Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei instructed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah to prevent the downfall of Bashar Assad’s regime in Syria “at all costs,” the Kuwaiti newspaper Araa reported Thursday, citing a high-ranking Arab official.

The official said that during a meeting between Khamenei and Nasrallah in Tehran last month, the supreme leader told the secretary general of the Lebanese Shiite group to block all supply routes to the rebels fighting to overthrow the Syrian president.

According to the report, the demand surprised Nasrallah, but he treated it as a “religious edict.”

The newspaper’s source said the directive led the Shiite group to send to Syria a large number of trained fighters who succeeded in laying siege to the city of El Quseir, near Homs, while cutting off military supply routes to the rebels.

The source said Hezbollah helped bolster the Syrian army’s situation on the outskirts of Damascus.

Over the past few days a source affiliated with Hezbollah told the Arab press that Hezbollah units were taking part in the fighting in Syria and played a significant if not decisive role in the Syrian army’s recapture of a strategic city located on the international route between Damascus and Daraa, located in the south of the country.

The source said Hezbollah fighters were advancing southward at a fast pace and have reached the entrance to Daraa and the Syrian-Jordanian border.

A senior member of a Salafi jihadist group whose fighters are taking part in the Syrian war warned Hezbollah that if its fighters reach the border with Jordan they will be “burned by a blazing fire.” The senior member of the group, Muhammad al-Shalbi, resides in Jordan.

Jordanian Information Minister Mohammad Momani also responded to the report, saying he had no information regarding the presence of Hezbollah fighters near the border, but stressed that the Hashemite Kingdom would “not allow any element to breach the border.”

Suddenly, the war in Syria is like the war in Spain, with certain differences, of course. And don’t forget the fact that after that war, WWII sparked.

i get what you mean about spain the FSA is like the international brigade in sort of twisted way,But russia is all bluff just like in the cold war,as usual russia makes its threats from a position of weakness, the difference these days is we know all russias secrets and its military capability’s,or lack of them the russians wil be defeated in days, putin will lose his power and my camp will fall over in laughter at the humiliation of seeing the russians put in there place,i would expect the possibility of Turkey closing the phosphorus strait to the russia at a critical moment the Russian navy id flanked big time from all sides, they are sitting ducks,so dont lose your bottle Luis, push for action its the only thing assad and putin understand,

I do not see a gain for Russia in a direct confrontation whit the USA , NATO and Israel.

truthfully i can see its dificult for you to understand whats going on now you really need to be a specialist in cold war doctrine and post cold war final phase doctrine, masters level political history, you could start here,it may well frighten you “New Lies for Old,” by Anatoliy Golitsyn. Golitsyn then read some angelton, its difficult to explain in a few words what took 30 years of study

You are absolute right about that.

And now you are gone tell me what the gain is for rusia in an all out war whit the west ?

total domination and the destruction of the west that is there goal and objective, and has been since 1959

Seems logical to me that it would be better off for Russia to back off from Syria/Iran crap and embrace the partnership with Israel on development/delvery of natural gas to Asian markets. Let Sunni and Shites to go after each other’s throat as usual. Russia keeps european market and nice long term cash cow via Israel’s partnership. Even moderate Islamics are getting so tired of those extremists and even Russia are dealing with those extremists as well inside their country.

Russia is and always will be our enemy thats is not the west it is Russia, russia has no interest in a tiny amount of oil unless it ceases the Israel Territory,It is about restoring the ussr Mk 2 and there very frustrated as all their plans have been scuppered,in fact i cant think of any other time they have screwed up in such a big way, telling yourself this is not happening or coming up with utopian partnership wont change anything, also if Israel does become involved with russia the USA and NATO will drop Israel like a stone,Bibi is very aware of this russia has spent the last 50 years planning this,we are just at the beginning Georgia was the fist step, russia invaded Georgia in order to be able to reinforce its bases south of there, otherwise they would be cut off in times of war,it was the fist step in the plan thats unfolding now

Good points. I would say China is greater threat to West than Russia. Do you see Russia aligned with West against China? I do keep up reading Generational Dynamics on daily basis ( http://www.generationaldynamics.com ) Things can change on a dime. 🙂

That site Generational Dynamics do make sense to me and it has been doing good predicting the events correctly so far (generational cycles do repeats again and again). So far GD is predicting “Clash of Civilizations” between West, Europe, Israel, Shites (yeah Iraq), India, Russia VS China, Pakstain, Sunnis, North Korea. History shows that countries usually ends up being a strange bedfellows for the sake of surivival. One thing for sure it is going to be interesting times. But kinda scary if some madman decide to press the red button.

total domination and the destruction of the west that is there goal and objective, and has been since 1959

    I

Com on be serous that doctrine is changed long time ago, Rusia powers and influences are in decline for years , it is just the other way around and that is the big fear for Rusia, loosing the last bits of influence, they know as we know that they will get there ass kicked at a direct confrontation whit the west, oke it will cost us dearly , but we will win this.

And i realy do not understand your commend , in an other comment you call Rusia a yoke country

So you think that a yoke country is willing to take on The USA, NATO and ISRAEL , wow !!!!!!

And whit China in the background to wait for the best deal, what will be dealing whit the winner of this confrontation.
Perhaps a opportunity for china to solve some border conflict whit Rusia and gain some land, a deal is easy to made

Nope Rusia is just muscle flexing not from a powerful position but from a corner where they are sitting.

And that make it a bit more dangerous, the choice for Rusia is simply loosing now there last bit of influence and a lot more whit a all out war or in time, and what are they willing to pay for it to prevent it for the short time, they know if they can not establish a new status quo whit the west now they will lose, just a matter of supporting the Islamic forces inside Rusia and in there influence area..( Nothing new we are doing this for years )( never ask yourself about the but kissing of the west ?)/ why we still buying a shit load of oil from them )

So the only reasonable option for rusia is a deal whit the west in a way that they don, t lose fase for iran and syria and of course for he Islamic world,

And whit obama an erdogan as 2 big friends is it not impossible that Israel will be thrown under the bus to establish a new status quo, for the time being.

The big question here is obama willing to force Russia in to a new status quo ??
I think so, i do not believe that obama is working to an all out war whit Russia

The big gain here is to made by the USA, NATO, but at what price and are we willing to pay for it.
Connect the dots whit lines , and so you get a picture.

    Again: BIBI watch your back
