveal that The Leadership Council’s top lobbyists — including executive vice president Nancy Zirkin and senior counsel Emily Chatterjee — have personally given thousands of dollars to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Georgetown University prof: “Islamophobia” causes jihad terror, white supremacists greater threat than jihadis, Jihad Watch

Tucker Carlson does a good job here calling out Georgetown University professor Engy Abdelkader on her deflection, dissembling, and dishonesty, but he does let one massive lie go by: that the FBI has said that “white supremacist groups” are more of a terror threat than Islamic jihadists. The FBI is not actually the source of this claim. It actually comes from the George Soros-funded New America Foundation, which back in June 2015 published a study that purported to demonstrate that “right-wing extremists” and “white supremacists” were a larger threat to the U.S. than Islamic jihadis. But the study was obviously skewed, as it was based on the number of those killed by jihadis and by right-wing extremists since September 12, 2001, leaving  out 9/11. The study also ignored the many, many foiled jihad plots, and the fact that jihadis are part of an international movement that has killed many thousands of people, while right-wingers and white supremacists are not. It stated that right-wing extremists had killed 48 people from September 12, 2001 to June 2015, while Islamic jihadists had killed only 26 people in the U.S. in that span. If 9/11 had been added, the tally would have been 3,032 killed by Islamic jihadists and 48 by purported right-wing extremists.

And even by the New America Foundation’s rules counting the Orlando jihad massacre, which took place after the study was concluded, but leaving out 9/11 as the NAF study did, the death toll now stands at 76 killed by Islamic jihadis, and 48 by purported right-wing extremists (I repeat “purported” because to get to its count of 48, the NAF counted as “right-wing” attacks killings that were perpetrated by people who were obviously deranged psychopaths devoid of any ideology).

Abdelkader also claims that Muslims routinely aid law enforcement in apprehending jihad terrorists. She didn’t mention that A California chapter of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) distributed a poster telling Muslims not to talk to the FBI, and a Florida chapter distributed pamphlets with the same message.

So this Georgetown University professor — a university, by the way, that receives millions from Saudi Arabia — is making wholly false claims.

Curse Trump or Denounce Political Islam: Which Will It Be?

Curse Trump or Denounce Political Islam: Which Will It Be?, Clarion Project, Tahir Gora, November 28, 2016

Sadly, Political Islamists in our major mosques and other Islamic establishments are maneuvering ordinary Muslims’ sentiments against Western societies.

Until these mosques and organizations in the USA, Canada and elsewhere denounce violent jihad, sharia law, gender inequality, intolerance, the mixing of religion in politics and Political Islam itself, Muslims won’t be able to integrate in modern societies.

*********************************

Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. elections represents a hope for many progressive Muslims around the globe that adherents to Islamic extremist groups from Islamic State to the Muslim Brotherhood and Jamaat-e-Islami will get some resistance both to their abhorrent activities and their mindset.

The Muslim Brotherhood and Western liberal parties’ alliances have left Islamists forces unleashed on liberal and progressive Muslims.

We are unfortunately experiencing this kind of alliance in Canada, too, where some members of parliament, who are silent supporters of the Brotherhood and Jamaat-e-Islami, are threatening and harassing journalists who oppose their Brotherhood ideologies. Sadly, our Liberal government doesn’t seem to consider these threats to our own core values.

Given this such situation, liberal and progressive Muslims have no choice but to align themselves with the conservative parties that at least denounce honor killings, sharia law, gender inequality and concealing one’s identity through the wearing of a niqab.

President-elect Trump used rough and tough language regarding Muslims during his election campaign. Many in the liberal media and Muslim organizations tried their best to create a backlash, but he survived and won the election in a landslide victory in the Electoral College.

Let’s examine what he actually said in his most infamous election campaign speech regarding banning Muslims. From a press release issued by Trump:

Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.

According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.”

Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.

Mr. Trump stated, “Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension.”

Trump was simply presenting research findings by Pew Research and The Center for Security Policy.

As a Muslim-born person and a practicing journalist for over 30 years within a number of Muslim communities, I see more underlying hatred within the Muslim diaspora against each other’s sects as well as towards non-Muslims than described by Pew Research and The Center for Security Policy.

Liberals and my fellow Muslims! Let’s understand and accept the facts.

Being beneficiary to each other in terms of Muslim vote banks for liberals and “Muslims’ privileges” from liberals is not the deal at all.

Together, we are ruining the liberal pillars of democracy.

