Iranian state TV carries report of Israeli build-up – – msnbc.com

Iranian state TV carries report of Israeli build-up – World news – Mideast/N. Africa – Iran – msnbc.com.

Iranian state television ran a report Monday saying Israeli military aircraft were massing at a U.S. air base in Iraq for a strike on Iran.

The report appeared on the website of Press TV. Israel said it had no knowledge of such a strike plan and Iraq’s air force commander denied the Iranian report.

Press TV quoted what it said was a source close to the movement of Moqtada al-Sadr, an Iraqi Shi’ite cleric who opposes the U.S. presence in Iraq and has close ties to Iran’s leaders.

Washington’s ally Israel accuses Tehran of using its declared civilian nuclear reactor program to conceal a plan to develop atomic bombs that would threaten the Jewish state. Israeli leaders have not ruled out military action against Iran.

However, there has been no recent indication of increased tensions and no other information Monday to corroborate the Iranian television report.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she had no knowledge of any such report and said the military did not comment on operational matters. Iraqi air force commander Staff Lieutenant General Anwar Ahmed rejected the report as “groundless.”

“The al-Asad base (mentioned by Press TV) exists on Iraqi territory. We can never accept launching any military attack against any of the neighboring countries, whether Iran or any other country, from Iraqi lands,” he told Reuters.

The United States and its Western allies suspect Iran is using its nuclear energy program as a cover to build bombs. Iran denies the allegation, insisting it needs nuclear technology to generate more electricity.

Iran has repeatedly warned that it would strike Israeli nuclear targets if Israel attacked its nuclear activities.

Iran does not recognize Israel, which it calls the “Zionist regime.” Israel, believed to be the only nuclear-armed country in the Middle East, bombed Iraq’s only nuclear reactor to rubble in 1981 when Saddam Hussein was in power in Baghdad.

“We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood,” Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas administration in the Gaza Strip, told reporters.

Though he noted doctrinal differences between bin Laden’s al-Qaida and Hamas, Haniyeh said: “We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We ask God to offer him mercy with the true believers and the martyrs.”

Haniyeh’s reported comments came following an earlier remark by a Palestinian Authority spokesman who said Monday the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces was “good for the cause of peace,”

“Getting rid of Bin Laden is good for the cause of peace worldwide but what counts is to overcome the discourse and the methods — the violent methods — that were created and encouraged by Bin Laden and others in the world,” PA spokesman Ghassan Khatib said.

The PA’s comments came following an announcement by U.S. President Barack Obama late Sunday, saying that bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader who masterminded the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States is dead and the U.S. had recovered his body,

Representatives from Hamas and Fatah announced last week their intention to reconcile, after a four-year-long bitter and at times violent rift, which saw Hamas administering the Gaza Strip and the West Bank under the control of the Fatah dominated Palestinian Authority.

Palestinian officials said on Friday that Egypt has invited Palestinian leaders to Cairo for the signing of the reconciliation agreement which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

Obama declares bin Laden killed in firefight with US forces.

Washington D.C. —- May 1, 2011 …… US President Barack Obama has just announced that 9/11 terror attack mastermind, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, was killed by US special forces in Pakistan.

“Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Usama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda,” said President Obama.

Obama said bin Laden was not a Muslim leader, but a “mass murderer of Muslims.” The President said bin Laden was captured with the help of Pakistani intelligence.

Bin Laden was killed, along with other members of his family in a mansion outside Islamabad.

Diplomats in Israel congratulate the US President and the people of the free world in this victory of democracy over Islamic Jihad.

After reports of repeated initial denials, in 2004 Usama bin Laden claimed responsibility for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The Islamic terror attacks involved the hijacking of four US commercial passenger aircraft, the subsequent destruction of those planes and the World Trade Center in New York City, New York, severe damage to The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the deaths of 2,974 people and the nineteen hijackers.

In response to the 9/11 terror attacks, the US launched a War on Terror to depose the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and capture al-Qaeda operatives, and several countries strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation to preclude future attacks. The CIA’s Special Activities Division was given the lead in tracking down and killing or capturing bin Laden.

Israel security analysts state that bin Laden death will have a direct affect on Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah operations.

