Israel on Saturday dismissed as “irrelevant” reports that Iran had halted its most sensitive uranium enrichment activity, and said Tehran’s nuclear program must be dismantled.

A senior member of Iran’s parliamentary national security commission was quoted as saying Iran had stopped refining uranium above the 5% required for civilian power stations, as it already had all the 20% enriched fuel it needed for a medical research reactor in Tehran.

But diplomats accredited to the UN nuclear watchdog said they had no confirmation Iran had halted enrichment of uranium to 20% – a sensitive issue because it is a relatively short technical step to increase that to the 90% needed to make a nuclear warhead.

“The discussion on whether or not Iran has ceased 20% enrichment is irrelevant,” said an Israeli official.

Israel fears its arch enemy Iran is developing atomic weapons capability, and has hinted it could attack the Islamic republic to prevent it from getting the bomb. Iran says its nuclear activities are entirely peaceful.

“Even if Iran stopped 20% enrichment, it is still equipped with advanced centrifuges that allow it to go from a level of 3.5% enrichment to a military grade 90% within a few weeks,” the official added.

World powers seeking a diplomatic solution to the nuclear dispute with Iran want it to stop enrichment. Iran indicated in talks that resumed in Geneva last week that it might scale back its program to win sanctions relief.

Israel, believed to be the Middle East’s only atomic power, says Iran must be stripped of enrichment capabilities.

“The international community must ensure the complete dismantling of the Iranian military nuclear program, and until then sanctions must be stepped up,” said the Israeli official.

Western officials have said Iran must stop enriching uranium to 20%, increase the transparency of its nuclear program, reduce its uranium stocks and take other steps to reassure the world that it is not after nuclear weapons.

Iran and six world powers – the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany – said that this month’s talks in Geneva were positive and constructive.

Negotiations are due to resume there on November 7-8.

The meeting was the first since Iranian President Hassan Rohani came to office in August promising to try to resolve the nuclear dispute and secure an easing of sanctions that have severely damaged Iran’s oil-dependent economy.

It’s clear that Iran is using every delaying tactic in the book. It’s also clear that no one wants to start the next Great War. So, who’s going to blink first. The Mullahs truly believe the are following Allah’s wish, so it won’t be them. For the West Israel is the canary in the cage. No need to worry as long as the canary is still singing!

In the long run, Israel will lose the game, so better act now, even that the international legit for an attack is dropping exponentially.
Better now, when is bad, than later, when it will be impossible.

Israel as mighty as it is has already missed the boat. Time for containment.

    • Luis's avatar Luis Says:

I shouldn’t say that. Its still possible to act, but not as some sorry pussies. Enter fast, strike hard, strike deep and go out fast. Israel can do that whenever it desires. The problem is, the time for that is now. Does Bibi & comp have the balls to take that decision?
Because, from the military point of view, all the plans and the assets are in place. What we are missing here is the ”go” order.

      • Mark's avatar Mark Says:

Luis, I agree there is time left, but the fact that some folks now feel it’s too late is another sign of how short time is.

I feel the November talks in less than 2 weeks are Iran’s last chance. When these talks fail just like all the ones in the past, Netanyahu will have to act or he’ll lose all credibility.

        • Luis's avatar Luis Says:

He(Bibi) should act before or in the middle of those talks for achieving the surprise element. Or, better tomorrow. Its clear for all that this an embarrassment for all the parties involved. Even the Iranians are embarrassed. The Israelis promised to visit them and, up to this moment, nothing. Not good.

          • Mark's avatar Mark Says:

Not that I disagree with you that it would be nice to see action immediately but I feel like Israel has long ago given up whatever surprise element might have existed.

I’m sure the Iranians are going in shifts around the clock at their highest alert level now.