President-elect Trump raised a vital question during his election campaign: Where does this hatred comes from?

In my humble opinion, this hatred comes from the mindset of Political Islam as espoused by the teachings of the Muslim Brotherhood, Jamaat-e-Islami and Hizb-ut-Tahrir and the like.

These groups are the ideological forefathers of Islamic State, the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab, etc.

The sooner we acknowledge this fact, the sooner we will be able to recognize the clandestine players of Political Islam active within our own political system and its policies.

Rather than cursing President-elect Trump, the mosque establishment in the U.S. needs to sit with the new government and provide assurances about modernizing their institutions and communities.

Miami Crime Watch Executive Committee Features Pro-Terror Anti-Semite

November 29, 2016

Miami Crime Watch Executive Committee Features Pro-Terror Anti-Semite, Front Page MagazineJoe Kaufman, November 29, 2016

crimewatch

According to the group’s website, “Citizens’ Crime Watch is a nonprofit county-wide crime prevention program funded by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, grants and donations.” This would sound, to anyone, like a very noble and civic-minded undertaking. That is until he/she finds out about Sofian Zakkout, the pro-terror anti-Semite who sits on the Citizens’ Crime Watch Executive Committee, a position he has exploited for years.

Sofian Abdelaziz Zakkout is the founder and President of the Miami, Florida-based American Muslim Association of North America (AMANA). In July 2014, AMANA was the main sponsor of a pro-Hamas rally held outside the Israeli Consulate in Downtown Miami.

It is not out of the ordinary for Zakkout to be involved in such a thing, as he regularly posts, onto the internet, photos and videos of Hamas militants and leaders and has, himself, stated in Arabic that “Hamas is in my heart and on my head.” At the rally, Zakkout is shown on video smiling, as a sea of his followers repeatedly scream, “We are Hamas.”

This month alone, Zakkout posted to his personal Facebook page a video of a speech made by senior political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and a report from Hamas representative in Lebanon, Ali Baraka.

However, Hamas is not the only terrorist group Zakkout promotes. This month, he as well posted a video of a speech made by now-deceased leader of Syrian al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra, Abdullah al-Muhaysini. Before he was killed, al-Muhaysini, a Saudi cleric, worked to bring al-Qaeda and ISIS together in Syria. Over the video, Zakkout wrote in Arabic, “Allahu Akbar, God is great and thank God.”

This past March, Zakkout posted a graphic featuring a montage of deceased terrorist leaders. The graphic included many well-known Hamas figures, like Hamas founders Ahmed Yassin and Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi and chief bomb maker of Hamas Yahya Ayyash. It also included Osama bin Laden and bin Laden’s mentor, Abdullah Yusuf Azzam.

Besides illegal terrorist groups, Zakkout also promotes much bigotry, especially that which is aimed at Jews. He frequently refers to Jews as “pigs and monkeys.” In February, on his Facebook page, he promoted a video claiming “the Holocaust was faked.” In June, he clicked “like” on Facebook in response to a cartoon depicting a tree calling on a Muslim brandishing a rifle to murder the Jew that was hiding behind it [the tree]. The tree stated in Arabic, “Oh Muslim! Oh Muslim! There is a Jew behind me. Come and kill him.”

This month, Zakkout made the claim that religious Jews have a predisposition toward thievery. Zakkout posted onto Facebook photos he apparently had taken of three Orthodox Jews at a supermarket, while writing the following: “I walked into a large store in Miami, Florida. I found those who call themselves Observant Jews stealing grapes and fruit… They stole our country and steal everywhere, even here in America. Uglier than what I saw.” And he signed it “Sofian.”

Also this month, Zakkout posted a video in which Al-Azhar University scholar Ibrahim Al-Khouli attacked Jews, Christians and homosexuals. He stated, “[T]he title ‘Dialogue of the Divine Religions’ is a deception and a lie. There is no such thing as ‘divine religions.’ Allah has only one religion, Islam… To call ‘divine’ what has been distorted by the Church and by the Jews… is a deception of Muslims and non-Muslims alike… [S]uch a dialogue is between a lamb and a wolf, with the lamb being the Muslims and the wolf being the others.”

Al-Khouli further stated, “Between Islam and between Christianity and Judaism, there is a basic contradiction in the essence of faith. What moral values do we share? Fornication and promiscuity? The values of homosexuality? Of the marriage of monks in churches? The marriage of one man to another? Childbirth out of wedlock? This is the downfall of mankind – decent to a level lower than animals.”