“US Special Forces are to be complimented for having conducted a precise operation in killing bin Laden, without losing any of their own forces or any innocent civilians,” said the security analyst.”Islamic Jihad has just lost a few more men to virgins in heaven. This is a day for every democracy, every peace loving Muslim, Jew and Christian to celebrate and embrace. But we must remember that the war on terrorism is not yet over. The present government of Iran is doing all they can to create nuclear weapons to use against Israel, Europe and the US. We can smile about bin Laden, but must not lose focus that Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sworn to wipe Israel off the map. Israel will continue to take every measure to insure the security of the people of Israel and all citizens of the free, democratic world.”

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: “This is a resounding triumph for justice, freedom and the values shared by all democratic nations fighting shoulder to shoulder in determination against terrorism.”

Israel President Shimon Peres applauded the killing of Osama bin Laden, saying that it was a great achievement for the US defense establishment, US President Barack Obama and the free world.

“Bin Laden was one of the biggest murderers in history and he received his sentence,” said Peres. “The world can breathe a sigh of relief at seeing the punishment he received, despite the fact that justice was late in coming.”

The news reaches Israel as the Jewish nation marks Holocaust Memorial Day.

Hizballah prepares to pull its heavy missiles from Syrian safekeeping

Syrian army tank in Daraa

The Lebanese Shiite Hizballah has obviously decided the Assad regime is sinking. debkafile‘s military sources report the organization is preparing to pull its heavy, long-range weapons out of storage in Syrian military facilities – no longer sure they are safe there – and risk transporting them to Lebanon.

Last year, Syrian President Bashar Assad agreed to store Hizballah’s incoming Iran-made Fatah-110 surface missiles and its Syrian equivalent the M-600 and the mobile SA-8 (Gecko) anti-air battery which holds 18 warheads with a maximum range of 12 kilometers. Tehran paid for the upkeep of the Hizballah hardware on Syrian side of the border after Israel threatened to bomb these potential game-changers if they crossed over.

Deployed at Hizballah bases in Lebanon, the Fatah-110 and M-600 would place almost every corner of Israel within range of bombardment, while the SA-8 would seriously restrict Israeli Air Force operations over southern Lebanon and Galilee.
However, as the uprising against Assad rolls ever closer to Damascus, Hizballah see a very real threat of it infecting the Syrian army and has decided that now might be its last chance to get hold of the core arsenal it has standing by for war with Israel before events get out of hand in Syria.

Hizballah’s headquarters in Dahya, Beirut, became alarmed when they heard about strong resentment building up in the Syrian 11th Division over the Assad crackdown against the dissidents – among officers as well as other ranks.
The 11th Division, which is camped outside Aleppo, is the best trained and organized of all Syrian army units, equipped as its strategic reserve with the most advanced weaponry. If the unrest has reached this elite unit, Hizballah reckons there is no time to losing for pulling its missiles out of Syrian military safekeeping.

Meanwhile, top Hizballah and Iranian offices in Tehran are working on the best way to transport the missiles into Lebanon without exposing them to Israeli attack, debkafile‘s Iranian sources report. Some of them calculate that Israel would not venture to strike them while still on Syrian soil because it would lay itself open to interfering, or even getting in the way of, the revolt against President Assad and playing into his hands.

A security emergency might well take the wind out of protest movement’s sails.
But already, Tehran’s Lebanese surrogate is beginning to distance itself from Bashar Assad, its longtime strategic partner and arms supplier, having decided he has his back to the wall.  April 28, the Hizballah-controlled Lebanese Al Akhbar newspaper started criticizing the Assad regime on its op-ed pages.

What America needs to learn from Israel and the horrors of the Holocaust

What America needs to learn from Israel and the horrors of the Holocaust – National Christianity & Politics | Examiner.com.

Prime Minister Netanyahu prepares for weekly cabinet meeting

The demand rages on regarding Israel surrendering about half of their nation to the Palestinians.  But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pointed out something rather interesting that the U.S. desperately needs to learn before it’s too late.  During a Yad VaShem memorial ceremony for Jews who died in the Holocaust, he admonished his people that they must remain mindful of the things that they have learned as a result of the holocaust. On Sunday, Israel National News quoted him as saying that, “The most important lesson is that if someone threatens to annihilate us, we must not ignore his threats. Has the world learned this lesson? I doubt it. Have we learned it? I believe so. But in the history of the Nation of Israel, we have not always excelled at prescience. On occasion, we repressed the reality that faced us.”

