Police say three shooters, including at least one in fatigues, have shot at least 10 people at the Washington Navy Yard.
Police said at least one of the shooters is “down,” but it was unclear whether that means the suspect has been arrested or shot. Two remain at large, and police believe they have pinned down one between the third and fourth floors of one of the buildings on the installation in Southeast Washington.
As hundreds of police officers from various agencies converged on the scene, officials at Reagan National Airport ordered all outgoing flights held.
Police on the scene said at least eight civilians were shot, along with the two police officers. One is a D.C. Metro Police officer who was shot two times in the leg and was evacuated on a helicopter that took off from a rooftop, police said. The other officer worked at the base. Except for the officer who was taken away by helicopter, all the other injured were being treated on the ground, police said.
A Navy Yard employee reached by telephone shortly before 10 a.m. said employees are still being told to shelter in place. She did not hear the shots, but described sirens, SWAT teams, Marines and a helicopter responding.
The U.S. Navy said that three shots were fired around 8:20 a.m. at the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building, where about 3,000 people work.
Police closed the 11th St Bridge as well as M St SE between 2nd and 4th streets SE due to the shooting. Entrances to the Navy Yard Metro station remain open.
U.S. Capitol Police confirmed enhanced security at the Capitol, but no immediate threat.
Tyler Elementary School at 10th and G streets in Southeast is on lockdown.
As helicopters circled overhead and emergency vehicles continued to rush to the scene, crowds of onlookers gathered on sidewalks and at a construction site near the Navy Yard, but police pushed them back, yelling at them to keep a distance from the grounds.
One employee who declined to give his name said he heard “blam, blam” inside one of the buildings, then someone pulled the fire alarm.
“We aren’t going back on base today,” he said. “[But] there are still people inside.”
Reports began circulating around 9:30 a.m. that the suspect was “down,” but D.C. police said the suspect is still on the loose and “hiding between floors.”

The ”spontaneous” terrorists in the US have guns and they are using them. See also that case, which was declared a ”work accident”, even though it was a terror murderous act. There are now terrorists in the US streets who have guns and are using them.

This is an Al Qaeda attack style, conducted on the US soil by terrorists prepared to die in the attack. The fact that they are called ”shooters” or ”gunmen” wont change the fact that terrorists are attacking America at home and this is only the beginning. While this president isn’t ready to strike the terror on its own home, the terror will find America unprepared on its own home.
Those actions are part of a grand scale war, which is waged by the Sunni Islam against the world. The war in Syria is only a piece – an important one, but still a piece – of the gigantic war puzzle waged by Al Qaeda; in the long run, Assad will lose the war.

Its an offspring of Al Qaeda, its a new Sunni terrorism group affiliated with Al Qaeda, Salafists, its doesn’t really matter how we’ll call them. Just google the Al Qaeda Global War against the world.
Open Wikipedia on this issue and you’ll be shocked. We are at War, brother. Just we didn’t know that, yet. It started on nine eleven, 9/11. That was the date the USA entered this war. It was like, if I may, a new Pearl Harbor. That is what 9/11 was; if some idiot commander in chief decided that he we’ll go home, that doesn’t mean that the opposite part will do the same. Its a war, that’s all.

He was meaning, if I may, that we don’t have here really ”target” subjects to discuss and, from time to time, when one of his colleagues has just broke free from his too tied vest and is started to shoot people, when such an event occurred then we, here, have finally a ”real” subject to speak about, like a ”target”, ”a clear silhouette against the horizon”. I took the liberty to explain ”Tesla” thoughts, because ”I Got A Feeling” that we wont hear from him/ her/ they any time soon. I hope you are ok with that, Steve.

Thanks Luis. When will folks realize that all we try to do here is find the truth. That takes a lot of speculation, commentary, and references. Kind of like one of my favorite lines from a Clint Eastwood movie, “Let’s run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.” Very fitting here.