This exact sentiment is echoed in an article that was previously placed on Zakkout’s AMANA website, titled ‘The Call for the Unity of Religions – A False and Dangerous Call.’ The author of the article states, “The Christians and Jews want the Muslims to be like them. That is why they support this deceptive call for ‘unity.’”

Further evidence of bigotry coming from both Zakkout and his group AMANA is displayed with their promotion of white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. Zakkout and his group were chastised by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for posting an anti-Semitic Duke video onto the AMANA website; the ADL described the video as being “venomous.” Zakkout calls Duke “a man to believe in!” and says of Duke, “I respect him for his honesty!”

The most disturbing part about all of the above is that Sofian Zakkout, in the midst of perpetrating this, is associated with the boards of community anti-crime organizations. One, Citizens’ Crime Watch of Miami-Dade County, has him sitting on its Executive Committee and listed on its corporation as an “Officer/Director.”

Many of the leaders of Citizens’ Crime Watch, including its President Irving Heller and its Vice President Juan P. Perez, are associated with the Miami-Dade Police Department. Last month, on the group’s website, Perez’s name replaced Miami-Dade Police Director JD Patterson’s name as Vice President, yet Zakkout’s name remained intact.

According to the group, “When neighborhood watch is fully operative, you and your neighbors become the ‘Eyes and Ears’ of [the] local police department… The program educates residents in crime prevention, homeland security, and natural disasters.”

How can this organization educate the public on any of these things, when it is harboring an individual who is a supporter of terror and bigotry and a potential threat to the community?

The inclusion of Sofian Zakkout on the board of Citizen’s Crime Watch is rendering this group irrelevant at best and a risk to national security at worst.

It is time that this travesty was ended and for law enforcement to launch a criminal investigation into Zakkout’s ongoing support of terrorism and anti-Semitic incitement. He should be dismissed from his position at Citizens’ Crime Watch immediately. That he is still there raises the question of “Who is guarding the guardians?”

An article posted today by The Clarion Project — which supports the reformation of Islam and opposes Sharia law and Islamic jihad — states that an Islamist organization named “Muslims of America” is planning violent confrontations with the Trump administration.

Khalifa Hussain Abdallah, (foreground) known as ‘K1’ within the group for his top ranking as an original founder, is said to be a key supervisor of these preparations for armed conflict.

Here’s an interview by Bill O’Reilly with Clarion Project National Security Analyst Ryan Mauro.  Presented on January 15, 2015, it deals with Muslims of America and other Islamist groups active in Obama’s America:

The Clarion Project article published today states that,

Multiple confidential sources inside of a powerful jihadist group within the United States have informed the Christian Action Network and the Clarion Project that members have been told to arm themselves in anticipation of raids by the Trump Administration.

It seems odd that sources inside the organization would give advance warning of its intentions, but they appear to have done so. The organization seems well motivated, equipped and trained to carry out its threats.

The members believe that President-elect Trump is part of a satanic-Zionist conspiracy to destroy Islam, and that he is fulfilling apocalyptic End Times prophecies. Any action taken against MOA is seen as part of a war on Islam, a situation that permits violent jihad.

The preparations for armed confrontation are described as “self-defense measures,” but one source cautioned that the group could decide to take “offensive” action if it believes armed conflict is imminent. [Emphasis added.]

. . . .

The Pakistan-based spiritual leader of Muslims of America (MOA), Sheikh Gilani, told top MOA officials (known as “khalifas”) to order all unarmed members to obtain firearms, licenses and hunting permits in order to resist raids on the group’s approximately 22 compounds that they expect to happen under the Trump Administration. Additional “security” was also called up and assault rifles have been mentioned as desirable.

The group now expects the FBI “to reopen its cases against them as a homegrown terrorist organization,” one of the confidential sources told Martin Mawyer of the Christian Action Network and Ryan Mauro of the Clarion Project.

The sources independently stated that members across the country were told of instructions from Sheikh Gilani to “be prepared to fight.” The message reportedly relayed to members was to “hear and obey,” using language identical to the oath of allegiance members sign when they join the group. He predicted, “You will be tested.” [Emphasis added.]

. . . .

MOA members have a long history of terrorism, extremism and criminal activity including weapons trafficking. A 2007 FBI report obtained by Ryan Mauro of the Clarion Project states:

“The documented propensity for violence by this organization supports the belief the leadership of the MOA extols membership to pursue a policy of jihad or holy war against individuals or groups it considers enemies of Islam, which includes the US Government.” [Emphasis added.]

