In the recording, an Israeli Navy radio operator warns of the ship’s approach intoIsrael’s naval blockade when a passenger says in response, “Shut up, go back toAuschwitz.”
The release of the recording is another step taken by the Israel Defense Forces to solidify the claim that the passengers of the Mavi Marmara were determined to attack the soldiers who boarded the deck.
According to early findings of a navy investigation, during Israel’s takeover of a Turkish ship in the Gaza-bound aid flotilla this week, some passengers tried to take captive three commandos who lost consciousness as a result of the activists’ blows.
After dozens of other commandos began searching the ship, the Mavi Marmara, the three soldiers regained consciousness and managed to join their comrades.
