DUBAI – Iran’s new President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday he was “seriously determined” to resolve a dispute with the West over Tehran’s nuclear program and was ready to enter “serious and substantive” negotiations on the issue.

But addressing his first news conference as president, he said the other side should realize a solution could be reached “solely through talks, not threats”. He said he was confident the concerns of both sides could be removed in a short time.

Hopes for a diplomatic resolution to the nuclear issue have risen with Rouhani’s win over conservative rivals in June, when voters replaced hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with a cleric whose watchword is “moderation” but who is still very much an Islamic Republic insider.

The United States said it would be a “willing partner” if Iran was serious about finding a peaceful solution to the issue.

Iran’s critics say that it has used previous nuclear negotiations as a delaying tactic while continuing to develop nuclear weapons-related technology – something Tehran denies. Iran says it needs atomic power for energy generation and medical research.

More generally, Rouhani said that if Washington demonstrated goodwill towards Iran and an atmosphere of mutual respect was created, the way was open for talks to remove the concerns of both sides.

They’re having a good time in Tehran giving the appeasers raw meat. Iran will not announce any nuclear weapon advancement until it has the ability to wipe out most major cities in the United States. Therefore, the appeasers have a couple of years to live in their magical, make believe world.

What makes you so sure we have another couple years?

I’m just sick of the press telling us our adversaries are always a year or two away. In my mind it’s more likely they’re there already.

Just my opinion that Iran is about two years away from announcing the mass production of ICBM’s capable of hitting any city in the United States; and the MIRV warheads that would penetrate our air defenses. I think it would be stupid of them to do otherwise. Secondly, I believe that they would like to destroy America at the same time they attack Israel conventionally.

Mark, I think that Iran already has nuclear weapons that have been tested in North Korea. It is just that they are not ready to announce it until they are good and ready to fight America.

We all know where this is headed…Al Qaeda or some other (insert terrorist organization name here) with nukes. Iran is a lot of things, but not crazy enough to declare nuclear war on the US. Of course, that’s just my opinion. I hope I’m entirely wrong.

Rohani is just a puppet like his predecessor. The only one that makes decisions is their supreme leader. I highly doubt they have any intentions of stopping their work towards a nuclear bomb and all they are doing now is stalling for more time.

Obama has basically said Israel is on its own.

Well, there you go. Can you guys wait another 1262 days until Obama leaves office? Of course, it all depends on who replaces him and how long it’s going to take to repair all the damage “Hope and Change” has done to this country.

      Excuse while I say a brief prayer….

Dear Lord, forgive me having this burning hate in my heart and I humbly ask that you heal it with your grace for I care too much for my country and my fellow man. Amen.

I have my doubts that we are going to make it through the next three years of Obama without some serious sh t

That’s right Norm. Meanwhile, Congress continues to spend money like a drunken sailor (my apologies to the Navy). That alone, could collapse the financial system. Of course, the more they spread the dollar worldwide, the larger the economic base to lend value to the dollar. If the dollar depended on the US alone these days, it might have collapsed already. That’s why I believe that if you want to find the ‘new world order’, just follow the money.