It warned that MOA “possesses an infrastructure capable of planning and mounting terrorist campaigns within the U.S. and overseas.”

According to an article posted by The Clarion Project in 2013,

A secret Canadian intelligence report described al-Fuqra as a “militant Sufi sect” that believes “there is a Satanic Zionist conspiracy to destroy Islam and that the Fuqra is God’s chosen instrument to defeat the enemies of Islam.” Among those they say are complicit in the conspiracy are Jews, Hindus, other Muslims and the governments of the U.S. and Canada.[5] Gilani has said, “We are fighting to destroy the enemy. We are dealing with evil at its roots and its roots are America.”[6] He says that the “U.S. has become a pawn of hidden hands that use America’s wealth and the innocent blood of their sons and daughters to wage their wars against Muslims.[7] [Emphasisadded.]

MOA says it has 22 settlements across the United States.[8] A 2006 report for law enforcement put the number at above 35 and estimated that the organization has 3,000 members. It said that the organization is set up like “classically structured terrorist cells” and that Gilani is “now known as an international terrorist.” It said that at least seven of the communes are used for paramilitary training and that members are also sent to Pakistan for further instruction. [9]There are unconfirmed reports of members being trained in Sudan.[10]

A former high-level MOA operative that was a NYPD informant says that MOA also has set up operations in Trinidad, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Venezuela. He said that the paramilitary training is now only given to a select group. He describes MOA as being cult-like and said that most of the children are taught privately on its premises and are illiterate. He says he witnessed vicious punishments, including the beating of a 50-year old woman, for violating the strict moral code set by Gilani.[11] Two former female MOA members were interviewed by a filmmaker in 2011 and told stories of abuse, polygamy, forced marriages, brainwashing and terrorist activity.[12]

MOA believes that Gilani is a miracle-making representative of Allah. He claimed he exited his body to meet Jesus and the forthcoming Mahdi in 2009. Khalid Khawaja, a former pilot for Osama Bin Laden and a close friend of Gilani’s, says that “One white American [follower of Gilani’s] told me that there are thousands of people in America, who, if they are asked to cut off one limb so that they can stay with him, they are ready to do that.”

“If you push him to that stage, that he has no option but to declare jihad on America… it will blow like a volcano,” he said.[13]

He also said, “I am sure of one thing, Osama does not have even one of his followers as committed as Sheik Mubarak Gilani. Osama does not have even one as committed as the least of his people.”[14]

Gilani says that Jews are “an example of human Satans”[15] and that “I have never seen, in the whole of my life or even in the past thousand years, a Jew who will tell the truth.”[16] In making that case for Muslim-Christian relations, Gilani says, “the Jews tried to murder Jesus, son of Mary.”[17]

MOA believes that the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were part of a Satanic-Zionist conspiracy to wage war on Islam and stop Muslim-Christian unity. Gilani has referred to Osama Bin Laden as a “Saudi activist.”[18] MOA’s newspaper, the Islamic Post, praised Iranian President Ahmadinejad when he called for an independent investigation into 9/11 at the United Nations.[19]

The MOA also believes that evil “jinn beings” possess human beings. It says that the movies Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, The Exorcist and Harry Potter were part of “jinn” plots to corrupt minds and spread Satanic influence.[20]

Jamaat ul-Fuqra has a history of terrorist and criminal activity. At least a dozen members have been convicted and its members have been accused of involvement in at least 10 assassinations and 17 firebombings since 1980.[21]

A 2004 report funded by the Justice Department said that “members of the Fuqra group have raised money by taking advantage of a variety of social service programs, including worker’s compensation, public health care, welfare, and food stamps programs. Other crimes committed by Fuqra members include the creation and use of false identification cards, birth certificates, and other forged documents.”[22] The group recruits heavily from those with criminal backgrounds.[23] The group is also known to use security companies as fronts. [Emphasis added.]

A secret tape made by Gilani’s followers in Pakistan in the 1980s proves that the purpose of the camps in the U.S. is to facilitate paramilitary training. In the video, Gilani boasts of having “one of the most advanced training courses in Islamic military warfare” and invites interested Muslims to contact MOA offices in Pakistan or in several states in the U.S.

