This is too much. Only a few days after claiming that Russian missiles landed in Iran (killing thousands of orphans…maybe), “unnamed” U.S. officials are now saying that the Cuban army is fighting alongside Assad’s troops in Syria. Fox News dutifully reports:

Cuban military operatives reportedly have been spotted in Syria, where sources believe they are advising President Bashar al-Assad’s soldiers and may be preparing to man Russian-made tanks to aid Damascus in fighting rebel forces backed by the U.S.

Gen. Leopoldo Cintra Frias, head of  Cuba’s Armed Forces, recently visited Syria to lead a group of Cuban military personnel joining forces with Russia in their support of Assad, according to information received by the University of Miami’s Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies.

On Wednesday, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News that Cuban paramilitary and special forces units are on the ground in Syria, citing evidence from intelligence reports. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Cuban troops may have been training in Russia and may have arrived in Syria on Russian planes.

A few things.

First: Miami is a hotbed of borderline fascist Cuban exiles. The city’s most celebrated right-wing Cuban/monster is none other than Luis Posada Carriles, an actual U.S.-trained terrorist who was convicted of blowing up an airplane. So we think it’s safe to assume that the University of Miami’s “Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies” is probably a circlejerk of right-wing gremlins.

Secondly, how many U.S. officials who speak on the condition of anonymity does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Cuban soldiers driving tanks in Syria? Sweet mercy.

The U.S. is trying to create a Hollywood bogeyman in Syria, a “Soviet Axis” that is murdering the moderate, “democratic forces” fighting for women’s rights against the evil Russian puppet (and puppy murderer), Bashar al-Assad.

All you need is the ghost of Patrick Swayze, and you’ve got an Academy award-winning blockbuster.
