TOKYO – The UN nuclear agency chief said on Friday he was not optimistic about talks with Iran next week on getting access to a military base Western powers suspect has been used for atomic-weapons related work.

“The outlook is not bright,” Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said in Tokyo.

He was referring to negotiations to be held in Tehran on Wednesday on a framework accord the IAEA hopes will give it access to the Parchin military facility, documents and officials involved in Iran’s disputed nuclear program.

Western powers say Iran is trying to develop the capability to make atomic weapons, a charge the Islamic Republic denies.

Both the IAEA and Tehran have said progress was achieved at a meeting in December towards an agreement the Vienna-based UN agency says would allow it to resume a long-stalled inquiry into suspected atom bomb research in Iran.

However, Amano said in Japanese comments translated into English: “Talks with Iran don’t proceed in a linear way. It’s one step forward, two or three steps back … So we can’t say we have an optimistic outlook” for the January 16 meeting.

    Well theres a suprise.

Afterover a decade of failed diplomacy and pussy-footing by the west Iran is now secure in the knowledge that the west and Israel will never attack and are just wasting time.

Heck even if they were never planning to build a nuke, knowing that they are now safe they would be foolish not to build several and cement their position.

For those who thought Netanyahu might be Israels Winston Churchill, let it go. This man talks tough but lacks the will to do
what’s needed. Irans atomic is already baked into the pie.

    Surprise, Surprise.
As for Netanyahu, we will know at the end of this year if he was all talk or if he actually did something.

An israeli attack on Iran, in full gear, openly, will be that last resort for the israeli government and that will take place if all the other means failed; we advice the friends here – and ourselves – to take notice of a simple fact: the more the israelis are talking about such an operation, the less is probable it will happen.

I am not saying that Israel should launch a full scale attack.
War should always be a means to an end and not an end in itself.
If that end can be reached by other means like “mysterious accidents” than those means are to be preferred.
If all the time tables and reports we have seen so far are not a bunch of lies and propaganda then this year is the year of decision.
If at the end of the year Iran is much closer to a nuke or even has a nuke, then we know that Netanyahu was just talking.
If Iran’s nuclear program is thrown back because of “massive technical problems” we know he was not just talking.

  6. The Scandal That Will Bring Obama Down

”It’s even worse than we previously thought. A retired four-star admiral is now claiming that Barack Obama intentionally conspired with America’s enemies to stage a bogus attack and the kidnapping of an American ambassador so he could “negotiate” the release of a “hostage” and bolster his mediocre approval ratings just prior to the election!”

In a sane world obama shouldn’t even have become president in the first place.
Newsflash: We are NOT in a sane world and NO scandal will bring obama down.

A building covered in pink? I didn’t know Christo was still active with his art. Or perhaps the Iranians did it themselves to make sure that the satellites wouldn’t zoom in on the wrong building.