The film shows Gilani followers receiving the training and practicing the hijacking of vehicles, use of firearms, hand-to-hand combat, setting off explosives and other violent acts. In one scene, an instructor says, “Act like you are a friend, then kill him.”[24]

In 1989, the FBI raided a storage locker in Colorado Springs used by a Fuqra member and discovered weapons, explosives and plans for terrorist attacks, including the murder of Imam Rasad Khalifa in Arizona. He was a Muslim that was branded an apostate for his interpretations of the religion.[25] He was killed in 1990 exactly as the plans described.

The FBI discovered that the Fuqra members had to pledge, “I shall always hear and obey, and whenever given the command, I shall readily fight for Allah’s sake.”

The biggest Fuqra terror plot was attempted in 1991 and it aimed to kill 4,500 people. Five operatives tried to bomb a Hindu temple and an Indian cinema in the Toronto area during the Hindu Festival of Lights. The terrorists possessed a book authored by Gilani that says, “The mission of this Jamaat ul-Fuqra is to lead Muslims to their final victory over Communists, Zionists, Hindus and deviators.”[26]

In October 1992, law enforcement authorities shut down Fuqra’s 101-acre commune at Buena Vista and discovered that it was essentially a terrorist training camp financed through crime. A poem was found that reads, “Come join my troops and army/Says our Sheikh Gilani/Prepare to sacrifice your head/A true believer is never dead/Say ‘Victory is in the Air’/The kafir’s blood will not be spared.”[27]

One terrorist involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Clement Rodney Hampton, was a Fuqra member and had been trained by the group near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was convicted for his role in another campaign to bomb several New York City targets.

In December 1993, Sheikh Gilani reportedly attended a terrorist conference in Khartoum, Sudan. Among the groups represented were Hamas, Hezbollah, Egyptian Islamic Jihad and others. [28] Some reports say that Osama Bin Laden was present, a believable claim as he lived in the country at the time.[29]

In 2001, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and executed in Pakistan when he was on his way to interview Gilani. He has never been charged and denies involvement but says that Pearl was sent to assassinate him.

In 2009, Clarion Project National Security Analyst Ryan Mauro obtained two MOA tapes. One showed women training at its Islamberg headquarters in military fatigue. Only the first two digits in the on-screen date could be seen, indicating it was made in 2000 or afterwards. The trainees were seen marching in formation, practicing hand-to-hand combat, learning to use knives and swords and firing guns into a lake.

A second video showed MOA leaders declaring that the U.S. is a Muslim-majority country and vowing to defend it from foreign and domestic enemies. The speakers said they would never declare jihad on their country but “will not sit idly by and let our country be destroyed by this hidden hand.”[30]

In February 2010, Pakistan refused entry to two high-level MOA members.[31] It was reported in early 2010 by multiple sources that a large number of MOA members had suddenly moved out of their communes.

The current threat by Muslims of America must be taken seriously. Although many of their notions are loony, that makes them more, not less, dangerous.

Multiple confidential sources inside of a powerful jihadist group within the United States have informed the Christian Action Network and the Clarion Project that members have been told to arm themselves in anticipation of raids by the Trump Administration.

He predicted, “You will be tested.”

MOA, previously known as Jamaat ul-Fuqra, refers to its compounds as “Islamic villages,” with its headquarters in New York known as “Islamberg.” Clarion Project’s Ryan Mauro obtained footage of women getting guerilla training at the site, which was filmed in or around 2002. The group has a history of terrorist and criminal activity.

MOA members have a long history of terrorism, extremism and criminal activity including weapons trafficking. A 2007 FBI reportobtained by Ryan Mauro of the Clarion Project states:

“The documented propensity for violence by this organization supports the belief the leadership of the MOA extols membership to pursue a policy of jihad or holy war against individuals or groups it considers enemies of Islam, which includes the US Government.”

It warned that MOA “possesses an infrastructure capable of planning and mounting terrorist campaigns within the U.S. and overseas.”

Orders were also issued for members released on parole to stay off the compounds and to minimize associations with other MOA members that live on the lands. Many members are on parole for crimes like distributing drugs, running illegal guns, fraud and counterfeiting.

Because parole officers can enter homes or come onto properties without a search warrant, MOA officials are concerned that the presence of a parolee on their land could be used for intelligence-gathering and to find a pretext for a raid.

Multiple independent sources emphasized that MOA membership is not confined to the camps and reported a peculiar scattering of members into areas of the U.S. that previously had no MOA presence.

The sources warned that some MOA members have been in violent drug gangs, sometimes in a covert capacity where the gangs are not informed of their MOA ties. They express concern that non-MOA criminals could be utilized so as to minimize traces to the group.