          • Luis's avatar Luis Says:

You are absolutely right. When I said ”better be now” I gave expression to a sensation of frustration because of the incapacity of my government – the Israeli government – to take a decision for a long time, already. And today? What can I say…Bibi should act in the spirit and planning we already have discussed here, but he wont do that. That is the way that I feel. He is still waiting for a miracle. Netanyahu is a very hesitant man. He speaks great but do little in this regard. The Iranians are also knowing this, if we here are knowing that already. He is capable of a surprise ? Yes, he might surprise them, eventually. The question – The Question – is : When?

Iran promises to wipe Israel off the map. Wouldn’t an Israeli attack give the Iranians perfect cover to launch an all out assault on Israel coming from multiple locations. Due to Israeli reticence, Iran has had years to build its missile assault. Let’s look at some facts. It took the US weeks of air assaults to take down Iraqi forces. Israel would be taking on just as large a foe with a fraction of the US assets used on Iran.
Israel was not able to subdue Hamas of Hezbollah. How will the IDF take on and subdue Iran and its proxy armies. I keeping hearing about hard and fast and dark ages. But all I’ve seen is reticences and futility.

        • Luis's avatar Luis Says:

John, I’ll rather look at the situation from this perspective: first, we’ll shutdown their power grid(electricity). Remember? Strike between the eyes. No electricity, no missiles. Ah, and no toilets, also. Secondly, a multiple salvo of Jericho II-III, launched directly to priority sites – their silos and missile launch sites, included. This will be the kick in the balls strike. Say, didn’t we were all over this yesterday? Hm…. If played correctly, not only that Iran will not be in a position to react, but the Iranian state institutions and infrastructure will collapse. Don’t forget, John: 1-2, the dance: strike between the eyes and kick their balls. Very simple. Keep asking me if something doesn’t make sense to you. Always glad to help and answer, Luis.

…ah, and one more thing : don’t compare the US war on Iraq with the Israeli operation in Iran.

We don’t want to occupy those bitches, neither want we to bring them the light of democracy. No, no. We are more modest in our goals: we want that no toilets to be available for the ayatollahs to take a shit after been scared to death after this operation.

We also want to boost their trade with candles. They will need them badly after all this circus will be finished. Regards.

Sounds clean and simple, but with the fog of war, nothing is ever clean an simple. I’m not as sanguine about the chances and outcome of such an event. Let’s cross our fingers and hope Bibi does something, and that it’s as clean and simple as you hope.

    Fact One And Fact Two

Once again the media, which knows nothing, refers to “refining” uranium to a certain percent. These people, in fact the whole world, know NOTHING. Refining means to remove from uranium ore all impurities such as sand and other minerals. Even after uranium has been REFINED to yellow cake, which is a yellow powder made of uranium oxide, or even if it is refined to pure uranium metal with the oxygen removed, it still has to be ENRICHED. This is because even pure uranium is made of multiple isotopes, that is, varieties, of uranium. All uranium atoms have 92 protons in the nucleus, which is what makes uranium uranium. But each can have a varying number of neutrons. The number of neutrons normally don’t affect the behavior of a metal. But in the case of a very heavy metal like uranium, which has an unstable nucleus, the number of neutrons in the nucleus affects its stability.

Protons and neutrons are collectively called “baryons,” which is just a fancy term for “protons and neutrons.” You may have seen in Star Trek episodes reference to “baryonic radiation.” That means protons and/or neutrons. In the case of uranium, a nucleus with 238 baryons, called uranium-238, or u-238, the most common uranium isotope or variety, is radioactive. A very tiny percentage of uranium in nature is uranium-235, with 235 baryons. U-235 is very VERY radioactive. An atom bomb needs nearly pure u-235 to set off a nuclear explosion.

You can’t separate these atoms with a tweezers. You need the additional processing step of ENRICHMENT, not to be confused with REFINEMENT. In enrichment, first the oxygen is chemically stripped off the uranium oxide, and the uranium is then combined with fluorine atoms, six of them for every uranium atom, producing a chemical called uranium hexafluoride. (First they make uranium tetrafluoride, which has four fluorine atoms and then they add two more to make uranium hexafluoride.)

