Al Qaeda’s Chechen, Caucasian fighters win N. Syrian air base, execute captive troops.

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report August 6, 2013, 3:15 PM (IDT)

Abu Omar, Chechen chief of al Qaeda’s North Caucasian brigade

Russian-speaking Al Qaeda fighters from Chechnya and the Caucasian seized the key northern Syrian air base of Minakh 10 kilometers south of Aleppo, from the Syrian army Monday, Aug. 5, debkafile’s military sources reveal. This was the first important gain by Al Qaeda’s North Caucasian brigade, Jaish al-Muhajireen wal Ansar, and its Chechen commander Abu Omar. They did not give the Syrian troops at the base a chance to flee. They caught and executed them by slashing their throats or beheading – in accordance with al Qaeda custom. This fate was also suffered by the Syrian air force’s chief operations officer in the north.

The assault was enabled by suicide bombings at the gate of the air base which enabled the foreign assailants to surge into the compound.

The fall of Minakh abruptly halted Syrian government air strikes against opposition-held regions in Aleppo province. Based there was a fleet of Syrian Air Force German-made MBB 223 Flamingo training craft and Russian-made Mi-8 assault helicopters. It also opened the way for Syrian rebel forces to advance on government outposts in President Bashar Assad’s Alawite heartland in the Jabal al-Akrad hills of Latakia province, and capture a number of villages.

Loyal Assad government troops have made major advances in Homs and Damascus and may be expected to wrest Minakh air base from rebel hands and return to their air strikes against the rebels. However, the appearance of al Qaeda fighters from Chechnya and the Caucasian on the Syrian battlefield is of prime significance in a wider context in a geographical region stretching from southern Russia to the Middle East and is also fraught with significance for the US war terrorism.

On July 30, a number of high-profile al Qaeda operatives in southern Russian urged their Emir Doky Umarov to pull their men back from Syria and refocus on Russian targets, specifically preparations for the Winter Olympics taking place at the Black Sea resort of Sochi next February.

The “huge flow” of jihadi volunteers heading for Syria, they said, would be better employed fighting the Russians.
debkafile’s intelligence and military sources note the ramifications of this “huge flow” – and not just for Russia’s position in the Syrian war, The timing of an al Qaeda victory in Syria is relevant to current US, Israeli, Lebanese and Jordanian efforts to beat  jihadist terrorism.

1. The US has been pouring all its security and intelligence resources into a global terror alert to forestall a major terror attack or attacks on US targets in Muslim countries and inside America  by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) or Al Qaeda in the Maghreb (AQIM). Meanwhile, al Qaeda has opened a third front from Syria using North Caucasian and Chechen adherents.
Less than five months ago, on April 15, two terrorists of Chechen origin, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, blew up the Boston Marathon Race, killing three people and injuring dozens.  First, the pair murdered three young Jews by slashing their throats.

The Chechen branch of Al Qaeda is the most brutal wing of the movement and dedicated no less than the others to murdering Americans.
2.  Not far from Minakh base, the Syrian army and Hizballah are massing around the nearby city of Aleppo ready to drive the rebels out of their strongholds. This battle will bring Syrian and Hizballah Shiite troops in direct confrontation for the first time with Sunni jihadis from the Caucasian, a significant moment for the Sunni-Shiite contest building up in the Middle East and also for the future of Lebanon.

3.  The belligerent Russian-speaking jihadis will not be satisfied with pursuing jihad on Syrian soil. They will want to expand their operations up to and across Syria’s borders with Israel and Jordan, challenging Israeli, Jordanian and US forces based in the Hashemite kingdom with a different and fearsome kind of war savagery from that

In the past, we thought that if a new world war will spark, it must be by the formulas ” Russia against the USA ” or ” East against the West” or the famous ”clash of the civilizations”.

There is a war out there, lets say in Syria, where already many states and powers are involved and its only a question of time when this war will fully spark into the neighbor countries.

But one line in debka’s analysis ring a bell for us this time:

” …This battle will bring Syrian and Hizballah Shiite troops in direct confrontation for the first time with Sunni jihadis from the Caucasian, a significant moment for the Sunni-Shiite contest building up in the Middle East and also for the future of Lebanon.” Are you digging this? Jihad troops from Caucasus will confront Shiite troops from our region in the Battle for Aleppo.

Sometimes, when you are in the History’s Train, you are not paying attention to the fact that you are in the move.
This is one of those times and its worth to pay attention to it :

A Jihad World War is unfolding, its already here and it is happening between the principals sects / currents in Islam : The Shiites and The Sunnis .

