Israeli Intel: Iranian Revolutionary Guards directed attacks on Israeli border from Syria

Israeli Intel: Iranian Revolutionary Guards directed attacks on Israeli border from Syria.

According to Israeli intelligence evaluations, the IRGC has been behind shelling of IDF posts on Mount Hermon and “retaliation” for alleged Israeli strikes on Hezbollah weapons caches in Syria.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which is present in Syria, directed a number of attacks by pro-Assad regime militias on Israel in recent months, according to Israeli intelligence evaluations.

In one such attack in June, a number of shells were fired by Syrian militias at IDF posts on Mount Hermon. There were no injuries or damages on the Israeli side, and the IDF responded by returning artillery fire.

“The IDF reserves the right to act in any way, and at any time, to protect the residents of the state of Israel,” the army said at the time of the incident.

Other attacks directed by the IRGC over the past year occurred after Israel was accused by Hezbollah of launching an air strike against a weapons cache in eastern Lebanon in February this year, and after Israel was accused of being behind the assassination of senior Hezbollah figures such as senior commander Hassan Al-Lakis, who was shot dead outside of his Beirut home in December 2013.

Meanwhile, Israeli intelligence evaluations also say that during the Gaza war this summer, Hamas cooperated with global jihadi elements who used the Sinai Peninsula to fire rockets on Eilat. On July 15, terrorists in Sinai fired two rockets the Red Sea resort city, lightly wounding four residents and destroying a number of vehicles.

This cooperation between Hamas and terrorist rocket launchers in Sinai was viewed by Egypt as a hostile violation of its sovereignty.

Towards the end of Operation Protective Edge, Israel bombed global jihadi cells that planned on leaving Gaza with weapons and heading into Sinai to carry out attacks on Egyptian military targets, and to fire rockets at Israel.

So little news regarding Israel vs Iran these days. Too many distractions, i.e. Obama, ISIS, Hamas, border security, wife beating NFL players, etc, etc, etc, … ad nauseum. Glad you found this little gem, JW. Hopefully, we call all return to the problem at hand, the snake in the woodpile so to speak. The snake that is Iran.

Interesting, this story no longer on the Jerusalem Post site. Maybe it wasn’t cleared for publication by censors???