What is important about uranium hexafluoride? Uranium hexafluoride is a gas. So atom bomb makers can put that in a spinning centrifuge, a kind of suped up version of a blood centrifuge in a doctor’s office. These uranium centrifuges are tall cylinders that spin the uranium hexafluoride gas at near supersonic speed to separate out and concentrate the tiny amount of u-235 from the u-238. The more this separation process progresses the more ENRICHED the material is said to be.

At 90 or 93 percent enriched the uranium hexafluoride is then chemically stripped of fluorine and what is left is nearly pure uranium-235 solid metal from which an atom bomb can be made. It only takes a few pounds of pure u-235 to make an atom bomb.

The world still has no clue what enrichment is, even though it is all over Wikipedia. This is an example of the ignorance that drives all the foolhardy negotiations with Iran.

The Iranians keep insisting they need their nuclear program for peaceful purposes. This is what is called “dual use technology.” The most famous case of dual use technology was the infamous I. G. Farben German munitions conglomerate. They cornered the world market on artificial textile dyes and had all the factories transported to Germany. By a quirk of chemistry the same factories can easily be retooled so that almost the same chemicals and equipment can be used to make TNT for military explosive, bombs. I.G. Farben did the same thing with many other dual use technologies. When WWI and WWII broke out, the Germans were ready to switch from civilian manufacturing to war manufacturing almost instantly and the rest of the world was not. This is the infamous legacy of dual use technology and it is why the whole issue of what Iran is doing is so dangerous, even if they were not actively trying to construct an atom bomb, WHICH THEY ARE.

The world has forgotten, the world is completely ignorant of such things and doesn’t even know the difference between refining and enriching uranium. But who DOES know about all these things? The IRANIANS. They are actually boasting about it all on Iranian TV. ISIS, the Institute for Science and International Security, which now says IRAN IS JUST WEEKS FROM A BOMB, has actually translated this Iranian TV report. (See below.) Meanwhile, the US, Europe and EVEN NETANYAHU do nothing but TALK TALK TALK. Bibi keeps hoping he can turn all the Jew-haters of the world into nice Jewish accountants with a nice Reform quickie conversion, instead of bombing Iran. This article quotes an Israeli official saying “The discussion on whether or not Iran has ceased 20 percent enrichment is irrelevant” because Iran now has powerful new centrifuges that can enrich uranium from 3.5 percent directly to 90 percent bomb grade in a single quick step. He is correct. But the real problem is that discussion is irrelevant even by ISRAELI OFFICIALS ISSUING STATEMENTS. All that matters is bombing Iran WHICH BIBI STILL IS NOT DOING and seems INCAPABLE of doing without permission from his mother, MOMMA OBAMA.

Following is the Iran TV report, translated by ISIS. Iran is building an atom bomb while the rest of the world is still reading “The How And Why Wonder Book Of Atomic Energy” children’s book. The fact that the world, including Netanyahu, are still quibbling over military and peaceful uses of the atom, shows a complete ignorance of the treacherous history of dual use technology. The same exact technology Iran is building for “peaceful purposes” can almost instantly be switched over to make an atom bomb. Here is the ISIS-translated Iranian TV report. For the world nuclear knowledge is a very PRIVATE matter. But the Iranians are boasting about it all over their TV screens. Understand. What this video implicitly shows, NO CRYING OUT, is Iran boasting that it is getting an atom bomb:

    Part 2:

  4. Time for containment.
Does Bibi wait for the Chinese to invade Iran?

“Iran rightly considers the U.S. as its greatest security threat in the near-term. Given America’s desire to scale back its presence in the Middle East, and the possibility of an U.S.-Iranian rapprochement on the horizon, China’s expansion in the Middle East ultimately poses the greatest threat to Iran over the long term. The U.S. will undoubtedly share Iran’s concern with Beijing’s more assertive Middle East policy, and this could be an additional impetus for them to put aside their bitter rivalry.

