Israel Hayom | Eilat hit with two rockets: What happened to Iron Dome?.

Two rockets fired from Sinai explode in Eilat, causing no harm • Residents say sirens sounded only after rockets exploded • Iron Dome, deployed to area two weeks ago, failed to intercept rockets, even though they landed inside the city.

  1. Early reports attributed the failure to some “technical glitch”, but during 8 o’clock evening news a different version emerged , that the rockets were detected but not intercepted due to “geographical constraints”. This pathetic excuse is an obvious cover up for the lack of operation due to political reasons (such as the decision to refrain from “violating Egyptian air space”) and the fear of interceptor parts falling in Egyptian hands in case they blow up across the border. Well, this looks like a media hype to me. The Iron Dome is supposed to intercept rockets when they are predicted to cause damage. It seems these ones fell and exploded without causing any damage or injuries, thus it is a win for Iron Dome as it acted as expected.
