The northern front exploded Sunday, Jan 20, during Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi’s first visit as IDF Chief of Staff. A Syrian missile was intercepted by Iron Dome over the northern Golan after an Israeli attack was reported on a Damascus airport. Russian sources claimed that the attack targeted Damascus international airport and was carried out by four Israeli helicopters. Syrian military sources said that their air defenses had shot down 7 Israeli missiles. Thousands of trippers on the Hermon ski slopes north of the Golan saw missiles flying overhead – the Syrian missile and the Iron Dome air defense battery in action.