Regardless if that occurs or not, it is clear that as China seeks to deepen its presence in the Middle East, it will increasingly have to contend with Iran.”

As an expression of the new trend, Germany is entering in the dangerous game of pushing (politically) Israel into a corner. By making such a threats ( see the article which link is here) Germany is also announcing that its politics will be independent of the US, because, you see, in the past such things would be unimaginable.
However, with Israel and the US in such a shitty relations, Germany is feeling itself free to kick Israel in the butt, also. The article that I’m
    talking about is : http://www.albawaba.com/news/un-israel-529280

However, no matter how much Merkel was insulted by 0bama’s NSA bugs, the relations between Germany and Israel were supposed to be ”special”. When I’m using the word ”special” I’m trying to be polite and ”wordly correct”, otherwise I should write something like ” those shitty fucking former Nazis had forgotten that millions and millions of germans voted and saluted our beloved Adolf and weren’t give a shit when millions of jews were killed and burned all over Europe by their own government. And they saw the jews beaten in the streets, and they saw the jews house been taken from their legit owners. The germans saw all these and didn’t do anything about that. Actually, they did something: they moved in those houses. So, Merkel, shut the fuck up and pay attention. You think that some nuclear subs will do the trick? No, ma Cherie. Your debt is far beyond that. Be cool and be quiet. And, when talking about Israel, stand up. Not because of you have the Children of Israel their Home back. The Nazis had other plans but here we are today, because of the Hand of God.”

But, hey, who the hell are we to tell them how and from where to attack the Iranians? Keep the good work, brothers Sunnis, and give a hard time to those bitches. If all will go accordingly to the plan, the coffee its on me.

  9. Luis's avatar Luis Says:

As the rift between the USA and the Saudi Arabia is expanding, we’ll witness a new phenomena in our region : the political freelancers.
For years, Israel followed the US lead – politically and military – in the region. Now, in the light of the ”new” US politics in the region, Israel might get the message and act alone. In fact, its PM said just that. The Saudis’ indignation is at maximum, while Saudis aristocrats are openly criticizing Obama, accusing him, practically to be a coward in the Syrian crisis and the Iranian problem. So, paradoxically and yet naturally, the Israelis and the Saudis are finding themselves in the same boat. An open pact between these two sides is a political abomination from the Saudis part, yet they might cooperate with the Israelis in the most discrete fashion. An Iranian regional power signed on a treaty with the Americans and having also the Russian support might be a regional monster with a very high appetite. In that case, the Saudis will find themselves very alone facing such an Iran; the Saudis don’t want to reach such days, so their only hope now might be the Israelis. How the ultra secret pact – if any – between those two parties will work and what will be its fruits – militarily – remain to be seen. A fact is absolutely sure: the Saudis backup for an Israeli action in Iran will be as strong as the operation in Iran will be, meaning more decisive Israeli action there, more backup from the Saudis will be in and even after the operation. [In our particular discussions with friends, we reach the conclusion that Israel should act already from finding a path to a political alliance with the Saudis, making some political concessions which might represent a good pretext for the Saudis to approach the Israelis in an officially fashion]

We think you might be correct David, but we pray that you are incorrect and Bibi will either use EMP or use the technology carbon fibre devices ammo which,

after been delivered, can paralyze (shutdown) the electrical power grid, this has been around for many years now, and it is a really good idea.

It was really good information one of the writers on this blog Luis mentioned.

The carbon fibre device ammo does the same thing as EMP without having to use nuclear explosion.

We read some of the things you wrote and you seem to be very knowledgable about nuclear refinement, the science, and the technical details surrounding it.

Do you think the carbon fibre device ammo will work?

And will either The carbon fibre device ammo, or EMP affect nuclear weapons research and production facillities underground, or under mountains, because we think it won’t.

And maybe Iran can still make nuclear explosives of all types and weapons with self contained electricity producing facilities under mountains,

and maybe still shoot the missiles.

What do you think David, and Luis, and any of the other writers.

    Thanks, Smiley.
