Hezbollah MP Walid Sakariya told Lebanese television this week that the nuclear weapon Iran is allegedly developing is intended to annihilate Israel.

In a segment recorded and translated by MEMRI (the Middle East Media Research Institute), Sakariya, also a retired general, told his interviewer on Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV Tuesday that should Iran acquire a nuclear weapon it would serve Syrian as well as Iranian interests, namely the eradication of the Jewish state.

“This nuclear weapon is intended to create a balance of terror with Israel, to finish off the Zionist enterprise, and to end all Israeli aggression against the Arab nation,” Sakariya said.

“The entire equation in the Middle East will change,” he asserted.

Iranian officials typically assert that their controversial nuclear program is meant solely for peaceful purposes.

“This nuclear weapon is intended to create a balance of terror with Israel” They don’t need to go to all that trouble. Balance with Israel can be attained by stopping all terrorist activity on their part.

We don’t need any Hezbollah MP stupid declarations for understanding why Iran should be decapitated from its nuclear program.
However, we understand that even the Hezbollah MP joined the international effort to expose the real goal of the iranian nuclear tentative.
    Very touchy.

Neither the Iranians or Arabs understand that if they nuke Israel that while the bulk of the Israeli state may cease to exist its strategic weapons will turn every major Arab and Iranian city into smoking radioactive ruins. The problem in talk about destroying the “Zionist entity” only serves the purpose of undermining their perceptions as rational actors, thus making (Heaven forbid) nuclear deterrence–between Israel and Iran–much more shaky than during the Cold War. I firmly believe that Obama and his team have accepted a nuclear Iran and are planning to squeeze Israel on various issues by promising increased defensive weapons and perhaps even F-22’s.