The seeds of this war were planted more than one thousand years ago – The Battle of Karbala – and its roots are deep in the very agitated history of the Islam. What we are witnessing here is a new great world war only this time it will be between different factions of the Islam.

It will attract into it, like a black hole, also nations that are not Islamic, but its beginnings are those we already have discussed.

the Chechens like i previously posted are armed and equipped to deal with the Russians the primary objective is to hit the Russians so they may well deliberately avoid the shias,,but this is much bigger now it directly involves teh usa and russia faceing off and the rebels have trhe arms now they need, the russians sent a combat fleet to cuba this week the same day the us fleet went on a global full alert, when you say its about to stretch beyond syrias boarders that’s close to a certainty now. Were luck there is not a lot of money in the global system as this will limit the extent of any conflict,i would expect to see some broken bones and bloody noses but not a global war

My first thought was that the CIA organized these Al-Qaeda fighters against this ally of Russia, and this article threatens Russia to use them on Russian land. I am inclined to think I am right after reading this very good analysis (as usual from that site…a site I am surprised you do not quote more often, since it goes farther than Debka in its analyses) :
    http://osnetdaily.com/2013/08/cia-unleashes-al-qaedas-chechen-brigade-in-northern-syria/
CIA unleashes Al Qaeda’s Chechen brigade in Northern Syria

In a remarkable ‘coincidence’ with the recent massive Al Qaeda jailbreaks in Iraq, Libya and Pakistan, and just a couple of days after the capture of large stockpiles of ATGM’s by FSA forces in Syria, the CIA’s Chechen task force known as the “Caucasian emirate” managed to take over a key northern Syrian air base near Aleppo. Both of these highly complex operations must have been meticulously planned for a long time before their execution in the recent 48 hours.

Ever since the Boston Bombing false flag, the American intelligence community has found a dual use for its Chechen mercenaries. Sometimes they are “freedom fighters” against Russia and Russian assets like Assad, and sometimes they are a clear and imminent terrorist threat to American interests, frightening enough to trigger the “global terror threat” Psyop.

In this particular context, the Chechens were obviously aided by NATO special forces to achieve the goal of taking over the airbase (similarly to the manner in which the KLA operated in Yugoslavia in tandem with NATO back in the 1990s) right in the middle of a major offensive of the Shiite axis on the FSA held Northern Syrian districts in the vicinity of Aleppo. Assad is again discovering that containing this insurgency is not unlike trying to empty the sea with a fork. Many drops of terror get caught, but many more continue to evade the Syrian army which seems incapable of carrying out this task on its own, despite its massive manpower and weapon stockpiles, and relies mostly on the guerrilla specialties of a few thousand Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian Basij troops instead. The show is far from over in Syria as well as other parts of the Middle-East, especially Egypt which is currently targeted by Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood for a second time since the “Arab spring” began.

Rotter (in Hebrew) is reporting right now that large Assad army units + Hezbollah fighters are leaving Homs – which is what the rebels wanted – and are racing through an hostile territory to Latakia, trying to reach some key points around the city -port, points which can open – or close – the gates of Latakia. The rebels are only 5 km from one of these key points, while Assad forces are as far as 100km from those destination points. However, they move very fast (Assad troops). I’ll try to keep the readers here updated and I’ll be back with Rotter only if dramatic events are going to happen.

  4. Luis's avatar Luis Says:

Reports from the last moments (Rotter) : The town Qardaha, which is situated in the mountains, overlooking Latakia, is now in the range of the rebels’ artillery. This town, Qardaha, is the home of Assad’ family. Under no circumstances can Assad afford to lose this town and his troops may have a very busy night right now.
As we previously said, the rebels maneuver to go for Latakia was extremely good – Rotter is suggesting that even foreign military consultations were involved in taking this decision.
See you tomorrow, may all have a good night.

There could be, perhaps, the opertunity for cooperation against a common foe here; the US/EU/Israel+ Russia+ the Shia axis (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Hezbulla) +Egypt vs the Mo Bros/Hamas/Al Qaeda; enemy of my enemy? Probably won’t happen, though; Obama never misses a chance to do the wrong thing.

    • Luis's avatar Luis Says:

No. That axis is right now : Israel + Sunnis against Shiites + Russia, with light deviations. Why? Because is, in the end, Israel against Iran. That what all this game is all about.

      • Kishonist's avatar Kishonist Says:

This game is also about using Al-Qaeda to justify turning the USA and Western countries into surveillance states, where citizens have less rights and are treated like potential criminals. Al-Qaeda is used to increase the power of Western oligarchs.