According to Debka, the command center which was the subject of the attack, was involved in military preparations for Syria operation, which eventually was called off. A couple of days ago, according to Debka, Al Qaeda boss, Zawahiri issued a call for a ”lone wolf attack” inside the States.
Look, we are not that kind of person who , if got it wrong, will continue trying to ”escape” for recognizing his mistake. The opposite is true, in my case. But this development is still unfinished, the FBI are still hard working and my seventh sense tell me that it was a terror, ideological based Islamic action, by a man who was a ticking bomb, unpredictable and took that decision in the last moment. Those kind of cases are very hard to detect and even harder to prevent. I wont be surprised at all if, in the next days, he will show up on the Al Qaeda home page, being declared a martyr and being islamised post mortem.

First it was reported that a false name of the shooter had been publicised because he had entered on a forged/stolen/false ID. Now they are claiming that he had clearance because he had worked there and/or was scheduled to begin work there. Stories of multiple shooters who disapear, leaving only one. Sposed to be a gun free zone but he managed to seize at least two weapons from his victims who apparently had weapons but ummm didn’t know how to use them. One lone killer should be successful in killing and wounding so many people in a military compound before he is neutralised, this doesn’t really jive. Seems like work of more than one.
One thing seems for sure. Even after the horrific precedents of Fort Hood, Aurora, Sandy Hook, etc along with Al Quaide head’s 9/11call for attacks on US homeland, this strategicly essential military compound was UNPREPARED for this attack.
Something very inexplicible is going down.

I completely agree. Though confused and contradictory stories always come out of large catastrophic events, this is beyond the pale.
Watching events as they unfolded, about 2 hour into the siege/search, a large convoy of SUVs and ambulances emerged from the Navy yard and sped away South at high speed.
The reporter who witnessed it was all shook up and said that though he didn’t know what was happening, it was clearly something critical.
While the tragedy was still unfolding, Obama went ahead with his planned speech attacking the Republicans over the economy.
I saw liberal commentators wondering out loud why he would do such a pointless and uncharacteristic thing. During other tragedies he had always canceled his scheduled events.
I don’t know what to believe, but I’m convinced there’s another Federal cover up going on, just like with the Boston Bombing.
The US has lost so much credibility with me that I believe nothing they say unless it is backed up and makes sense.
I feel like a “conspiracy theory nut” because I’m unwilling to accept the MSMs whitewashing stories that somehow always fall into synch at the same time.
So what’s a possible explanation for the Navy Yard?
Aaron may well have been one of the victims, rather than the perp. The real killers may have be caught or captured and whisked away in that convoy.
If the attackers were indeed Islamic terrorists, that’s the LAST thing the WH would want to get out.
So, we go with the crazy “lone gunman” explanation. Aaron was dead. He had no family in DC. He’d had trouble with the cops before and was suffering from PTSD. The perfect patsy.
Only not so perfect. A Buddhist? A 9/11 rescuer? No reason to have anything against the Navy yard, he’d been there less than a week on the job.
This is where the government’s story creaks. I’m hopeful that the WNDs and other sites unafraid of publishing anti-government stories will do the investigative journalism to find out the truth.

From what I’ve read, the shooter entered with a shotgun, took out a guard and then used the guard’s Glock and AR-15 to finish the job. He took the high ground in a balcony overlooking a busy atrium of folks sitting at tables eating and picked them off with relative ease. No one was armed in this military facility other than the guards. Our beloved past President Bill ‘Cigar” Clinton disarmed the military in domestic installations.

Oh, next, while this horrific carnage is going down two miles from the White House, and one maybe two active shooters are still unaccounted for, some nutty fruitcake leasurely saunters up to the WH, whips a couple firecrackers out of the pockets (?) of his running shorts, fumbles around with a damp box of matches, and manages to chuck a few off in the direction of the Commander in Chief before he is finally tackled by a aged white-haired cop in dress uniform….

Near 1:00 minute mark, there’s mention of ‘inside job’ possiblity and near the 1:45 is talk of two more shooters. Nothing conclusive however, just interesting.
