- EMP strike capabilities: Israel allegedly possesses several 1 megaton bombs,[150][151] which give it a very large EMP attack abilities.[152] For example, if a megaton class weapon were to be detonated 400 kilometers above Omaha, nearly the entire contiguous 48 States would be affected with potentially damaging EMP experience from Boston to Los Angeles, from Chicago to New Orleans.[153] Similarly, a high altitude airburst could cause serious damage to electrical systems in most of Iran.[154]

A large nuke blast to generate EMP over iran would indiscrimantely fry everything in it’s spherical blast effect, friend and foe alike, including satelites. However, EMP can also be generated by a conventional warhead constructed with the proper electronics, albeit with much less area effect, ie more surgically and without the negative nuclear political stigma. Careful targeting could achieve much of the desired military results more selectively and without alienating iranian civilians and other nations(assuming that is a goal).
