German and Turkish authorities have detained smugglers who are suspected of illegally shipping nuclear materials purchased in India and Germany to an Iranian nuclear facility in the city of Arak, the Turkish newspaper Haberturk reported.
In Istanbul, a Turkish citizen of Iranian origin was apprehended and documents were seized.
At Atatürk International Airport, an Iranian man who was allegedly key to the operation was detained.
Turkish customs forces also raided a house owned by an Iranian couple, but the two were not there. A search for them is now underway.
In Germany, five Iranian suspects were detained.