Israel is not the only nation that seems to have difficulty facing such a reality.  The U.S. is in something of a parallel with Israel.  One specific example to be considered would be the threats of Iran’s President Ahmadinejad.  Not only has he said that he wants to wipe out Israel, but he has also made plain his interest in wiping out the United States.  He isn’t the only Muslim extremist with such a focus, as the 9-11 attack would be another example of Muslim extremists that wanted to annihilate us.  If anyone remembers, that was the point of the attack. And the same can be said of the underwear bomber, the Fort Hood massacre and any other situation in which a suicide bomber was acting out their jihadist intentions.

A second lesson that Netanyahu brought out may actually be a more important one for America at this time in our history: “The next lesson comes from knowing that attacks upon our nation were always preceded by acts of hatred.”  Just as the Jews have been and still are blamed for the troubles of the world, the U.S. is also blamed.  While we sometimes deserve that blame, it’s funny how no one seems to notice that the U.S. has had a history of being a first responder to assist nations facing calamity – such as Haiti when they had their earthquake to name a recent example.  Our nation has flourished as a capitalist nation in the past, and this plus our original willingness to honor God are two main reasons why we became a superpower on the world scene.  The prosperity and freedom that we experience are two of the very things that cause us to be hated by others in the global community.

Hamas has made it clear through Washington style spin that they have no intention of accepting much less recognizing Israel as a state or nation.  According to the Jerusalem Post, when senior Hamas official Mahmoud Zahar was questioned about the two groups sharing the land, Zahar replied, “The question is whether Israel is ready to accept the Palestinian state. Is Israel ready to accept the right of the Palestinian people to come back to their homeland?”

He went on to refer to such a question as an “imaginary” one that, “will not be answered.”

ChristianPastor Michael Youssef, who is probably best known for his international radio program Leading the Way was born and raised in Egypt. In an article that he wrote which appeared at One News Now, he claims that during his boyhood, Egypt was very tolerant of other religions. His most recent visit to his boyhood home, however, revealed to him that, “the peace and security of Egypt have been shaken. Radical, fundamentalist Islam is grabbing for power in Egypt. The radicalization of Egypt was vividly illustrated for me during my most recent visit to the Mediterranean resort city of Alexandria. There, men and women still go to the beach as they did when I was a boy — but now they do so in full Islamic garb.”

He went on to note that, “For decades, anti-Western, anti-Israel, anti-Christian militancy has been on the rise across the Muslim world. Radical Islam is being inculcated in young Arab minds through Wahhabi madrasas. We are seeing the fruit of radical Islamic education in Egypt in the growing persecution of religious minorities.”

This is not limited to Egypt.  Back in October, A World Net Daily article on Thursday reported that, “International Christian Concern Islam watcher Jonathan Racho says that the increasingly large Western European Muslim community is growing in militancy as well as in numbers.

Racho stated that, “If you go to places like the U. K. and France, some cities in Sweden and Holland, you can already see some cities where Muslims are very significant because of their numbers.”

“In the U. K. there are some places where there are so many Muslims [that] non-Muslims can’t go there. They are called ‘no-go’ areas for non-Muslims. Because of this, human rights violations are happening. We have reported attacks on Christians in a neighborhood in the U. K. Evangelists were stopped by the police for preaching the Gospel. The Muslim policeman stopped them and said they couldn’t preach in that area,” he said.

Racho added that, “There’s been some scary situations. I’m not trying to be alarmist, but I’m just stating the facts. The situation is really bad for Christians in some areas where Muslims are now in the majority in Europe.”

When Ahmadinejad denied the Holocaust in a room full of UN delegates back in September of 2009, Netanyahu first defended the reality of that horrific time in history with copies of 1942 Nazi meeting minutes, concentration camp constructions plans, and Nazi death plans for the Jews in hand.  He went on to passionately proclaim the rhetorical questions, “Are these protocols lies?  Are the successive German governments that have kept these documents for posterity all liars?”

Then in a rather stern warning that bears remembering, he said to the General Assembly, “Perhaps some of you think this man [Ahmadinejad] and his odious regime only threaten the Jews.  Well if you think that, you are wrong, dead wrong.  What starts as attacks on Jews always ends up engulfing others…This regime embodies the extremes of Islamic fundamentalism.”

May God be merciful to the U.S. in that both citizens and leaders may quickly learn, as Netanyahu so wisely put it, “if someone threatens to annihilate us, we must not ignore his threats.”  Because if both citizens and leaders don’t understand that, we’ll never understand the third lesson Netanyahu brought out, which could very well lead to our demise as a nation: “We cannot leave it to others to decide our fate. Relations with the world’s countries are very important to us, but if we do not defend ourselves, no one will stand beside us.”
