The IAF targeted a global jihadi member in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning, killing him on his motorbike.

Palestinian medics said another man was also wounded in the attack.

The terrorist was named by Channel 10 as Hitham Mashal, a rocket manufacuring expert and a member of the Aknaf Bet Al-Maqdes global jihad group, which fired rockets on Eilat earlier this month and on the western Negev region.

The targeted assassination represents the first such action by the IAF since the end of Operation Pillar of Defense in November 2012.

The attack comes a day after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned of a strong military response to sporadic rocket fire into Israel.
