Netanyahu alludes to Trump’s plan: It’s a big day for ‘our historic, national identity’
As more and more countries are voicing concern over US President Donald Trump’s expected announcement that the US is recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the Israeli Prime Minister is implying that the move will validate Israel’s historic and national identity.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Israel’s national identity is receiving a “strong validation,” alluding to US President Donald Trump’s expected announcement that the US is recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Netanyahu added that he will address the issue more thoroughly later in the day.
“I showed a few slides that presented the great achievements of Israeli diplomacy,” Netanyahu told his viewers. “You could see that these diplomats knew it and wanted to be a part of it.”
“Our national and historic identity is getting some strong validations, mainly today,” Netanyahu added, but refrained from referring specifically to Trump’s move. “I will obviously have something to add to that later today regarding Jerusalem.”
