Retired Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney thinks the United States should “go to DEFCON 1, our highest state of readiness and be prepared as we lead up to 9/11.”
McInerney made the comment Saturday in an appearance with Uma Pemmaraju on Fox News Channel’s “America’s News HQ.”
“We may even see a 9/11/14,” he added.
“There’s a narrative gap,” McInerney said in response to Pemmaraju’s questions about border security and domestic threats from Islamic State. “The president thinks everything’s OK. Al-Qaida’s dead. He killed Osama bin Laden, but he’s three years behind in the narrative.”

The Air Force veteran called an “unchecked” Islamic State “an existential threat to the United States.”
“I’m not talking about two or three years from now,” he said. “I’m talking very, very soon.”

McInerney still has not made his case. All the ‘scare’ talk in the world is not going to get the American public behind him. Listen closely to what he is saying. Does he know something specific or is he inferring something of which he knows nothing? You decide. Still, to me, not enough to make me want to send our young and brave men and women into the ‘meat grinder’ once again.

Agree LS. I the believe the good General might be alluding to a planted nuke or dirty bomb in a major US city. IF that were to occur all hell would break loose. Anything short of that, well, let the Europeans take care of it.

The US has never gone to defcon 1 ever. The highest ever called for was defcon 2 during the Cuban missile crisis.

You are absolutely correct JP. What the hell does he know? If what he knows is so deadly, shouldn’t we be told to prepare?
Defcon 1 is defined as:
“COCKED PISTOL – Nuclear war is imminent – Maximum readiness.”
So what is the average guy in the US supposed to do?….put his head between his knees and kiss his butt goodbye?
These so called elites who are ‘in-the-know’ with all their anonymous sources, inside info, and take-my-word for it mentality are pissing me off.

I’ve seen theses over reaction to events before, especially after 911. In my estimation nothing to lose sleep over.
The US took on Japan and Germany at the same time, two of the fiercest military forces ever assembled and beat them. Who the hell is ISIS? I’ll tell you who, a bunch of towel heads running around with machine guns on the back of pickup truck terrorizing the indigenous population.
The US if need be could fuck them up in a couple of weeks.
The only will card would be nukes.