A public statement by Sheikh Gilani published on November 14 appears peaceful, but these sources say that the wording has frightening implications that outsiders would fail to detect.

“I foretold the disastrous results should this man be elected as the American President. He has come as a test and trial for the faithful adherents of the holy books. There is no reason to cry, weep or despair over this current difficulty,” it reads.

Gilani is referring to his prophecies that a “tyrant” would take control of the White House during the End Times, shortly before an apocalyptic battle happens that ushers in final victory for Islam (as he interprets it).

MOA believes that this “Doomsday” will happen under the reign of Gilani’s successor, known as the 7th Sultan. Gilani is understood by members to be on the cusp of death. Sources reported last month that Gilani has transferred his title of “imam of MOA” to his son in the U.S., Sultan Ahmed Gilani, who may be separate from the prophetic 7th Sultan.

Khalifa Hussain Abdallah, known as “K1” within the group for his top ranking as an original founder, is said to be a key supervisor of these preparations for armed conflict.

The sources urged Mawyer and Mauro to be on alert, as MOA members believe they are responsible for the forthcoming crackdown. Law enforcement has been informed of the danger and should consider MOA the immediate suspect if any harm is done to them.

The Christian Action Network and Clarion Project challenge Sheikh Gilani to prove his alleged commitment to non-violence by publishing an unequivocal forbiddance of any violent action against Mawyer and Mauro by any MOA supporter under any circumstances.

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza has signed an executive order that he says is aimed at better protecting Muslim-American residents from discrimination.

The order, signed by the mayor Tuesday, establishes a new Muslim-American Advisory Board. The five-member volunteer panel will advise Elorza on policies that affect Muslim Americans in an effort to reinforce the city’s founding principles of religious freedom, Elorza said.

Elorza said the decision to establish the board came in response to Donald Trump’s election as president. During his campaign, the president-elect made mention of a ban on Muslim immigration and implementing a Muslim registry.

Trump and his aides have since walked back some of those comments, now saying he is focused on stronger vetting for immigrants from terror-prone nations. He recently appointed a National Security Adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn from Rhode Island, who has made controversial remarks against Islam. Elorza said he wants to ensure that Muslim Americans in Providence will be protected, regardless of what happens on the federal level.

“We’ve heard a lot, not only from the president-elect, but also from the folks that surround him, that really worry us and frankly, really frighten us,” the mayor said. “So that’s why it’s more important than ever that we come together at the local level.”

Monsurat Ottun, a Muslim-American Pawtucket resident, said Trump’s comments have caused concern in the local community. “Everyone is afraid,” Ottun said, adding that women who wear a hijab, or head covering, are particularly concerned because they are easily identifiable as Muslim by their attire. “It’s unfortunate that I’ve lived in this country my entire life, and I’ve never felt afraid like I do now.”

“I constantly have to watch my back everywhere I go,” she said.

Imam Mufti Ikram from the Masjid Al-Islam mosque in North Smithfield said he feels reassured by the mayor’s executive order, and hopes it sets an example for other cities.

“The cities across the nation are going to see a light, a hope for a community that is being bullied, that is being harassed by a lot of people,” Ikram said.

Another Imam, Muyideen Ibiyemi of the Muslim Community Center of Rhode Island, said his daughter was afraid to wear her hijab to school after the election. But he said there has also been a glimmer of hope; someone dropped off an anonymous card at MCCRI that read, “we are with you.”

Elorza’s order states that the panel was also created due to the “rash of hate crimes targeting minorities,” citing a statistic from the FBI that hate crimes against Muslims have increased nationwide by 67 percent since 2014.

Providence Police Maj. Oscar Perez vowed to enforce the law if hate crimes are perpetrated against Muslims in Providence.

“I want them to know that we support them,” Perez said. “If anybody decides to discriminate against anybody in the city…the city will prosecute to the extent of the law.”  A spokesperson for Providence Police said she hadn’t heard of any specific reports of local crimes against Muslims since the election.

The board will meet no less than twice a year and members will serve two-year terms. Elorza’s office said anyone interested in serving “should send a cover letter expressing interest and experience as well as a copy of their resume to mayor@providenceri.gov for review.”

This is the second announcement Elorza has made in anticipation of President-elect Trump’s administration. Last week, Elorza vowed to continue the city’s current policy of not referring undocumented immigrants who are not facing criminal charges to federal immigration officials. Elorza said he’ll make one announcement or hold one gathering each week to reinforce support for various groups in Providence before Inauguration Day.
