Victory for What’s Right

( The first Iran/Israel video I edited – Nov. 7, 2009 )

The appeal I made for support a week ago has resulted in 11 contributions.

This out of the thousands who regularly view the site.

As I tried to make clear, it was important to me to find out how many people really cared about the site in order to justify to myself the continuing effort required to keep it going after four years.  ( The “give a shit” factor, if you will.)

Eleven contributors does not make the grade.  Ten times as many would give me pause.

The site will go dark after this Friday, the 11th of October.  All who donated now will receive refunds.

If there’s an unexpected groundswell in contributions before then, I might reconsider.  Otherwise all donations received will be refunded.

NOTE:

When and if actual hostilities begin the site may become active again.

G’day Joseph and your many readers,

I have been a lurker, and not (much) of a contributor for some time, but…

I would like to strongly encourage the many who visit/read/contribute to this blog to make a contribution in recognition of Joseph’s hard work.

He does a fantastic job and the time and stress involved in keeping this blog up to date is very worthy of appreciation via donation.

And let’s not forget that the blog topic (“the Israel/Iran war”) is of crucial, global importance. We could very well be at a turning point (either for the good, or – hopefully not – towards the diabolical) in recent human history.

Joseph has been on to this for several years now – ahead of the curve so to speak. It would be a shame if, through lack of appreciation (and thus encouragement) he were to decide to not continue just as things are heating up.

So again, everyone, just send Joseph a token of your appreciation, and hopefully this excellent blog will see it through the forthcoming conflict…

    Proud to fight for Israel!

    David.

Dear Joseph, please tell me how to send you a check,I dont like
paying with credit card. If I were a rich man, I certainly would give you a huge sum, no doubt. Your site is the best I found on the web and I hope very much that someone with a big wallet will support your great work !
Dear Joseph, the fight you are fighting is the right one and you achieved a lot, no doubt ! Never be discouraged whatsoever happens ! We are with the winning team – with Israel ! Thats because HE who has created this amazing universe has commited himself eternally to his beloved people, the nation of Israel ! As I see it, the jewish scriptures are the only reliable and trustworthy thing on this pretty weird world ….”HE who watches over Israel NEVER slumbers nor sleeps!”

  4. After years of unemployment I cannot pay you so much but I pay you a small amount every month instead.

    Keep up the good work!

O modern material meritocratic middle-class midcult man – cause and effect of
    the profound dialectic
    of the invisible hand,
    O truly synthetic:
    single-minded, well-meaning
at one with the world you are in,
let me apply to you, show me how to belong – how to be like you,
always above me, always there to be seen,
your inexhaustible excellence filling our screens.
To be at one! – with the classless elites, media-millionaire men in the streets, educated from a Russell Group College in all skills and relevant knowledge, processes, procedures,
that led and still lead you,
    to please and progress
    to adapt for success
to lead you to lead us,
    educate, educate, educate me,
to your style of correctness and unction, admit me to shine in the laureate-function.
    May I fashion one sentence,
    to lead to acceptance,
this CV of a he who wants to believe in
    your mode of being,
    construct you this ode,
    as required
for selection from those who aspire
like you, to be part of it all, always active, untired, by so many admired –
to rise with you, higher and higher,
    in Promethean fire.
    Ah, but my genial spirit
fails, minute by minute, there’s something about me
I know’ll make you doubt me, suspect me, and flout me
it is hard to get anything
right in these times, when we sing:
to spend day after day doing this
    sort of thing,
hope against hope – O what must I be I plead, will you tell me.
    I falter, I fail,
    I cannot prevail,
this poet in despondency can only guess,
at what it is to be best
    to arise and give pleasure
by your standards of curriculum* and measure, be published and popular –
from bottom to top: you are
the only one who can help me,
    I know it,
to be your own People’s Poet
    conform to the norm,
of what I should try to perform:
inform me of, please send me the form,
    for I throb
    for the job,
one of your own, with you, in our home-
land of the Wheel and the Dome.

