In an attempt to bolster Syria’s war-battered economy, Russia is considering extending a loan to Damascus and is still committed to delivering S-300 missiles in defiance of the West, a top Syrian official said Monday.

Visiting Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil said after meeting Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow that the issue of a Russian credit was discussed at the talks and Damascus hoped for an agreement by the end of the year.

“We discussed it, although it is still early to talk of concrete figures,” Jamil said, quoted by Russian news agencies. “We hope that the question will be solved by the end of the year, experts are now discussing it.”

The Syrian official added that all arms agreements with Russia, including Moscow’s controversial contract to deliver S-300 missile systems to Damascus, were still in place.

“All agreements between Russia and Syria in the area of arms deliveries are in place,” the Syrian deputy prime minister said.

“Relations between Syria and Russia are strengthening for the good of peace in the region,” he added.

Lavrov said the Syrian government and opposition must work together to expel all “terrorists and extremists from Syria.”

“We are continuing to meet with the government and all opposition groups to convince them all to accept the initiative to convene the international conference as soon as possible,” Lavrov said at the start of talks with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil.

“Unfortunately, most of the opposition, in contrast to the government, is not showing this readiness,” he added, according to AFP.

Jamil is meeting Lavrov, in an effort to seek ways of ending the 28-month Syrian conflict after clashes with rebels left dozens dead.

The move comes as Russia and the United States seek to convene an international conference on Syria but amid differences over its parameters.

The Syrian government has expressed its willingness to participate in such a meeting as it seeks to subdue the rebels.

Meanwhile, deadly violence raged across Syria on Sunday as regime shelling killed at least 18 civilians in the northwest while 28 rebels died in Damascus battling government forces, a monitoring group said.

I will translate this what the russians mean is that they are now really shitting themselves,as for sure they know that in the next few weeks if the story circulating at the moment as a anonymous email is true which it is,they are about to lose a lot of russian troops about 60000 of them,as once the UK gets stuck into the russians with the rest of NATO they will be mincemeat along with assad,s 300 couldn’t even stop the french

  2. Louisiana Steve's avatar Louisiana Steve Says:

What email Justice? I haven’t seen it yet.

    • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

defense posted some of it.its real the problem is it goes into a lot of detail so it cant be published,it says that the last week of Ramadan is D day for russia and assad, there are frantic preparations going on in the UK,there are all kinds of secret aircraft buzzing round 24 hours a day awacs,Russian subs outside all the military ports in the UK its looking like were in for a good fight,we dont care were British we have been waiting to settle the score with russia for about 60 years,i live in a bad place if thers any conflict here so does defense both places i live in are in huge military installations around them,Truthfully i hope its BS but it doesn’t look like it,oh and the email has definitely come from someone at the top of the loop, like warning us to split,i think i know who sent it to me and why,as we live in a primary target

    • An anonymous email sent to me last week that stated the last week of Ramadan will see a move towards intervention in Syria. It may be BS it may be true I posted a small sample of it just to give everyone a heads up.

  3. Louisiana Steve's avatar Louisiana Steve Says:

What triggered all this recent escalation with the Russians? Is it because the UK may lead NATO in the charge against Syria or is it due to something else? In any event, thanks and stay safe.

The Europeans stayed too long on their tree, doing practically nothing regarding the Syrian conflict / slaughter. Should the western powers act earlier – much earlier – then no jihad heaven will be formatted in Syria and even this fact isn’t so sure now, because of the crescendo involvement of the Russians into the conflict. All the world will stay idle, waiting for Assad to gain back the lost ground and eventually consolidating his gains ? Can we imagine that? So the west is preparing, slowly (heh!) but surely to make a difference in this war, otherwise Russia, Iran will be practically unstoppable in the region, in the aftermath. And what about Israel, our beloved country? Here I have a pretty risky assertion to make and here it is:
Israel should act in Iran decisively a long time ago and even yesterday it was a good time for that. But something is keeping the Israelis back – or our PM – from this operation. I wander what that factor might be. If an European military intervention in Syria is imminent, than I can understand the postponing of the operation by Israelis. Only in that case the IAF should hold on its ”horses” for the ”great race” to happen – again – later.

    • If we are going in then we should have went in sooner, before the Russian build up and the huge number of dead. But we have to do it right and not leave a mess that will deteriorate into a security nightmare for the region.

were not talking about the Europeans were talking about the UK thats a whole different ball game Luis,There is only one military power more powerful than the uk the usa,It is big stuff if true,we re trying to work out whats triggered it,there are a lot of rumo3rs but that’s 22it,one thing for sure if you put 2 & 2 together the Israeli defense staff visit to the uk and the news about that was a red herring i dont believe that Israel asked the uk to attack Iran , i think it was backing against are arch enemy Russia then your guys will be in the thick of it

  5. IAmSpartacus's avatar IAmSpartacus Says:

The UK doesn’t have the capability to act against Syria by itself, it would have to be in conjunction with France, and, most likely, the US. Remember Libya; the Brits and French were six months trying to take down Gaddalfi, and were running out of ordinance; it couldn’t have been done without the US. I doubt that the Brits have any intention of doing anything, anyway; it would probably mean the fall of Cameron’s government, since military action against Syria is as unpopular in Britain as it is in the US.

    • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

so speaks the voice of spasticus mighty bullshiter

    • It was a complete failure of logistics, the UK has enough ordnance in the hills above Loch Lomond for an extensive NATO campaign into a country like Syria, but in Libya they stupidly thought it would be over in weeks.

The UK will most certainly not act alone but as part of a larger group.

      • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

we now know why russias the target its bad and theirs no going back sorry cant print

      • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

we were not depleted anyway the Uk has enough arms for a two year war on two fronts and the ability to resupply in a matter of weeks everything g we use is made here in the uk,whats in Scotland is the tip of the iceberg we are not some yellow power like Holland or france

      • True, the Glen Douglas NATO munitions at Loch Lomond is only one of many ammo dumps, but that alone could sustain the UK for a while.

  6. Norm's avatar Norm Says:

Back on the ranch, if the Russians bring em in, blow em up. But because there is a danger that Israel could miss important advanced weapon deliveries it is playing a dangerous game.

  7. John Prophet's avatar John Prophet Says:

Real it in boys, there will be no war with Russia. Makes no sense on so many levels…

    • Louisiana Steve's avatar Louisiana Steve Says:

I agree John. As I’ve said before, the Ruskies still have large nuclear teeth and will not go down in defeat without biting back. The memory of Hitler’s invasion of Russia is still fresh in the minds of a lot of folks in that country. They will not let that happen again.

      • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

What use are russian nukes they have about 200 that are operational out of those about 30 are relatively new they are limp dicks we have had a first strike second third and forth capability for 35 years there missiles wont get off the ground there submarine fleet is totally vulnerable too the Russians know this and would not dare play that card with the uk as the result would be a smouldering heap of radioactive glass .like i said were not a yellow country we don’t need any others help,a single British destroyer can down every single aircraft in europe,we dont punch above are weight.

    • artaxes's avatar artaxes Says:

      I agree.
I think that the same thing that happened to those beautyful Yakhont missiles will happen also to the S-300.
The Russians will deliver and assemble these babies and get the hell away from them as fast as possible.
The Israeli intelligence will report that pre dawn is the best time to take them out because at that time the Russians have drunk so much vodka that they are sleeping in their bases and not even a nuclear explosion could wake them up.
And why would Bibi hurt them unneccesarily?
No Russians hurt, missiles delivered but unfortunately destroyed.
Russians get their money anyway (nearly a billion $ + payment for the interests).
      What a great deal.

      • Louisiana Steve's avatar Louisiana Steve Says:

“Russians have drunk so much vodka that they are sleeping in their bases and not even a nuclear explosion could wake them up.”

LOL! Now that’s funny….and probably true. But then again, there’s nothing meaner than a Russian with a bad hangover…ha.

    • Louisiana Steve's avatar Louisiana Steve Says:

Two things come to mind AR. One, the Russian nuclear arsenal had the capability to destroy the world many times over. If they are at 10%, that’s still a huge punch in the jaw. Two, their secondary strike capability comes to mind. There’s still a lot of nuclear subs out there.

      • artaxes's avatar artaxes Says:

You’re right. I asked because there are strange things happening these times.
The biggest Russian manouvers and drills in peace time.
Somewhere else I read that the Russians want to implement the biggest increase of their navy since the times of the Soviet Union.
Then there are very credible reports of the miserable state of the Russian military.
I don’t think that anyone would start a full scale nuclear exchange.
Lots of conflicting reports. Hard to make sense of it.

    • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

Totally right its scrap but they do have some nice new missiles unfortunately they underestimated the missile defense system so there not much use ether, they are under the delusion that because they speeded up the boost stage they cant be tracked which is a big miscalculation as the new tracking does not use the boost stage to predict the missiles trajectory, the same goes for arrow 3

      • Tony's avatar Tony Says:

Israel cant deal with a couple of missiles from Hamas with all the money they invested on the Iron Dome … David’s Sling or anything else… I dont think any Nato country can deal with Russian missiles… they will be overwhelmed… imagine like 1000 missiles in one Salvo??

    • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

Yes joop we all get it,what were telling you is the russians know what they can dish out is nothing, this is not the USSR stop living in the past,a 40 year old pile of junk just doesn’t cut the mustard, you wouldn’t believe what the Americans have in space, that is frightening, again how will Russia launch its missiles with no satellites and it get much worse there are at least 30 x fighters in space now, then theirs the x47b it goes on and on,as someone said before the Russians have had too much vodka, personally i hope they back down no one really wants to see them humiliated, they could offer so much to Europe but until then DEATH TO RUSSIA

no not star wars thats was just a ruse to put the russians off track,by the way i did not mean 30 i meant 3 touch screen today again ther drones with a unique telemetry and control system, you cant hack it,the hardware is specific to each craft

If JW is upset about my comments he is more than able enough to contact me and tell me that by himself, .

I,am just not so optimistic as you about the outcome of an all out confrontation, in the end we will win but at what cost.

So lets hope it will never happen.

But i like your comments very much , it is like a direct contact to the strategical intelligence of the usa and nato and special England

Exactly three (3) X-37 launches over the past few years. Decades ago we had the V-1, then the V-2. Are we to take the X-37 as the V-3, Obama’s Vergeltungswaffe 3?

Sounds like 2 EMPs (one over Europe and one over USA) can end those optimistic views of Western superior power. As somebody said above: don’t underestimate you enemy

    • Justice for Israel's avatar Justice for Israel Says:

stick to what you know about tony and isac,1 you cant lanch a emp into europe full stop the missiles defense will deal with that,2 emp does not come form a nuke for about 6 years, but in this case tony is right emp strike wont happen as our enemy’s only have nukes emp adapted ones but if one got through that would lead to a all out exchange of which we would win first strike outright ,then theirs CHAMP the usa and uk have it,oh and i will add the uks military infrastructure is mostly emp proof now,,,

US EMP missile fries PCs and electronics in trial run of microwave weapon