        • Luis's avatar Luis Says:

Perfect, my friend. France24 has just finished to present the French press which is highly criticizing the last American ”smooth” move, which was to shut down all its embassies business all around the middle east, north Africa, and as far as Bangladesh.
They are writing about a ”hoax” which was meant to cover up for NSA scandal. Can you believe that people wrote this already here two days before? A young French reporter on the same France24 said also that killing top leaders of Al Qaeda will not solve the problem – the same was said here yesterday by a couple of good people here (”killing terrorists with a joystick is not longer the solution”, quoting my self, oh dear, really sorry).

So, if anybody needed another prove about how ”serious”, ”sophisticated” and ”professional” Obama & team are, that was already provided by the last imbecile measures, which were meant to be ”smart”. This and more: it seems to us that almost anything ”big” that those people are initiating it ends into a really big fiasco.

And now, relating to the Al Qaeda complot, their plan was to take over the strategic key points in Yemen, which is more like a military operation so the evacuation of the westerners from Yemen was a proper measure while the hysteria of all the embassies was, without a doubt, an overreaction – like many experts already agree.

    One more interesting article :
    From Prison-break to Petroleum price-make
    http://osnetdaily.com/2013/08/from-prison-break-to-petroleum-price-make/
Mercenaries are grouping for torching the Russoman empire, thus exploding the Petroleum price, in order to support the USD status as reserve currency.

A series of recent reports suggests Anglo-America is nearing to implement a systematic effort aimed at shreding the Russoman empire, across the board from its last conquest beig Cairo all the way back to its origins in Moscow. Such anti-Russian intentions would be corroborated by the recent report of Chechens undoing Syria, thus aiming at ripping the Russoman’s belly open, all the way from Damascus to Moscow.

Multiple recent jail breaks of Qaeda

Jihadi Jail Break: Over 2,000 Taliban and al Qaeda sprung promping ‘new global terror threat’

    The Kerry-Bibi meeting

Releasing 100 PNA murderers nay be part of the bidding on Hamas – in order to help it against Egypt and perhaps in order to pit it against Syria, neither of these two purposes is good for Israel. The Embassies would be done by Gladio-B experts, perhaps an inside job within NATO embassies.

Our recent coverage of Gladio A:

Has Gladio struck again in Italy ? And The Eurabian Battle for the GBP.

Our recent coverage of Gladio B:

    Syria: the Conventional War

This come at a time of multiple pre-crisis at the Israeli economy, which is about to deteriorate thus form a socio-economic destabilization vortex which would draw in to it the PNA, like we have already described late July on our article: “ZioBubble“.

This crisis has been aggravated since that article by means of fiascoes with the performance and management of the Israeli stock exchange and with the appointment of a new head for Israel’s central bank, names ‘bank of Israel’, in order to replace Prof. Stanley Fisher in that role. These two overlapping media events surely expedite and trigger the impending financial collapse of the country – since finance is built on trust and is ruined by means of distrust.

A third measure in this regard is the 14 Billion NIS == 3.5 Billion USD ‘gap’ in the state budget Netanyahu admitted about a month ago and which was vehemently denied by him late last year. It stems from the bi-annual state budget for 2011/2 which has been issued to the Israeli Parliament and approved by it summer of 2010.

A nearterm financial crisis would herald a huge propaganda wave intended to convince the Israeli public, just like 22 year ago, that only US financial aid can save the country from a socio-economic Armageddon and thus much land and status should be delegated to the PNA – in spite of its imminent near term fall in to the hand of the Hamas, described in: “ZioBubble“.

    An Exit-strategy from QE

The USA faces now a critical economic challenge:

how to save the USD status of global reserve currency, when the manipulated shorts on Gold and Silver cannot be afforded any more? The classical answer is to inflate the Petroleum price, which is denominated in USD globally nearly without exception, and which underpins the USD and GBP.

    Western Europe

While western Europe is integral to NATO, namely is the military backyard of Anglo-America,it may still come under attacks for recognizing the renewed regime in Egypt and for pale support of the Guerrilla in Syria. This would mimic the 1970s modus operandi of the PLA, which ‘extorted’ huge sums from western European countries, by means of letting it to perform gruesome terror attacks. If those countries or the USA occupying them didn’t want to finance the PLO, they wouldn’t have neglected their citizens in expected prone situation.

    Futures

While the short term effects of the coming Petroleum price surge may benefit the Petroleum producers, then in the longer term it may benefit its alternatives. It was Spring and Summer of 2008, when the Petroleum prices touched the $140 a barrel. Thus price exclamation spawned a breadth of initiatives, techonolgical, logistical and financial (funding) in order to restrain the dependency on Petroleum.