      All That There Is

      All That There Is
      September 14, 2011

The past is behind us. The future’s a hope.

The present is where we both stumble and grope.

What are we, really? Why are we here?

Is there some purpose in guilt, shame and fear?

Is pain everlasting which we must evade?

Is joy just some concept of “making the grade?”

The truth seems too subtle for us to discern.

We’re lost in our lies and our myths which we learn.

      From our parents, our spouses, our kids who declare;

We’re here to support them and show them we care.

We ride with the lies and the myths that we see,

Instead of resolving the problem of “me.”

You’re more than an addict; you’re more than a job.

      You’re more than a husband, a father, a blob

Of meat skin and sinews attached to your bones.

You’re more than your thoughts or your art or your tones.

You’re more than all things that you might bring to mind.

You’re more than your searching allows you to find.

      We struggle and watch our life pass in a whiz;

Without ever knowing we’re all that there is…

Joseph, I donated several times in the past. Your request just passed me by, I am afraid all the Obama mess put me in a place where I am someway reluctant to read news, most of the times bad news.
Please, don’t shut down your site: it is important, all the work you do is important. Don’t close it.

    Joseph,

I stumbled across your site about a year ago and have checked it everyday since. I earnestly wait for the day when there will be peace in Jerusalem but in the meantime I love reading your take on things and find your perspective most illuminating.
While you may not be recompensed fairly for all your work that in no way diminishes it value or its affect on your readers.
Remember what Ezekiel said about the watchman who doesn’t sound the alarm? You are the watchman Joseph and please keep sounding the alarm….

  10. Louisiana Steve's avatar Louisiana Steve Says:

JW, I seriously thought I could walk away and call it a done deal with your blog. Thinking of my own experience as a blogger, I understood your plight. But then, I began to think (it happens sometimes). What was my blog? A political commentary? Yes, somewhat. A ‘what grinds my gears’ emotional outlet? Yes, pretty much. A matter of life and death? No, not really. Just another rant, I guess.

And then I thought, what was JW’s blog? And it struck me. It was none of this foolishness. It was, in effect, a call to arms, a cry for help, and a declaration of resolve all rolled up into one. Clearly more consequential than my former, ‘Fried Green Blog’. Because of this, I think this is what attracted me to ‘Warsclerotic’ in the first place. It was a real expression of life and death issues that directly impact it’s author and many of his followers.

So I submit, as things continue to heat up between Israel and the rest of the Mideast (mainly Iran), the battle draws near. So, it is imperative that Israel not withdraw in the face of the threat, nor would I expect them to do so. Equally so, it is imperative that blogs such as this continue to stand tall, for they play a big role in preparing the field for battle (if need be). Therein lies the purpose of ‘Warsclerotic’. Therein lies its responsibility. Now is not the time to hang it up JW. Now is the time to dig in and rally the troops. Now is not the time to surrender ‘Warsclerotic’ into the darkness of an archived file on a silent computer, for after victory, this is plenty of time for repose.

      The “ayes” have it…

Contributions now at 26 or so, but that’s not why…

I’ll post an explanation tomorrow, but for now you can relax. This site will not go dark on Friday.

Happy to hear that JW. Please allow me the honor of quoting your Dad….

“I think it’s a bit like coming to the end of a book. The plot’s in its thickest, all the characters are in a mess, but you can see that there aren’t fifty pages left, and you know that the finish can’t be far off. ”

This site was risen because a possible and immediate conflict between Iran and Israel, with all its implications and secondary conflicts that it might spark. And yet, the site of Joseph Wouk is so much more than even this conflict, which by itself is huge. We all here remember the very good days and moments of this website – which weren’t just a few – when passionate comments were written as answers and counter answer and with elaborated historical analysis which would keep high the flag on any other science site out there. May be one day, a book will see the day light, lets say, ” A website journal ” and if some elements from our debates here will show up there, than we did our job.
